Program and activities: Greenlandic Children wants Camp Q to offer the kids and youngsters in Qeqertarsuaq a fantastic summer with a variety of fun and creative activities. The volunteers will decide and plan which activities to offer during the camp. You should expect long days as the volunteer group typically start the workday at 10.00 and continue till after dinner in the evening. A typical day will consist of morning meeting, preparing for the activities, activities, cleaning up after activities, dinner and evaluation meeting. You are off on Sundays

Partner

Greenlandic Children conducts social activities in Greenland and Denmark for Greenlandic children and young people in vulnerable life situations. We work to ensure that no Greenlandic child grows up in poverty, abuse, or neglect. Children must be heard and involved, and many more Greenlandic children and young people must have an education. We emphasize that our efforts are established in close cooperation with local authorities, organizations, professionals, children, and young people and with respect for local needs, wishes, culture and language. Greenlandic Children currently has ten ongoing projects in Greenland and Denmark and is present in all Greenlandic municipalities, as well as in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg, Esbjerg, Randers and Vejle. The organization has thirty employees and more than one hundred volunteers. The projects are financed by public funds, foundations, support, and sponsorship from companies as well as private members and contributors.

Location

Qeqertarsuaq is a small town on Disko Island, off the west coast of Greenland. It is known for its stunning natural scenery, including basalt mountains, lush Arctic vegetation, and rich wildlife. The town was founded in 1773 and has a history rooted in whaling and fishing. Today, it is a hub for scientific research and tourism, offering activities like hiking, dog sledding, and whale watching. Qeqertarsuaq is also home to the Arctic Station, a research facility operated by the University of Copenhagen. By January 1st, 2025, there are 799 inhabitants in the town, of which 171 are under the age of 18, corresponding to 21,4 % of the population. Clothing: The average temperatures in Qeqertarsuaq are between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius. Therefor it is good to have layers of clothing (inner layers preferably of wool), gloves and headbands. Language: It is required that you speak English. The main languages in Nanortalik are Greenlandic and Danish but many children speak English as well.

Accomodation

We expect you to stay in a shared bedroom with other volunteers of the same sex. You will stay at the school where kitchen and bathroom facilities will be available. We will divide the volunteers into cooking and cleaning teams. The group is responsible for shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc. All groceries are transported by ship. Therefore, you should expect a limited variation and be able to adapt to these local conditions. Most meals in Greenland are based on meat and fish. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR ANY KIND OF INTOXICANTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT ANY TIME OR CIRCUMSTANCE. VIOLATION OF THIS RULE WILL LEAD TO IMMEDIATE EXCLUSION FROM THE CAMP. Telephone coverage might be scarce, and the internet connection might be poor.

Requirements

To participate in this Work Camp, we require you to provide: 1) A clean criminal record in English – for Danish volunteers, a børneattest is also required. 2) Travel Insurance in English 3) A motivational letter. This letter will be received by our Work Camp host who will determine whether you will be accepted to the camp. Please be aware that there is a response time on your application of five working days. The Work Camp host will also conduct an online interview with an applicant prior to acceptance. In the application, you must answer the following questions: - How can you contribute to the Camp? - What creative, sporting- and outdoor activities will you be able to lead and initiate, and which will you be able to participate in? - How will you be able to contribute to our cultural evening for the whole city? - What experience do you have with volunteering? - What experience do you have with working with children and young people? The Work Camp host will create a private Facebook group for the volunteers, and this will be the main communication platform. Therefore, you are required to join the group as part of the preparations.

Meeting point

We travel by plane from Copenhagen to Nuuk. From there we travel by a smaller plane further north to Aasiaat and from there by boat to Qeqertarsuaq. Meeting point and Time: Date: 06.07.2025 Time: 15:00 (it is not possible to arrive after this time) We meet in Copenhagen the day before departure to Greenland. Greenlandic Children will pay for the volunteers to stay the night in a hostel in town. Since flights to Greenland are very limited, it is essential that everyone flies on the same departure from Denmark to Greenland. To make this easier, the Association of Greenlandic Children will organize and purchase your plane tickets in advance. You will then transfer the cost to them. We will send you an email with the payment details, banking information, and deadline. The price of tickets is very high, and some volunteers already have an added travel expense for flying to Copenhagen. The Association has therefore decided to base the price of tickets on your departure country Ticket Prices: Outside Europe: 4000 DKK (~540€) Europe (incl. Russia): 5000 DKK (~670€) Nordic Countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway): 7000 DKK (~940€) Example: If you are flying from Italy, you will book your own flight to Denmark, and then pay 670€ for your ticket from Denmark to Greenland. The specific meeting time and place will be in the info-sheet after acceptance. Departure: Travelling in Greenland is often made difficult due to weather, and it is quite possible to get delayed. We recommend you take this into consideration when booking your return flights from Copenhagen. Greenlandic Children will arrange for a night’s stay in a shared hotel room when returning from Greenland. More detailed information about transportation will be sent to you personally and given in your info sheet after acceptance.

Notes:

Clothing: The average temperatures in Kullorsuaq in June/July are between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius. Therefore, it is good to have many layers of clothing (inner layers preferably of wool), gloves, and headbands. Language: It is required that you speak English. The main languages in Kullorsuaq are Greenlandic and Danish. Volunteer profile: We prefer an approach of diversity regarding volunteer skills. Nevertheless, the inhabitants have requested volunteers who are specifically interested/skilled in the areas of outdoor/wilderness activities, football (soccer), futsal, and creative activities. Volunteers who have an interest in baking and cooking with children are also very welcome. We welcome all volunteers, including Greenlandic volunteers, international volunteers, and Danish volunteers.

Descrizione

As a volunteer, you will help build the new barn and contribute to a sustainable project that truly makes an impact. Your tasks may vary from setting up structures and using sustainable materials to creatively designing the space. At the same time, you'll learn new practical skills in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Collaborating with a motivated group of volunteers provides not only a sense of accomplishment but also unforgettable moments.

Work

BoerEnBuiten is an educational and care-oriented organization that offers groups, schools, and young people a unique experience. We work hands-on with themes such as agriculture, nature, and sustainability. Through this practical approach, children not only grow in knowledge but also in self- confidence and collaboration. We also organize camps and workshops focused on topics like food and farm life. BoerEnBuiten has grand plans! We dream of a new barn that not only provides a necessary upgrade but also plays an important role in our operations. The current barn has seen better days. The new barn is primarily designed for BoerEnBuiten but also for our harvest project 'Plukgeluk'. Here, we can host groups, organize workshops, and safely store materials. This project will not only enhance the educational experience but also increase our impact. Additionally, the new barn is essential for our new branch 'green care'. With this, we offer care-oriented activities such as Rots & Water for people who benefit from a calming and natural environment. The new infrastructure enables us to work on this important mission in all weather conditions. Planned tasks: • Maintaining natural areas • Building wooden structures • Entertaining/guiding children in small activities • Baking delicious pizza

Bouworde vzw, a non-profit organisation, gives young people the chance to explore the world differently through volunteering work on meaningful social, technical or ecological projects worldwide. By doing so, young people discover other cultures, learn to work together and experience different sorts of inequality in the world. Bouworde wants to offer young people a chance to actively help to build a better world, always in cooperation with local people. We strive for a world in which every person’s rights are respected. Bouworde vzw is an educational organisation for young people. By organising volunteer trips worldwide, we want to broaden their horizon and help them to develop a critical and global mindset. This way we also want to enhance their sense of solidarity.

Location

Our activities take place in the fields of the organic farm BoerenCompagnie, a CSA farm (Community Shared Agriculture) nestled in beautiful nature, a stone's throw from Leuven, near the Park Abbey. It's a place where learning, playing, and caring for nature come together.

Accomodation

The farm has a very nice area available for setting up your tent. Please bring your own tent as a group! Also make sure to bring an air mattress, pillow and sleeping bag as it can get rather cold in the summer in Belgium. Meals are prepared on-site. Vegetarian options are available upon communication with the organization. A volunteer is also asked to assist the cooking team each time.

Requirements

The main work will be done outside. Make sure to bring clothing & shoes that are suited for this work. We strongly support bringing something from your own culture so you can share it with others! There are no experience requirements! Everyone can join. It’s a perfect oppurtunity to learn new skills.

Meeting point

Work

For the Summer Camp to run smoothly, we very much rely on volunteers, who are interested in helping with different practicalities. Your important effort will make a very positive change for the participants, as you will contribute to the framework of the Table Tennis Camp, which aims at empowering people, developing their skills, and bringing them together towards their common passion for table tennis. The camp is especially good for you if you like to engage with people in a very international environment, and if you are interested in improving your teamwork and problem-solving skills because the work requires that you adapt to changes quickly. When it comes to the specific tasks, there will be a rotation between them to make the days vary for all volunteers. These different tasks include assisting in the kitchen, with all practicalities such as cooking and serving the food to the other camp participants. Similar tasks include helping with cleaning assistance or driving shuttle buses to and from the airport, train station, and ferry terminals. Other tasks could be overseeing activities with the camp participants and the smallest children and finally helping in the administration with check-in, check-out, and room preparations. It will also be possible to be a sparring partner in the Table Tennis Camp and interact with the camp participants. Therefore, it would be an advantage if you enjoy playing table tennis and would like to practice it some more, but no experience is needed. We welcome people at all levels! In addition, it will be possible for you to continue playing table tennis in your free time. The program As a volunteer, your work week will consist of 5 working days and 2 days off, though these days will be rotating between you. This means that you might have to work at the weekend, but then you will have time off during the week. Your workday will be no more than 7 hours, and you will be working with local volunteers. Work starts in the morning and the afternoon. Some tasks, like being a part of the administration or driving team, mean you must work at different times during the day.

Partner

The Work Camp will be a part of our annual International Table Tennis Summer Camp. The exciting Summer Camp has existed for 18 years and is arranged by B75, which is a value-based table tennis club with professional trainers and players. During the Summer Camp, 200 trainers and players from all over the world will gather for three weeks of learning, fun, friends-making, and sharing of their common passion for badminton. This year, they come from 43 countries. It creates a great party in the town and the atmosphere is amazing, which we would love you to become a part of.

Location

During your three-week stay in Northern Jutland, you will also have time to explore the unique nature and interesting attractions in Denmark. Your Work Camp leaders will help you and the group with organizing these activities in your spare time. It is free to enjoy the beautiful nature of Northern Jutland, but some activities such as museums and galleries might require an extra charge. The host will not cover additional charges. The Work Camp will be taking place remarkably close to the beach, so there are incredibly good opportunities to go for a swim. It is also very much possible to explore the nearby towns by going sightseeing or shopping. For instance, you can arrange a day trip to Skagen, which is the Northern tip of Denmark where the two oceans meet. Skagen is especially famous for its special light, which has attracted many painters, yellow and red houses, art galleries, delicious seafood, and much more. You can also take a day trip to Aalborg, the third biggest city in Denmark, where you find a large variety of shopping opportunities while enjoying the cozy atmosphere in the iconic and old streets of Aalborg.

Accomodation

Sleeping + bathroom facilities: The volunteers will be sleeping in classrooms at the local school. There will be mattresses, pillows, and bedding. The school is within walking distance from the Work Camp. It only takes a few minutes to get there. The bathrooms are next to the classrooms where you will be sleeping. Meals + kitchen facilities: All Work Camp participants eat in the canteen with all the other participants. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided by the Work Camp host.

Requirements

English will be the only language spoken. All participants must be willing to speak English, even though being from the same country or have trouble with the English language. Try your best!

Meeting point

Nearest airport: Aalborg Airport Nearest bus/train station: Aalborg Airport Meeting Point and Time: Aalborg Airport between 15:00-19:00 We will pick you up and lead you to the place of accommodation. As the Work Camp is only a short drive, the Camp leaders will drive back and forth from the airport. You might have to wait a little bit if many participants arrive around the same time. Arrival at Aalborg Airport: To make it to your meeting point in time, your flight must arrive no later than 18:00 on the first camp day. As the airport is the meeting point, there will be no additional cost or travel time. Arrival at Copenhagen Airport: To make it to your meeting point in time, your flight must arrive no later than 12:00 on the first camp day. From the airport, you take a direct train to Aalborg Airport. The train departs every hour. The total travel time from the airport to the meeting point will be approximately 5 hours. The travel cost from the airport to the meeting point is approx. 60€. Further details on travel arrangements and purchasing of train/bus tickets will be provided in your info sheet after acceptance. Work

You'll be working on a timber frame for a hiking shelter, located in the immediate proximity of the Abbey of Clausonne. A local carpenter will guide you in assembling the supporting structure, making the joints and building the floor. Each day, two members of the group will rotate in preparing meals for the team; the menu will be defined in advance. You'll work on-site during the mornings from Monday to Friday. Generally speaking, the work involves carpentry, preparing tools and meals, as well as organizing and setting up community life.

Partner

A small valley in the heart of a sublime alpine landscape, the remains of the 12th-century abbey of Clausonne, and a 300 km hiking trail. All this invites you to discover this rural area and its history! Here, for the past 30 years, a local association has been involved in preserving and promoting the site, as well as contributing to the life of Clausonne and writing its present-day history. Last summer, work began on the construction of a hiker's shelter on the site. As this is a stage on an itinerary of ancient transhumance routes, you'll be contributing to welcoming cyclists and hikers for years to come. This project is just one of the many initiatives in which international and local volunteers, the people on work integration programs and other professionals have participated over the years. You'll be staying at the Ferme du Faï, an old mountain farmhouse that's kept alive by a team of employees working on the renovation of the buildings, artists and musicians in artistic residence, hikers passing through and the curious. Roll up your sleeves and join us on-site and in our collective living space!

Location

The Clausonne site is a 20-minute walk from Ferme du Faï. Le Faï is 2 km from the village of Le Saix and 13 km from the town of Veynes. There's no Wi-Fi, so the connection is weak, but you'll meet people from all over the world! The site is located below the summit of Aujour Mountain, so the view may inspire you to discover the pleasure of the hike in your spare time. Indeed, this wilderness spot is ideal for mountain walking and wandering. You'll have the chance to discover the area in the company of a group of international volunteers, which will enrich your experience. Here, you'll be the protagonist of your stay: you'll organize your free time together with the support of our staff.

Accomodation

We will host you at the Faï FermeFaï, a welcoming site located at an altitude of 1000 meters. You will be accommodated in individual tents. A kitchen, dry toilets, and showers will be at your disposal at the site. Here, we take care with our food to reduce our environmental impact: we eat local as much as possible and reduce our meat consumption to twice a week. Daily life is organized collectively: menus (vegetarian, vegan diets, etc.), shopping, activities, and so on.

Meeting point

Shuttle to Ferme du Faï from Veynes-Dévoluy station. See you on July 8, 2025, from 3 pm.

The Sachsenhausen Memorial was one of the largest concentration camps in Germany and was built in 1936 near Berlin. More than 200,000 people from all over Europe were imprisoned here by the Nazi SS. The prisoners were forced to perform inhumane labor, and thousands died or were murdered. After the liberation in 1945, the Soviet secret service established Special Camp No.7/No.1 on the site for the internment of former Nazi functionaries and political opponents. Today the memorial is a place of remembrance, learning and research. More information: www.sachsenhausen-sbg.de/en/

Location

Area: Sachsenhausen is a part of Oranienburg, ca. 33 km to the north of Berlin. Sachsenhausen was one of the earliest concentration camps in Germany, built in 1936. For example, German people who were in opposition to Nazi policy, homosexuals, so-called asocials, criminals, Jews, and during the war especially people from occupied countries were imprisoned, forced to work and a lot of them were murdered. Between 1945 and 1950 a part of this area was used as a so-called Special Camp of the Soviet Secret Service Leisure: Volunteers have to be able to ride a bike, as several shorter and longer bike rides are planned. Bicycles are provided, but helmets are not required. In the free time it's possible to go to Berlin or Potsdam. The volunteers will find many forests and lakes to walk, cycle or just relax. However, the free time activities will mainly depend on participants' ideas.

Accomodation

Accomodation: You will be accommodated in a youth hostel. The building is on the grounds of historical Sachsenhausen concentration camp complex and was built in 1938 as the official residence of the Concentration Camp Inspector, 2 km away from the memorial centre. It is possible to use the washing machine and the dryer for a small fee. We have a total of three projects at the Sachsenhausen Memorial, with a different additional project: – VJF 2.3 Sachsenhausen #1:ESC Photography (06. July. - 26. August 2025) – VJF 2.4 Sachsenhausen #2: Sound worksop (08.07.25 – 26.07.25) – VJF 2.5 Sachsenhausen #3: Comic workshop (11.08.25 – 23.08.25) For this Workcamp it is necessary to have very good English skills as we will get a lot of information about the time of Second World War! ____________________________________________ This project is composed of a volunteering team, supported by the European Solidarity Corps program of the European Union. Compared to the usual workcamp participation scheme, some main financial and administrative differences must be underlined: For Sending Organizations: “Due to high costs and the lack of additional funding, we are unable to cover a sending fee on top of the ESC travel allowance (lump sum based on travel distance) that can be allocated to the sending organization for its volunteers. Unfortunately, this is the only way we can continue to run ESC teams in the capital of Germany.” ATTENTION PLEASE: This project is open to all volunteers that fit the ESC criteria presented on the ESC webpage: https://europa.eu/youth/solidarity/mission_en - Volunteers do not have to pay any fee (no sending, nor participation fee) to attend the project - Volunteers need to enroll in the PASS, the European Solidarity Corps Portal; We will organize your matching in the portal with the volunteering project. - Volunteers will receive pocket money, calculated on basis of the rate of our country ------ For Sending Organizations: “Due to high costs and the lack of additional funding, we are unable to cover a sending fee on top of the ESC travel allowance (lump sum based on travel distance) that can be allocated to the sending organization for its volunteers. Unfortunately, this is the only way we can continue to run ESC teams in the capital of Germany.

Preserving the Hôtellerie stone wall

Work

You will be working on the preservation of the south facade of the Hôtellerie building, in the hamlet of Vaunières. This stone façade is currently covered with a layer of insulation and a really damaged finish. The first phase of work will therefore involve removing the insulation to reveal the ancient masonry. Next, you will repoint the stones with mortar, and then apply the bonding plaster. A local expert will guide you through the various phases of the project. Some activities involve working on scaffolding. Each day, two members of the group will take turns preparing meals for the team; the menu will be defined in advance. You'll work on-site during the morning, Monday to Friday. Generally speaking, the work involves masonry, preparing tools and meals, as well as organizing and setting up collective life.

Partner

At the heart of an impressive mountain cirque in the French Alps, the hamlet of Vaunières sits on a vast, gently sloping plain. Large stone buildings nestled between meadows and forests... But this village is not like the others! Purchased as a ruin in the 60s by the Les Villages des Jeunes association, the site is now completely renewed, bustling with life thanks to the many events that take place here and the many local and international connections. Vaunières is a place to meet, to work; to enjoy the peace of the mountains, and the dynamism of the area. Today, the site lives and breathes thanks to a team of employees working on the maintenance of the site, volunteers, tourists, hikers, and aficionados. Roll up your sleeves and join us on-site and in our collective life spaces.

Location

The hamlet of Vaunières is 6km from Saint Julien en Beauchêne village and 23km from the nearby town of Veynes. There's no Wi-Fi, and the connection is weak, but you'll meet people from all over the world! You will be in an exceptional location to discover the pleasures of hiking in the mountains, wandering near rivers and lakes, enjoying local markets, and festive evenings organized in the surrounding villages (according to the program). Discover this place in the company of a group of international volunteers who will enrich your experience. Here, you will be the protagonist of your stay: you'll organize your own free time and benefit from the support of our staff.

Accomodation

We welcome you to the hamlet of the Vaunières, at an altitude of 1170 meters. You'll be accommodated in dormitories with sanitary facilities, kitchen, and dining facilities at your disposal. Here, we pay close attention to our diet to reduce our environmental impact: we eat locally as much as possible and reduce our meat consumption to twice a week. Daily life is organized collectively: menus (vegetarian, vegan diets, etc.), shopping, activities, and so on. Once or twice for weeks, we organize shopping trips using the vehicles provided on site.

Meeting point

Shuttle bus to Vaunières hamlet from Veynes-Dévoluy or Lus-La-Croix-Haute train station. See you on July 8, 2025, from 3 pm.

Work

The aim of this project is to rebuild the perimeter wall of the former priory, located behind the school and alongside the stream. The work will involve restoring and consolidating this structure to ensure its solidity, while ensuring that it blends harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. As well as helping to preserve the local heritage, the project will give volunteers an opportunity to learn traditional masonry techniques, such as cutting and assembling stones, repointing and laying mortar. You don't need any qualifications to take part, just your enthusiasm and desire to learn. You will be supervised by experienced professionals who will guide you through the various stages of the work. Don't forget to bring suitable, comfortable, and hard-wearing clothing, as there is a risk that your clothes will be damaged or soiled. All the necessary safety equipment will be provided.

Partner

Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge is a commune in south-west France, in the Cognac region, in the heart of the Charente countryside, close to the Lande forest and a short distance from the banks of the Gironde estuary. This commune is a long-standing partner of the association, with whom we carried out the first workcamps in the Charente-Maritime region in 1996. After a ten-year hiatus in projects in the area, in 2019 the municipality wanted to rekindle the intercultural momentum generated by the work camps, and in particular to use them to renovate the cemetery walls last year.

Location

The aim will be to share your cultural wealth with the residents and associations of Saint-Genis-De-Saintonge. Visits to the region will be organised collectively according to your wishes (visits, ocean, museums, etc.). You can discover local towns such as St Emilion, Bordeaux, La Rochelle, etc. Leisure activities and local events will give you the chance to meet the locals!

Accomodation

You will sleep in La maison Bibard, a house recently acquired by the municipality. Participants will sleep in 3 areas equipped with mattresses. The house has all amenities (toilets, kitchens, etc.), but showers will be taken at the nearby gym (100m). You must bring your own duvet and pillow. Bicycles are available for use during the project. Food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals will be prepared, in turn, by you, especially for lunch and dinner, while respecting environmental values and local resources, as well as everyone's culture (hot and cold dishes as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes will be prepared).

Meeting point

The meeting point is Jonzac station, on Tuesday 8 July, between 3p.m and 5p.m. The organisers will provide a shuttle service between the station and the accommodation. All the information you need to get there will be in the project roadmap.

Work

Objective: To allow children to develop their creativity through arts and crafts. To promote friendship, understanding, and solidarity among local young volunteers and cross-national volunteers. To understand the importance of the Holi festival and learn how it is celebrated. Activities: Develop and conduct a session for the children to draw, paint, create gifts and crafts, or express themselves artistically. Organize activities such as origami, collage work, music, and dance.

Partner

Art is often considered the process or product of deliberately arranging elements to appeal to the senses or emotions. It encompasses various human activities, creations, and ways of expression, including music, literature, film, sculpture, and paintings. Children of all ages love arts and crafts. They love getting creative and messy and admiring their masterpieces when they are finished. The great thing about arts and crafts is that they aid children's development in many other areas. When children manipulate a paintbrush, their fine motor skills improve. They experiment with materials and dabble in science. Most importantly, when kids feel good while creating, art helps boost their self-confidence. This unrestricted exploration helps children form brain connections, learn, and have fun. It is a natural activity that supports this free play in children. Art and craft are fundamental to our everyday lives, and encouraging children to learn about them will only benefit them as they grow older. Art can help children develop feelings, while craft can develop thinking and coordination skills. Art communicates a familiar story that can bring us all together as humans. Art is essential because other humans are essential, allowing us to understand each other. This project was developed to improve children's creativity. It aids children in thinking creatively and learning to connect with their imagination. Creativity can make children happier. Children express their emotions through arts and crafts, which makes them feel calmer and happier. Art and crafts projects are excellent for children's development. They allow children to practice their skills, such as coordination (e.g., cutting and shaping), understanding shapes and colors, and exploring their hidden interests and talents. Both ways can bring about positive life-enhancing change for you and the Nepalese people. As a volunteer, you will be given the unique opportunity to teach arts and crafts of your choice and learn the trade through the artistic lens of the Nepalese people. Arts and crafts would also include dance. Here's your chance to make a creative difference in Nepal through art.
