To understand how the food we eat in our daily life is produced. To learn about the impact of food production on the environment. To learn new ways of food production through sustainable practices. To learn about the work the bees do and how to help them.
As a volunteer on a workcamp, it is compulsory to work around 20-30 hours per week with the other participants. This project requires to work with agricultural tools like machetes, hoes, shovels. Be close to animals, insects, soil and get dirty. We expect 10 to 12 participants. The organization reserves the right to cancel the program in case of not having enough participants. People from 18 years all are welcomed. The group will work on activities on the field on organic agriculture, restoration of soil, organic orchards and bee keeping. The activities include preparing the soil, preparing compost, planting and harvesting. Cleaning paths on the cloudy forest and taking care of farm animals.
The Chiriboga Foundation is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation. It has no religious, racial or political conflicts. The Foundation was originally created with the objective of recovering the deforested areas of the San Francisco private reserve.
You will be hosted in the middle of the cloudy forest. Afternoons and evenings will be to share with the group, according to the group interests on dynamics, seminars, craft making, playing sports, swimming in the river, taking walks in the forest, riding horses or sharing around a bonfire.
The volunteers will be hosted in shared rooms with shared bathrooms. All meals will be provided. There is no internet connection in the place.

It is better to have long pants and long sleeves shirts to protect you from mosquitoes or sun. o Cap or hat. o Towel o Swimming suit. o Personal hygiene products. o Lintern. o Environmentally friendly soap.

Ciudadela San José - La Magdalena. As a group we are going to travel to the Reserve where the workcamp will take part, located next to the Chiriboga town, 50.5 km away from Quito.
