Work: The work will be mainly manual and outdoors in all kinds of weather. You will help to restore a part of the Christian cemetery - cleaning paths and areas of graves, relocating tombstones, removing branches, basic landscaping, sweeping, mowing grass, and removing trees in the surrounding area. No previous experience is required. Bring suitable working shoes and clothes and a raincoat. Study part: You will learn about the town's history, Czech culture and nature. The project will take place during the famous Karlovy Vary Film Festival, which offers an interesting cultural programme.
This short project will take place in the small town of Hroznetin, at the foot of the picturesque Ore Mountains in cooperation with the Local Action Group Krusne Hory (Ore Mountains). The LAG focuses on the support and development of the region through organizing and funding educational and cultural projects, connecting various stakeholders, preparing tourist brochures or co-organizing volunteer activities. The project aims to restore a forgotten Christian cemetery, activate the local community and introduce a piece of Czech land to the volunteers. At this project, you will actively contribute to the achievement of UN SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Location: The project takes place in Hroznetin, a small town in western Bohemia with about 2,000 inhabitants. There is a small grocery store, a school, and a post office, there is good phone reception. The closest cities are Ostrov (5 km) and Karlovy Vary (12 km) where you can find doctors, pharmacies and ATMS. The region is popular among tourists for its beautiful countryside near the Ore Mountains. Leisure time: You can visit the town of Ostrov and its sights - the castle garden, also known as the 8th wonder of the world, the local monument zone in the city centre, the Prince's Palace, Ostrov Castle, beautiful churches and monasteries. Or make a trip to the biggest spa complex in Europe – Karlovy Vary – and visit its historical centre and hot springs.
You will be accommodated in apartments in Mlynsky dum. You will sleep in beds, bedsheets will be provided. There is a kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator, bathroom with washing machine and small lounge. Bring your own towel. WIFI is available. You will prepare your own breakfast and dinner from provided ingredients, lunch will be provided. The accommodation is a 5-minute walk from the workplace.
Bring clothes and shoes suitable for work, a raincoat and a towel.
Directly from the Prague airport, take the Regiojet bus at 12:00 to the Karlovy Vary bus terminal. Get off at the bus stop “Karlovy Vary Terminal”. Then change to bus 421104 15 in the direction of “Hroznetin, nam.” leaving at 14:43. get off at the last stop “Hroznetin, nam.”, your campleader will be waiting there for you and take you to the accommodation. Work: The project aims to bring together Czech and international volunteers, people with or without disabilities, kids, youth or adults - just all! This project is primarily for people with autism to whom you will assist. Volunteers will cooperate with Czech assistants and help their fellow campers with daily tasks such as dressing, eating, personal hygiene and participation in the camp program. During the camp (9.-15.7.2023), volunteers might work longer hours, nevertheless, there will be enough time for rest and trips before and after the camp. Study part: Volunteers will learn about different types of disabilities. Through their trained campleaders, they will get to know how to assist the people in their daily life. Volunteers will have a chance to learn some basic Czech phrases – which will be helpful during the camp.
This project takes place in the town of Nymburk and the small village of Jizbice (Central Bohemia region) in cooperation with the local NGO Center for All. Center for All celebrates this year 18 years of organizing free time activities and summer camps for children and youth with and without disabilities. The activities take place in a reconstructed barn with a beautiful garden in Jizbice and at the headquarters of the organization in Nymburk. The project aims to help the Center for All to prepare and run a summer camp for people with or without disabilities. At this project, you will actively contribute to the achievement of UN SDG10 Reduced Inequalities.
Location: Scout centre Tortuga in Nymburk - before and after the camp. Nymburk is a town (15,000 inhabitants) in Central Bohemia, located on the Elbe River, 45 km east of Prague. The historical core of the city with its railway and industrial tradition is a city monument zone. There are supermarkets, ATMs, pharmacies, restaurants and all necessary services. Good phone coverage everywhere. A campsite in the village of Jizbice (8 km from the town of Nymburk) with 380 inhabitants. The campsite in Jizbice is located in a garden with a big barn. There is a playground, a forest and an outdoor swimming pool. Leisure time: During your free time, volunteers will have opportunities to hike in the beautiful countryside of the Czech Republic, as well as go on a trip to the marvellous city of Prague. An international evening will be organized, where each volunteer will have a chance to share the foods, culture, and traditions of their country and will learn about the countries from others.
Before and after the camp you will stay in an international scouts’ centre Tortuga in Nymburk – in rooms on mattresses in your own sleeping bag. There are 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and a big garden. You will prepare your own meals as a group. During the camp in Jizbice, you will sleep on mattresses in big tents in the garden. There is a bathroom with 2 toilets and 3 showers at the campsite. You will eat all together in a barn, all meals will be provided by the local partner (Czech cuisine). Please bring a tent (optional), a sleeping bag, a mat and a torch. WiFi is available.
A short motivation letter, a medical certificate stating that they are fit to work with children and a sworn declaration of the nonexistence of any criminal record sent with the application form are required. Please bring a sleeping bag, bed sheets, a torch and games and ideas for activities.
From the airport take bus 119 to Nadrazi Veleslavin stop. Change to green metro line A in the direction of Depo Hostivar, get off at “Muzeum” and change to red metro line C in direction of Letnany, go 1 stop and get off at “Hlavni Nadrazi” stop (main railway station). From here, take the R949 Hradecan train leaving at 15:09 and get off in Nymburk around 15:55. Your campleader will be waiting for you in front of the train station and will take you to your accommodation. Detailed information will be provided in the infosheet.
We are especially looking for outgoing and creative volunteers with good communication skills who enjoy working with children and youth. Alcohol consumption and smoking are prohibited during the camp, during the free time it is allowed for 18+ volunteers only under specific conditions and after the agreement with the campleaders. This project is also suitable for volunteers with fewer opportunities under the program Volunteering for All. This project is supported by the EU program European Solidarity Corps. Work: Volunteers will clean and restore the water system of the 18th-century fortress, clean and maintain the mini-zoo-military yard, clean the fortifications and underground passages of the fortress and maintain the green vegetation. Most of the work will be outside, please, bring suitable shoes and clothes that can get dirty or damaged. Study part: Tour of the historic corridors - lecture in the English language on the origins of the fortress, museum exhibition of the La Grace sailors, art exhibition, workshop and demonstration of 18th-century crafts, an opportunity to visit the World War Memorial. Opportunity to meet city staff and representatives, have a bar-becue and do other community activities.
The project is organised in cooperation with the association "Terezín - City of Change", which aims to repair the historical buildings of the Terezin fortress, make them accessible to the public and organize educational and cultural activities. Thanks to its rich history and unique 18th-century monuments, Terezin is on the UNESCO indicative list (waiting list). The aim of the project is to help with the restoration and preservation of the fortress city and learn about the history of the city that goes far beyond the infamous WWII era. At this project, you will actively contribute to the achievement of UN SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Location: Terezin is a small historical town located approximately one hour away from Prague in the north of the Czech Republic. The nearest bigger city is Usti nad Labem. In Terezin, the phone coverage is good, and ATMs, pharmacies and grocery stores are in the town. Leisure time: You can visit nearby cities Litomerice or Usti nad Labem where you can find a swimming pool, parks, and a cinema. Or you can go on a hike to the nature-protected area of Ceske Stredohori.
Accommodation is provided near the historical fortress. There are two rooms for 6 people each. Both rooms have bathroom facilities (shower and toilet). Bring your own towel. In the accommodation, there is also basic kitchen equipment (microwave, fridge, dishes). WIFI is available, and you can also use a washing machine. Accommodation is 5 minutes from the city centre, and 5 minutes from the fortress where you will be working. You will prepare breakfasts and dinners together as a group from provided ingredients. Lunch will be provided in the local restaurant.
Smoking in the houses and drinking alcohol during work hours are prohibited.
From Prague airport, take bus 119 to “Nadrazi Veleslavin” station. Change to green metro line A in the direction of Depo Hostivar. At the “Muzeum” stop, change to red metro line C in the direction of Letnany. Get off at the stop “Nadrazi Holesovice”. Here, take a bus from platform 7 at 16:00 to your final destination “Terezin, autobusove nadrazi”. The campleader will be waiting for you there at 17:00 and take you to the accommodation.

Work: The work will be mostly manual such as sanding old window frames, painting windows and doors, painting interior walls using traditional methods, clearing up building rubble, cleaning, sanding parquet floors, repairing a historical summerhouse in the garden, and gardening. Please bring suitable shoes and clothes that can get dirty or damaged. No previous experience is required. Study part: You will learn about Czech culture and nature, the history of the architecture of school buildings and go on excursions to see Jewish and Iron Curtain monuments. We will also have an international evening and a meeting with the local community.
This project is organized in cooperation with the association Skola na hranici (School on the border) which operates the former school in the village of Pisecne located on the southern border with Austria. Until WWII the village of Pisecne was inhabited by Jews, Germans and Czechs. The school was built 120 years ago by the local German community to teach children German. Nevertheless, in the last decades, the school was empty. The association aims to sensitively renovate the school building and organize cultural, sporting and other leisure events for adults and children regardless of nationality, mother language or age. The aim of the project is to help with the renovation. At this project, you will actively contribute to the achievement of UN SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Location: Pisecne is a small village near the Austrian border. In the village, there is a shop, a post office, a sports centre, and a pub. ATM, pharmacy and other services and shops are in Slavonice, 10 km from Pisecne. The phone coverage in the village is good. Leisure time: You can go on a trip to see the nearby sites such as the historic towns of Slavonice, and Jemnice, the national park Czech Canada, Jewish monuments nearby, and the Iron Curtain Memorial. You can have a refreshing swim in the river Dyje, play ball games at the local sports centre, and make a campfire in the garden. In the school building, there is a yoga studio and a lounge with a library.
Accommodation/Food: You will be accommodated in shared rooms on bunk beds, sheets and blankets will be provided. In the building, there is also a shared bathroom with toilets and showers with hot water. Please, bring your own towel. There is no washing machine. WIFI is available. Volunteers will cook their own meals. Vegetarian or vegan meals are preferred.

Work: You will work on the interior design of the building (grinding window frames, painting, moving material, varnishing) and in the rectory garden (landscaping, renovation of stone walls and fences, chopping wood, mow-ing, moving soil, taking care of vegetable beds, planting trees and shrubs). In case of interest, it is possible to help with more specialized work, such as masonry. The work at the rectory is diverse and will be assigned to you according to your abilities. Please, bring suitable work clothes and shoes that can get dirty or damaged. No previous experience is required. Study part: You will have the chance to discover and learn more about the church of St. George, where you can also organize a concert (bring your own musical instruments if you want). You will have a unique opportunity to go on a tour of the nearby castle Horsovsky Tyn and you can even access the places where the public is prohib-ited to enter. You will visit the Museum of Wirework.
This project is organized in cooperation with the association Fara Semnevice („Rectory Semnevice “) in the village of Semnevice. The association strives to build a sustainable community, support regional ecological and educational activities and revitalize the Baroque rectory. According to the association's vision, the rectory should become a place where people of different personalities, cultures, nationalities, and religions can meet and live together. The aim of this project is to renovate the rectory and its surroundings, including the community spirit. At this project, you will actively contribute to the achievement of the UN SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Location: The small village of Semnevice is located in the border region in the southwest of the Czech Republic. There is a pub, a small shop, and a playground in the village. It is surrounded by beautiful nature, forests, and meadows. Within walking distance, there is Sedmihori Natural Park. The nearest big cities are Horsovsky Tyn, Stribro or Domazlice where there are also the closest services such as ATMs or pharmacies. Leisure time: There are many leisure activities to choose from – you can go on a hike, swim, and play all kinds of sports on the local playground (volleyball, football, softball, frisbee etc.). In case of interest, yoga classes or regular warm-ups and stretching might be organized under the supervision of an experienced physiotherapist. You can go on a trip to the Meclov Farm, which is a farm from the 19th century with well-preserved interiors typical for the Czech countryside and you can discover what life looked like back then. You might also go on a trip to the Sedmihori Natural Park.
Accommodation is provided at the rectory in three large rooms on mattresses on wooden bunk beds. Please, bring your own sleeping bag! WIFI is available. The rectory has a dry eco-toilet and an outdoor shower. Regular toilets and showers are available in the municipal hall (5min) and in the neighbouring building. No washing machine. Water is provided from the rectory well. You will prepare breakfast and dinner altogether. Lunch will be provided by the local partner. One day will be dedicated to Czech cuisine and international specialities. Bring any local ingredients you might need.
Smoking is prohibited in the entire rectory area. Remember to bring your own sleeping bag, shoes and clothes suitable for work and musical instruments if you play any. Board games or card games are also welcome.

Change to Bus 400645 16 in the direction of Velky Malahov leaving from platform 3 at 16:17. Get off at Semnevice stop after 20 minutes at 16:37 where your campleader will be waiting and take you to the accommodation (5min walk).
