In Tanzania, as in many countries worldwide, sustainable living is an important and growing topic. However, while many people have heard of sustainable living, they may not fully understand its meaning. A lack of knowledge and exposure has led to lifestyles that contribute to environmental and health challenges for future generations. The Organic Garden | Sustainable Kitchen initiative promotes organic gardening to sustain kitchen supplies. It encourages small-scale or backyard gardening, making it accessible even to those without land. The project aims to provide households with a sufficient supply of pesticide-free vegetables and fruits, reducing living costs by utilizing small backyard spaces for food production.

You will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits, such as outdoor cleanup tasks, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on weather conditions, as on the availability of our partners. You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice while exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible. The SEEDS programme combines learning, sharing, hands-on activities, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, exploring the city, its attractions and the stunning nature, which you can experience in possible excursions. Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances (up to 1,5 hours) during activities and sightseeing. Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.SEEDS will organise a night photography and aurora hunting workshop in the city or in the vicinity of Reykjavik. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon depending on solar activity and meteorological conditions, so we cannot guarantee you will see northern lights, but the night photography workshop will be organised anyway.During the time of the camp, Iceland Airwaves, an annual music festival, is hosted in Reykjavik. There are performances from established and new artists in a host of different venues around the city. SEEDS does not provide passes for the festival, however there are a lot of free off-venue events all around town to attend.
During this camp, participants can share their passion for (and learn more about) global and local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management and sustainability, and you also love taking photos, then this project is for youWhile developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers and travellers

The main goal of this project is fostering intercultural exchange and language learning. Volunteers share and exchange culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and school students. English, as a global language, plays a vital role in preparing local Thai people to become global citizens. It opens doors to new knowledge and perspectives. Since its inception by VSA Thailand in 2011, the project has successfully empowered children and local communities to improve their English skills and gain confidence in interacting with international volunteers. This cultural exchange has also strengthened relationships between locals and foreigners, encouraging mutual understanding and adaptation to diverse ways of life. Songkhla, as a VSA base, has many schools eager to host international volunteers, primarily in rural areas, for meaningful teaching and cultural exchange during the volunteers’ stay.

Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, learning and sharing the intercultural and language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and students in the school. English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people to understand and be for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and knowledge. The project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for eight years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and the local community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare to face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover, volunteers’ activities impacted the local community. They used to stay lively and trusty with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life with the different cultures. Ban Krogluek School is a primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old).
