Work

After two years spent restoring the interior walls of the church, the aim of this project is to continue renovating the walls of the Saint-Jacques-et-Saint-Philippe church in Buxerolles. The church dates back to the 11th century, but the walls have been plastered with cement, which has led to poor drainage of moisture and created saltpetre. Accompanied by a specialist technical supervisor, you will first have to remove the plaster from the walls, then dehumidify the walls, and finish by plastering them with lime. Other traditional masonry work will give you a chance to familiarise yourself with these techniques. Come with work clothes or clothes that may be damaged or soiled. We will provide you with safety equipment. No qualifications are required for this project. You will work 4 to 5 hours a day.

Not far from Poitiers, between the sky and the earth, in this commune called Buxerolles, an ancient church first mentioned in 1226, the Saint-Jacques-et-Saint-Philippe de Buxerolles church dates back to the Romanesque period. A first chapel, completely destroyed when the building was rebuilt in 1868, dates back to the 11th century. After several years, the building is in need of a facelift, and the project will involve refurbishing the church as well as intercultural sharing between locals and peace-building volunteers.

Location

Buxerolles (86180) is located in the Greater Poitiers conurbation, in the Vienne département (86), 6 km from Poitiers. At the crossroads of several charming little villages in the Vienne, you'll be able to take full advantage of the local heritage. When you're not working on the site, you'll be taking part in summer activities such as July 14th. Outings to Poitiers or Châtellerault and activities such as the Futuroscope, bowling or cinema, can also be organised.

Accomodation

You will sleep on mattresses at the Espace Marcel Varliette, where all facilities are available (toilets, kitchens, showers, common room, etc.). The church is located in the same place as the accommodation. You must bring your own duvet and pillow, and we'll provide inflatable mattresses. Meals, especially lunch and dinner, will be prepared by participants on a rotating basis, ensuring respect for environmental values, local resources, and everyone's cultural preferences. Both hot and cold dishes, as well as vegetarian and vegan options, will be included.

Meeting point

The meeting point can be reached directly by public transport on the site, at the Bernier or Buxerolles Bourg bus stop on Tuesday July 24th, between 4pm and 6pm. Poitiers station is a 15-minute bus ride away on line 13. All the information you need to get there will be in the project roadmap.

Work

Help us to create pallet outdoor furniture for the commune of Les Mureaux, creating a cheerful, welcoming environment for local residents! The city of Les Mureaux has a number of social and youth structures that are essential for social action at family level, and for the city's cultural activities. The aim of the project will be to create an outdoor living room using recycled wooden street furniture, so that it can once again become a welcoming and convivial space for the community, and in particular for the neighborhood's young people! Workshops will be organised to raise awareness of sustainable development, as well as workshops with children and many community visits.

For the fourth year, Concordia is pleased to be working in partnership with the town of Les Mureaux. You'll be teamed up with young people from the community, thanks to the town council, which has asked us to get involved in a civic and supportive approach.

Location

Les Mureaux is a suburban town with a population of 32,000 in the northern Yvelines region, just under an hour from Paris. Civic activities include a visit to the Musée de l'Immigration in Paris, a meeting with the NGO Terre d'Asile, Refugee Food, the Château de Versailles and the Amarres third place center. Social events in Les Mureaux and Paris are planned throughout the workcamp.

Accomodation

You will be accommodated in a hard-standing building (gymnasium, school or social center) with hard-standing toilets and showers. Lunches and dinners will be cooked collectively, i.e. you will take it in turns to cook for all the volunteers. Weekday lunches will be taken in the canteen. A budget will be allocated to the leaders for the shopping in which you will participate, giving priority to healthy and local products, and vegetarian products. Wifi will not be available at the mission site and at the accommodation site. There is no washing machine but laundries are accessible in town if needed, 4€.

Requirements

Foreigners from the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country. Please note that a copy of your criminal record will be required to participate to the project.

Meeting point

The meeting point is at Les MUREAUX train station at 6pm on 25/07. To get there, take train line J from Gare Saint-Lazare. From Orly airport: Take the OrlyVal bus to Antony, then RER B to Châtelet, then Line 14 to Saint-Lazare. From Roissy - Charles de Gaulle airport: take RER B to Gare du Nord, RER E to Haussmann-Saint Lazare. Wherever possible, consider using a green travel option (train and bus rather than plane) for a more sustainable journey.

Notes:

Bring work clothes. Nights can be chilly, so bring warm clothes, a sleeping bag, a pillowcase and a pillow. Bring rain equipment (fleece, raincoat, etc.). Don't forget your sun protection (hat, sunglasses, cream, etc.), a water bottle and your swimsuit for swimming at the leisure center. There will be plenty of time for socializing, especially with local adults, children and teenagers. If you'd like to share a little of your culture (music, songs, recipes, unusual objects...), don't hesitate to bring along a little piece of your country or region, children's books, a Bluetooth speaker or a musical instrument to show off your favorite playlist! The internet connection is very weak, so you'll be immersed in nature. There's no launderette nearby, so laundry will mainly be done by hand. The last day of the workcamp (8/08) is devoted to departure in the morning.

Work

This project contributes to the dissemination of the natural and cultural heritage with a community working approach to the territory. The project proposes different actions, in the technical and work aspect, focused on heritage cultural and in the natural-landscape heritage of the counties of "Pallars Jussà" and "Pallars Sobirà". This work camp has relevant impact to the community, and each action helps to preserve the heritage of each municipality. Some members of the local brigades will work with the volunteers. The work will be outdoors and to avoid the hours with high temperatures, volunteers will start early. The different tasks will be carried out in collaboration with different entities: Municipality of Talarn: - Recovery of the dry-stone walls of the roads. - Clearing and cleaning of roads. Municipality of Baix Pallars (historical and mining heritage): - Construction of several dry-stone walls of the salt complexes. - Cleaning of the drain and around the salt mines. Municipality of Gavet (historical heritage): - Shrub all the vegetation and clean excavated areas. - Help the archaeologists to remove stones and land. Volunteers will work Monday to Friday, from 7:30h to 12.00h. They will have a break and in the afternoon, they have time to relax and enjoy cultural, social activities and visits. No professional experience needed.

Location

The municipality of Talarn is located on the right bank of the Noguera Pallaresa and surrounds the town of Tremp. Mainly flat around the water of the Sant Antoni reservoir, this is an ideal spot for the practice of water sports. Several activities will be: - Visit to Epicenter in Tremp. This visitor center of the Pallars Jussà region is the main tourist information in the area and a space that shows the values of the local cultural and natural heritage. An opportunity to live an attractive cultural experience, discover the charms of the region and feel motivated to find out about the landscapes, the historic heritage, the resources, the products, and the services of the region. (https://www.pallarsjussa.net/ca/epicentre). - Day trip to Vall Fosca. By private bus participants will reach in la Vall Fosca Cable car. From Teleferic 2.200, people can start a wide range of treks to the 32 lakes that make up this spectacular site. La Vall Fosca Cable car gives you the opportunity to experience the adventure of getting to the only National park in Catalonia. There are some activities with an extra cost as kayaking or canoeing.

Accomodation

The volunteers are going to stay in one youth hostel called Alberg de Talarn: http://www.albergdetalarn.com/wp/ Participants will sleep in one room all together, where there are 12 bunk beds with shelves to store personal staff. During the summer, the room gets very hot and volunteers must be prepared for really high temperatures. The toilets and showers are indoor (no gender separation), with hot water and private showers. The food is prepared by a catering company, and there is one kitchen on the 3rd floor where the participants will prepare for themselves the breakfast. Snacks will be provided during working breaks. Please, if someone is vegetarian or have some allergies, it is important to notify on the application form. There is Wi-Fi and electricity and no washing machines; the volunteers can wash their clothes by hand.

Requirements

The tasks require the use of certain work tools. Depending on the type of disability, they could participate but unfortunately, this work camp is not accessible for volunteers with high reduce mobility or wheelchairs.

Meeting point

The meeting point will be at Parking G in the Barcelona Airport, at 15:00h. A camp leader or other person from the group will wait the volunteers to get them to Talarn by private bus booked by the hosting organization. Each participant will have to pay for the bus in cash and the cost will be between 35-40€. By public transportation: Bus: ALSA bus company operates with approximately three departures on Saturday and the journey duration is around 3 hours and 25 minutes, and ticket prices range from 32€ to 35€. There is no bus from Tremp to Talarn, but a leader or taxi will go to pick them up. Tickets can be purchased directly from Alsa's official website or at the Estació del Nord ticket counters. It's advisable to book in advance, especially during peak travel times, to ensure seat availability. By car: the meeting point will be at 18:30h in Talarn. LAST DAY OF THE CAMP: The work camp will finish at 10h, and volunteers can leave earlier if they need it for the flights connections. There is a chance volunteers can book for private transportation in Tremp and deal the prices with the taxi drivers.

Work

The project takes place in the refugee centre in Emmen which is a location for families with children. The children you will be working with are between 4 and 12 years. These children participate in a school program, but during the months of July and August, there is the summer holiday break. The volunteers organise activities for and with the children. This type of work calls for creative people who can make up all sorts of games from scratch to play with the children: music, sports, arts, language sessions, creativity, etc. Therefore the content of this project is up to you and the other participants. The games are scheduled throughout the week.

The location of the project is the Refugee Centre Emmen. Emmen is a city of about 60.000 inhabitants in the province of Drenthe in the northern part of the Netherlands. This refugee centre (in Dutch: ‘AZC Emmen’) has a capacity for about 400 refugees. This particular place is a location for families with under age children whose application for asylum has been denied by the Dutch government. These families will in time return to their homeland. Our partner is the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (in Dutch: COA). The COA provides accommodation during the asylum procedure and prepares asylum seekers for staying in the Netherlands, returning to their country of origin or transmigration. At the moment COA manages about 100 centres in the Netherlands. COA is an independent administrative body funded by the Dutch Ministry of Justice. The COA works together with a partner named ‘De Vrolijkheid’: the National Foundation for the Promotion of Happiness. The Happiness is a multicultural, not-for-profit network of artists, play writers, actors, musicians and volunteers who invest in children and teenagers in asylum-seeking centres. The Happiness organises creative activities on a regular basis in 30 asylum-seeking centres in the Netherlands. Please note that it is not allowed to take pictures and/or make videos in the refugee centre.

Location

There will be sufficient free time. Together with your camp leaders you will discuss the recreational program. Emmen is an attractive city with lots of activities in the summertime. You can visit places nearby and explore the surroundings. The area is declared a UNESCO-Geopark by the United Nations. Emmen is very well accessible by train and bus. Biggest attraction is the theme park Wildlands Adventure Zoo. Near the campingsite is also a earthwork from the Amercan artist Robert Smitson, Broken Circle and Spiral Hill(1971)

Accomodation

Volunteers will stay at a small campsite, almost a 30min bike ride. Minicamping De Emmerdennen. (Adress camping place:Oude Roswinkelerweg 118, 7814 RT Emmen, near to the centre of Emmen.) The accommodation will be in a tent. You can either bring your own tent or use one of ours. In that case you will share a tent with one other volunteer. It's necessary to bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping math There are cooking facilities and the group will cook for themselves. There is a big tent for cooking, eating, group activities or to hang out.

Requirements

Due to the nature of the work a Criminal Record, Certificate of Conduct and a motivation letter are required. Note: There is no student discount for this project. Meeting point

From Airport Schiphol you can easily catch a train to ‘Emmen Zuid’ (in English: Emmen South). This trains leaves every half hour. The total journey from Schiphol to Emmen takes 2 hours and 15 minutes. You have to change trains at station ‘Zwolle’ to catch the train towards ‘Emmen Zuid’. The project is 100m from trainstation Emmen Zuid. You do not need to book train tickets in advance, you can buy them at Schiphol Airport.

Generally, our volunteers will receive 2 days off in every 7 so its easy to access many parts of the UK. Situated in a 94-acre land in Botley, it truly is a stunning landscape where volunteers can enjoy the nature. IMPORTANT: – Even in the British Summertime it can be VERY COLD AT NIGHT – please ensure you bring enough warm clothes. Wet weather clothing and footwear is also strongly recommended, as the site can get muddy and even the summer can bring a rainy day.

Zoom Interviews: will be arranged individually. After Zoom interview, if confirmed on the project, volunteers need to send a certificate of good conduct /police check from your home country. UK VISA COSTS: All volunteers will need to apply for a Temporary Work – Charity Worker, please be aware that this has replaced the Tier 5 (T5) Charity Worker VISA. The application fee for this VISA is £298 and you can stay for up to 12 months. To apply for the Charity Workers VISA volunteers will need a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) this will be provided by Concordia at the cost of £25.

Work

Kriusilla is a small farm dealing with beekeeping, vegetables growing and forestry. Volunteers will be doing some forestry work (cleaning and weeding forestry, planting trees, building wood construction) but also harvesting vegetables, collecting honey, cleaning and improving bee houses, possibly helping to build new ones. There can be also some light odd jobs in the house, building and gardening. The working day will be 5-7 hours depending on weather conditions.

Kriusilla Farm is one of them. This is the organic farm dealing with traditional bees-keeping and growing vegetables, also with forestry - all promoting sustainable lifestyle. This camp is proposed for volunteers who appreciate and share eco-values, want to learn more about it and to help hard working people. This camp follows positive experience of the camps for 20 years.

More information on www.visitestonia.com Leisure timeThere are a lot of leisure time possibilities in the area for people enjoying nature and interested in sustainable way of living. There are many interesting locally important natural sites in the area. There is Jagala River 4 km away, picturesque lakes about 20 km away and the sea 40 km away. Short trips in the area are planned by hosts. It is easy and quite possible to go to Tallinn on your own in the free time to enjoy its attraction and numerous opportunities flourishing in summer period. Besides there will be some local festivities in the villages nearby www.voose.ee; www.viikingitekyla.ee ; www.korvemaa.ee/en ; https://anijamois.ee/ which can be attended together with the hosts.The first shift in June coincides with Mid-Summer Festival, which is the largest celebration in Estonia, so those joining it can experience this Estonian ancient tradition.

The accommodation conditions on the farm will be simple but decent. Beds are provided. Please bring your sleeping bags. Toilets and showers are available. There is kitchen with all necessary equipment for cooking. Volunteers will be served food cooked by the hosts but are asked to assist cleaning.

ProgramThere are diverse activities in the camp program: canoeing, water scootering, running ATV, paintball in the forest, sport games - football, rugby, volleyball, athletics, table tennis, archery, frisbee, disc-golf, trampolines, different competitions, forest cross, sport orientation in the forest on and on sea (navigation), fishing, Viking boats, bicycle trips to explore the area, visit to the horse farm with horse riding, excursions historical places of interest in the area, active games and adventure trail in Roosta Adventure Park, picnics on a seaside, building sand and stones castles on the beach, Estonian sauna party, etc. Bikes are available for the whole camp duration free of charge. WorkThere will be also some voluntary work such as painting of community buildings, making wooden toys and games for local orphanage, repairing benches and tables, cleaning local beach and old local park from garbage, planting trees, little renovation works in the local school, clearing pavement, helping seniors living in the community with some household duties, preparing fire woods for heating, berries and herbs picking to give the crop to the orphanage and seniors home, duty in a kitchen and around the camp once in a shift, etc. The work will be organised in cooperation with local forestry department, municipality of Nova and local school. Please note that the work described above is planned for the whole summer and it may change from one shift to another depending on local needs, the season and weather conditions.

This camp is organized for teenagers by youth sport club Lukas-Basket which has been running national youth camps for 25 years and International ones for the past 12 years. International teenage camps will be hosted on seaside in the West of Estonia in Laanemaa County in the municipality of Nova. Beautiful nature, numerous historical places, 200 years long tradition of health resort, unique cultural events are the treasures of the County. Nova with warm sea, white sand, mushroom and berry crops, picturesque lakes, cobble stone road and many places of interest is ideal place for leisure. The aim of Nova camp is to give young people possibility to have active, healthy and meaningful summer vacations with different sport adventures, to enjoy unspoiled nature and to learn to live in harmony with it, also to explore and realize their own capacities and limits. The program will include water activities, sport and ball games, eco-hikes, bicycle trips to places of interest, horse riding, fishing, rowing, acquaintance with local culture and many other exciting things. Mens sana in corpore sano (Healthy Spirit in Healthy Body) i this is the message of the camp Besides all this, camp gives possibility for intensive contacts between local youth and their peers from abroad, showing youngsters the diversity of world cultures, broadening their horizons and encouraging active communication through games and creative activities. Finally, there will be some voluntary work for nature protection and to support local community. The area of the camp is about 3 hectares and it can host over 60 youngsters on one shift. The age of local participants is 10-18. Local teenagers are mainly Russian-speaking of minority communities of Estonia. AccommodationIn wooden huts set by the local school nearby the seaside (500 m away). Please bring your sleeping bag and mat. Showers, toilets are provided in the school and there will be additional bio-toilets set on camping site. You can have traditional Estonian sauna every dayCateringMeals are served 3 times a day. There are water machines with cold water in the school complex. Catering takes place in the schools mess hall or into the lager tent outside near the mess. Meals are cooked by professional cooks. Special requirementsParticipants have to be sporty (e.g. be ready to run up to 3 km, bike up to 30 km), independent enough, curious and interested in active life style. Please inform us beforehand about allergies, dietary requirements you have or others prescriptions from your doctor. Please bring sleeping bag and mat, wind and waterproof clothes, goods shoes, warm and summer clothes. It s advisable to take thermal underwear. If possible, please take tick vaccination before coming. Generally, age of participants is 14-17, however exceptions are possible. NB Smoking, drinking alcohol, using drugs is absolutely prohibited in the camp and this policy will be followed strictly Thus, if you cannot quit smoking for a while it is probably better not to come. Camp common language is English. Local languages are Estonian and Russian.Participation feeUnlike the normal camp there will be not too much of work here. Nevertheless, participants will be provided with board, lodging, local transportation and all equipment necessary to realize camp program. Besides, program involves a lot of extra costs for excursions, trips out, visits, sport activities, equipment, materials and general administration and leadership. Since neither EstYES nor its local camp partner, does not receive financial support for this camp from municipality or private sources, to realize this camp we have to charge participation fee of 500 Euro, which covers all camp and program costs including transfer from Tallinn to and from the camp, and which has to be paid by bank transfer before the camp or by participants upon arrival to the camp. The bank details will be provided after the acceptance of the participant to the camp. NB Participants coming from outside Europe are asked to consult with us before paying fee by bank transfer to reduce high banking charges.

Terminal and arrivals/ departureAirport, bus station, harbor in Tallinn; specially arranged bus to Nova. Pick up in the airport will be organized. Then participants will be accompanied either to the direct public bus or to taxi to go to the meeting point at Oismae tee 177, Oismae Sportmangude Hall (Sport Hall of Games) where group leaders will be waiting for them.On arrival day there is relaxation, getting to know each other, ball games in the sport hall, dinner, lodging for the night at the sport hall. Showers and WC are in the facility of the sport hall. On the next day there is a breakfast at 8 am and departure to camp site. On the last day of the camp there is a breakfast and departure at 11:30 am from the camp with the arrival to Tallinn airport by 13:00. If your departure is scheduled to an earlier hour a special transfer from the camp to the airport can be booked at additional fee. In case of earlier arrival or later departure accommodation in hostel can be booked upon request.

Work

Since the school is considered a hub for many important activities, it is also noteworthy that various local organizations have strong connections with it. This will be the case here as well. Since the project can only be defined by three areas on this platform, we cannot describe everything that will take place, but we can elaborate further here. Volunteers will undertake numerous tasks in cooperation with different associations in Požega. With social organizations, decisions will be made about which families require additional support, allowing volunteers to assist those in need with their regular activities. Volunteers will also visit the local association for people with cerebral paralysis, where they will provide help and conduct workshops. Additionally, they will participate in activities at the local Gerontological Center, where they will assist in taking care of the garden and meet elderly people who will be happy to interact with the guests. Moreover, there will be tasks to perform in the school’s yard, such as picking raspberries (one of Serbia's national fruits) and blackberries (another popular fruit in the country). Serbia is indeed a land of fruits. Volunteers will also be involved in planting seeds, removing unwanted plants, and feeding the animals—just a few of the planned activities during their stay in this beautiful location.

Agricultural high school is founded in 1956. and from that moment it works constantly with youth on important topic like the producing food is. The school is regional center and it offers many opportunities for those who need to obtain certain knowledges in the field of plant and animal treatments. Since 2002. it aims to modernize its methods, so that is why they try to participate in many different projects, in order to give to the local youth wider perspectives on life. Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS) was founded in 1976. Our main aims are environmental protection and education, promotion of sustainable development, work with young people in an international context, promotion of scientific creativity and voluntarism and its values. Voluntary Service of Serbia is a volunteer exchange service center founded in 1990 as one of the sectors of YRS.

Location

Požega is a charming town located in the nature-rich region of Western Serbia. The town center offers a lively atmosphere, especially during the summer, where volunteers can experience the local vibe. However, the school is situated a little outside the center, surrounded by parks, providing a peaceful environment where volunteers can relax during their free time. The school has sports fields for recreational activities, and the town features a swimming pool, which could be a great way to spend some hot days. There are also opportunities for excursions in the area, with more details available in the Infosheet. The only advice we have for this adventure is to bring patience and a smile – it will surely make for an unforgettable and pleasant experience!

Accomodation

The volunteers will be accommodated in the school dormitory, where they will stay in rooms with 2-3 beds and a bathroom (essentially resembling a 3-star hotel). Linen will be provided for their stay. Food will be prepared collectively in the kitchen of the dormitory. Several workshops will be organized to teach the volunteers how to make traditional Serbian meals.

Requirements

There are no specific requirements, but if you want to make your life easier, bring sunscreen, adequate clothes and mosquito repellent as it gets hot and humid during the summer in Serbia.

Immerse yourself in medieval adventure by working with the team of local volunteers: set up the installations, run the stands, cook and contribute to the success of the fair! This job combines technical skills, physical strength and organization. You'll help set up and dismantle stalls, tents, and barnums. You'll contribute to the signage, traffic plan and layout. Take care of general fair logistics, including cooking and cleaning. Run stands such as the bar, pancake stand and much more. Please note: during the first and last weeks, the work will be particularly physical, with heavy lifting and busy days. Take up the challenge and live this memorable medieval experience!

Location

Leisure time is organized collectively with the whole group. During the second week and weekends, you'll be busy with the fair. Discovering the region will therefore take place in the last week. You'll have the chance to take part in concerts, workshops, exhibitions and other events organized in conjunction with the fair!

Accomodation

Your collective dormitory will be located in a municipal building. Food is provided and meals are prepared by volunteers in turn in a permanent kitchen. Lunchtime meals are taken with other festival volunteers. Bring your favorite recipes with you!
