VOLUNTEER WORK: Being part of our volunteer and stewarding team is an amazing opportunity to carry out some meaningful volunteering whilst also having the opportunity to enjoy all Elderflower Fields has to offer (for no cost!). You will be part of the amazing community which comes together to make the festival happen, many of whom come back year after year and will be on hand to show you the ropes. It is a hugely rewarding experience in which you will have an amazing time and make great friends. Volunteers will be part of the field team – the eyes and ears of the festival. Volunteering in pairs, you will look after a specific area of the event and act as a contact point for the guests. Therefore, it is important that you have a good level of listening and speaking English! You may be answering questions, offering directions and helping people find their way around the site. After initial training and learning you will be able to identify if anything needs rectifying. You will be in contact with Event Control, reporting any incidents and feeding information to the public. This is a fantastic volunteering opportunity for anyone interested in getting into event management with real on-the-ground responsibility at a large arts event. As you will arrive a few days before the festival begins there will be several tasks to get the site ‘festival ready’ and after the festival there will be jobs to revert the site back to its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
PROJECT: Elderflower Fields was born in 2012 out of a desire to create a new festival designed especially for families and children. The festival sold over a thousand tickets, and everyone loved it, the sun was shining, kids played, and people danced. The festival was so popular that it happened again in 2013 and then a new bigger venue in 2014. Pippingford Park is set in an Area of Outstanding natural beauty. The host intentionally keeps Elderflower Fields small – this is part of what makes it such a safe and special festival. Designed especially for those with young children as an opportunity for little festival first timers to dip their toes into a magical world of music, fun and nature. Families return year after year for a weekend filled with new experiences, exploration and celebration. Elderflower Fields is an independent festival, created by So Sussex and put together by a small but hardworking team to create a magical experience for their audience. The rest of the festival is made up of friends, family and amazing volunteers – hopefully including you!
Elderflower Fields is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – before the festival is running there will be lots of opportunities to explore and walk around the natural environment. During the festival you will have free time to enjoy and explore all the festival has to offer including music, food, activities and workshops, it really is amazing! You can look at last year's festival here. On the last day, Concordia will help arrange transport to nearby Brighton, so that volunteers can visit the historic city and seafront to complete their experience.
ACCOMMODATION & FOOD: Volunteers will be camping at the site, in the ‘crew paddock’ area which is used by all festival crew. Concordia will provide simple tents. Volunteers will need to bring sleeping bags and roll mats. They will have access to hot showers/hot water for the duration of the volunteering project. The Crew HQ is a sheltered area where volunteers are able to charge devices, rest and relax when not volunteering. There is a microwave and hot water urn at the Crew HQ, volunteers can bring any snacks/additional food they wish to consume during the festival – please be aware there is no oven and minimal fridge space, so nonperishable foods are advisable. Volunteers will be provided with three meals a day. Cereal, Tea and Coffee will be provided at the Crew HQ for breakfast. Volunteers will receive a £10 ‘voucher’ for both Lunch and Dinner which can be used at any of the available food vendors. Please take note that £10 is enough to get you a substantial meal, however there are some items which will cost more than £10, if you wish to pay the difference you can. On days where there is no festival, volunteers will be provided with a lunchtime sandwich and evening meal. Please check the weather forecast here and pack accordingly. IMPORTANT: – Even in the British Summertime it can be VERY COLD AT NIGHT – please ensure you bring enough warm clothes. Wet weather clothing and footwear is also strongly recommended, as the site can get muddy and even the summer can bring a rainy day. Please note, to meet the sustainability requirements of the festival, long hall flights (further than Europe) should be combined with longer stays.
Volunteers need to be able to work outdoors in various types of weather, walking on uneven ground is required. Please note, to meet the sustainability requirements of the festival, long hall flights (further than Europe) should be combined with longer stays.
Concordia can assist with travel to the site.

PHASE ONE: PREPARATION During this phase, the festival is taking form, as we build it up from the ground, starting from the basics as tents and practical stuff, and finishing off with the small final details. Every year we come up with new ideas and plans, we need to decorate the whole area, and that includes building graffiti walls, painting signs, and placing items around the festival. There will of course be a lot of time in the beginning to get to know each other. We would really value it if volunteers can help us with other creative ideas. PHASE TWO: THE FESTIVAL This phase is the most stressful but also the most fun! In this phase of the festival, we invite all our beautiful guests to the festival we created in the last couple of days. There will be shifts for every volunteer in different locations, such as the entrance, festival area, cleaning toilets, and other jobs. There will of course be space for a lot of fun and just vibing. PHASE THREE: CLEANING This phase starts already Sunday morning when the guests begin to return home, as we pack everything down. This mostly takes us all of Sunday, so there will be time to pack up and say goodbye on Monday. FREETIME Since the camp is so short there will be no days off. The closer we get to the start of the festival there would be more to do. Working hours from Tuesday till Thursday will be from 10:00 in the morning till 20:00. Friday and Saturday there will only be a few shifts we have to cover, and the rest is time off, where you can meet Danish people and experience our festival.
Gnist Festival is a music and art festival created by and for young people based outside any major city. It's a two-day festival with a lot of music acts, art exhibitions, and other major activities such as community dance, techno yoga, talks, short films, and many more. We value the spirit of the youth, culture, and all different kinds of art and music. Please take a look at our Instagram to see what we do: https://www.instagram.com/gnistfestival/
The area is close to the sea, and it is a bit out in the countryside. The area is an old military missile launcher site, but it’s empty except for two garages we use. The event is at the end of May, and therefore it can be good to bring some nice fleeces and cozy clothing when you’re going to be outside all day!
Get ready for the full festival experience! Sleeping + bathroom facilities: The festival has a sleeping area, where during the actual festival days, the guests and the volunteers will sleep in tents. We will also sleep in that area on the days leading up to the festival days. We can provide tents for you. You just need to bring sleeping bags and an air mattress or similar. Let us know if you need anything, we can maybe lend you it. We will have a trailer bathroom available for you. Meals + kitchen facilities: You’ll have access to a trailer bathroom to freshen up after a day of action. Every day, our amazing local chef Jens will serve one hot, delicious meal to keep you going. For the rest, we’ll keep it simple with DIY toasts and sandwiches—quick, easy, and perfect for on-the-go volunteers! Once the festival kicks off, the food scene explodes with awesome food stands and big community meals, so you’ll never go hungry!
English will be the only language spoken. All participants must be willing to speak English, even though they are from the same country or have trouble with the English language. Try your best! It is very important for us, to get volunteers that are creative, and who can take initiative. We are looking for volunteers who are independent and will contribute to the project with innovative ideas.
Meeting Point and Time: Store Heddinge St. May 27th between 13:00-15:00. Arrival at Copenhagen Airport: To make it to your meeting point in time, your flight must arrive no later than 12:00 on the first camp day. From the airport, you take a train to Copenhagen Central St. From there you can take a train to Køge St. where there is a local train that goes to Store Heddinge St. This is where we will pick you up. The total travel time from the airport to the meeting point will be approximately 2 hours and cost around 20 €. Just let us know if anything happens so we can help you out. Further details on travel arrangements and purchasing of train/bus tickets will be provided in your infosheet after acceptance. If you are not able to make it in time to the meeting point, please consider arriving one day early and booking a hostel.

Volunteers will help in preparing the local festival ("Gnezdo"-Nest fest). Tasks include mowing the lawns, limiting the space for guests, setting up the stage, moving objects, positioning curtains, and cleaning the riverbanks (since the festival will be located on the riverbank). Volunteers will also help create improvised stairs in the ground, position signs, and set up trash bins at various locations. During the 3-day festival, volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks such as giving instructions, directing people, answering questions, and transporting items from one place to another. At the end of the festival, volunteers will help select content to publish on social media.
"Fakiri sa juga" (Fakirs-faquirs from the South) is a non-governmental and non-profit association founded in Kruševac in 2017. Their work started when they took care of one ruined (abandoned) object of the local football club together with many volunteers. Now, it is AKC "Gnezdo" (alternative cultural center), a unique place where youth can express itself through performances, workshops, movie projections, etc. The goals of this association are cultivation of new artistic expressions, informal education, mediation, and creating dialogue, as well as supporting persons in developing their full creative potential. Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS) was founded in 1976. Our main aims are environmental protection and education, promotion of sustainable development, work with young people in an international context, promotion of scientific creativity and voluntarism and its values. Voluntary Service of Serbia is a volunteer exchange service center founded in 1990 as one of the sectors of YRS.
Kruševac is the medieval capital of Serbia, built around 1371. Its name, says one legend, comes from the name of a certain type of stone, with which the main part of the city is built. It has a beautiful center with several objects (monuments) from the old times (primarily there is the church "Lazarica"). Various monuments from different eras can be seen in the town. Bagdala is the hill above the town, so as a nice picnic area, it can be visited. It is a place with a very romantic view down there, so it is not strange that many couples use it as their favorite walking goal. Also, families with kids can be met there, so it makes us question if it's just the same people that continued to attend the same place (could be). During the festival, but also outside of it, there will be many workshops, movie projections, and musical performances, so the volunteers can enjoy all of that and much more. Also, it is located at the beach, so refreshment in Rasina river can be helpful in the warm summer days. An excursion to the nearby mountain will probably be organized. Just bring patience and a smile and the great adventure will be there!
The volunteers will be accommodated in tents on the riverbank. Tents and sleeping bags will be provided, but you can always bring your own for extra comfort. In case of bad weather, some nights may be spent in the house, AKC "Gnezdo." The showers are solar-powered, so a schedule will need to be organized to ensure everyone has access. Regarding food, it will be prepared by volunteers in shifts, using ingredients purchased for them. On some occasions, cooking will take place outdoors in a kettle (large casserole).
.
From whatever airport, you just take some of numerous busses to Kruševac and you are there.

Want to take part in one of the biggest jazz festivals while getting hands-on experience? Join us for a unique international work camp at Villa Louise, a creative hub in the heart of the Gers, preparing to welcome artists and festival-goers in a warm and eco-friendly setting. During this experience, you will learn the basics of ecological carpentry and contribute to meaningful projects: building dry toilets, expanding the terrace, setting up a workshop, maintaining the vegetable garden… Essential elements to enhance the festival experience and create a welcoming and sustainable space. Alongside the site owners and the Concordia team, you will develop practical skills in a friendly and musical atmosphere. By joining this project, you will contribute to a local and solidarity-driven initiative, helping to boost Marciac’s appeal and the well-being of its visitors. This work camp is a unique opportunity to learn as a team, see your efforts come to life, and immerse yourself in the magic of the festival.
Villa Louise is a creative hub located at the gateway to Marciac. Founded in 2023, this association provides a space for sharing and hosts creative workshops. Throughout the year, it offers common areas dedicated to the design and realization of artistic and experimental projects in various fields such as culture, spatial planning, visual arts, social initiatives, and environmental projects. It also serves as a residence for local artists. During the Jazz in Marciac festival, Villa Louise transforms into a vibrant venue for festivities and dining. Artists and volunteers stay there during the event, organizing themed evenings and games, creating a unique and lively experience for festival-goers.
Marciac, with a population of 1,200, is located in the Gers department of the Occitanie region, 50 km from the departmental capital, Auch. The town is on the border of the Hautes-Pyrénées, in a picturesque rolling landscape historically known as Pays d’Astarac. If Marciac has already charmed you, there are plenty of activities around the town. Explore the stunning village of Tillac, visit the Musée d'Artagnan, or cool off on hot summer days at Lac de Marciac. From July 21st, the magic begins with Jazz in Marciac, a legendary jazz festival created in 1978 by a group of enthusiasts following a concert by the renowned musician Bill Coleman. Today, it is one of the most iconic jazz festivals in the world, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The town comes alive with both free and ticketed concerts, as well as a vibrant scene of food trucks, artisans, and pop-up stalls. The festival’s unique atmosphere, its stunning setting, and its mix of world-class performances and local charm make it an unforgettable experience.
For most of the project, you will stay in a dormitory on the second floor of Villa Louise, offering a friendly and comfortable space to relax after a day's work. The accommodation is in a solid building, with a shared common room, several bedrooms where everyone will have a dedicated sleeping area, and a small kitchenette. At the end of your stay, during the first days of the festival, you will camp in a tent provided by Concordia. A fully equipped kitchen is available for meal preparation. Meals will be organized collectively, focusing on local and seasonal products. Everyone will have the chance to contribute, encouraging responsible eating and a spirit of sharing. For the comfort of volunteers, a washing machine is available on-site, as well as Wi-Fi throughout the building. Villa Louise also offers a banya, a traditional Russian steam bath heated with a wood stove, providing a perfect place to unwind after work. This living environment fosters an immersive experience in a space designed for meaningful exchanges and discovery, fully in tune with the spirit of the work camp and the Jazz in Marciac festival.
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country. This project is supported by the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) program for young people between 18 and 30. It is open to all volunteers that fit the ESC criteria. The participation to ESC volunteering teams is subjected to several principles and conditions, presented on the ESC webpage: https://europa.eu/youth/solidarity/mission_en - volunteers do not have to pay any fee (neither sending, nor participation fee) to attend the project and will receive financial support for their travel, according to a maximum amount established depending on their travel distance and upon the presentation of original tickets; - volunteers need to enrol in the PASS, the ESC Portal; then Concordia France will organise their matching, on the online system, with the volunteering project; - volunteers will receive pocket money, calculated on the basis of 8€/day, once they arrive at the project in France; - volunteers will have to complete a participation report, submitted online through the portal.
The meeting point is at Tarbes SNCF train station at 6 PM, accessible from Toulouse, Bordeaux, and Paris. Train reservations are available approximately four months before departure on the SNCF website: https://www.sncf-connect.com/ Whenever possible, use low-carbon transport solutions to get to the site: trains rather than planes, public transport rather than private cars.
What to Bring : Pack work clothes, hiking shoes, and a swimsuit. Nights can be chilly, so bring warm clothes, a good sleeping bag, and an inflatable mattress or sleeping mat. Feel free to bring recipes from your country or region, musical instruments, and games to share moments of joy with fellow volunteers. The last day (24/07) is reserved for departure, usually in the morning.

Buddhafield (www.buddhafield.com) is an English Buddhist collective that is part of the international Buddhist movement, the Triratna Buddhist Community (http://thebuddhistcentre.com). Buddhafield emerged out of the coming together of Buddhism and ecological awareness in the 1990s. Buddhafield is inspired by the ideal of living and working more simply and kindly in a community informed by awareness of our interconnections with each other and with nature. We run a programme of camping activities in the South West of England and own two beautiful pieces of land, which we are committed to managing sustainably and which we use for several events each year (not the Festival itself). We are perhaps best known for organising the much-loved Buddhafield Festival, now in its 23rd year, and for the Buddhafield Café, which provides vegan food at festivals like the Glastonbury Festival.
Needless to say, in order for the Festival to be a life-enhancing and indeed for some a life-transforming experience, much hard work is required. From the day we arrive in an empty field with a small vanguard, our numbers gradually swell until we have around eight hundred volunteers welcoming the three thousand visitors. The set-up crew erect the structures that will act as kitchens and venues. They establish the infrastructure such as plumbing, compost toilets, showers and saunas. They make the site beautiful and safe with flags, bunting, paths, fences and lighting. Then during the Festival we have stewards to welcome and guide festival goers, to manage parking and traffic and to attend to people's well-being. Toilet wizards maintain the compost toilets. A team of recyclers sorts materials so as to minimize landfill. The kitchen crew feed volunteers and festival goers alike. The site crew look after the infrastructure, tents, water etc. During the set-up phase, volunteers will get one day off and during the festival two days either as full days or half days, depending on the needs of the particular teams. VAP/IVS volunteers will be invited to work in one of a number of areas before and during the festival, for example: the Healing area, the Buddhafield cafe, site crew, recycling and 'toilet wizards', décor, welcome and departure teams. During the Festival the volunteers will have work shifts, but will also have time to enjoy the huge variety of events taking place and facilities available as outlined above. Volunteers are asked to attend daily morning meetings, the exact time depending on what area of work they choose to join. The work is very team-based. The whole enterprise runs on goodwill, awareness of each others' needs, good communication and mutual support. During set-up and take-down there will be organised events around Buddhist themes, attendance at which is completely voluntary. There are generally also alternatives such as spontaneous musical gatherings, often around a fire. They will also have someone on site who is their direct contact for support and pastoral care. They will meet as a group together each day.
.
.
Volunteers should bring their own tents, sleeping bag, sleeping mat and everything you would need for a camping trip. Weather can range from very hot in the sun to very cold at night, so please bring plenty of blankets as well as sun cream, warm-weather clothes and proper waterproof jackets and trousers. Showers and toilet facilities are outdoors and though cleaner and better cared for than other festivals, they are outdoors and basic. Buddhafield will provide 100% vegan food and hot drinks and snacks are available throughout the day. If you need animal products, you will have to bring with you a supply of food that does not need refrigeration.
Volunteers should send together with the application form a Police Check stating they do not have a criminal record. Volunteers will be interviewed by VAP/IVS via zoom or whatsapp before they get the final acceptance in the project.
Once in Taunton, there are two buses per day which can drop you within 10 minutes walk of the Festival site. The bus stops are about 15 minutes walk from Taunton station and five minutes from the coach station.

Most of the time volunteers will work at the Jewish cemetery and in the Shakhs synagogue where you will help with the maintenance of outdoor areas (cleaning pavements, weeding, cutting and raking grass, maintaining graveyards, etc.) You will also help with the preparation of the Jewish Culture Festival which takes place in Holesov during the workcamp (moving and installing various equipment for events etc.). The work can sometimes be moderately physically demanding. Please, bring suitable shoes and working clothes. You will also work on the weekend (because of the festival) but you will get enough time off on other days.
The workcamp is organised in cooperation with Municipal Cultural Center Holesov, a non-profit organization that manages most of the Jewish monuments in the city and organizes the Festival of Jewish Culture. The workcamp takes place in Holesov, a small Moravian town, known for its large pre- second world war Jewish community. There is an important Jewish heritage in Holesov – an old synagogue and also a grave of one of the greatest Jewish scholars - Rabbi Shakh. The goal of this workcamp is to maintain the Jewish cemetery, help with the organization of the festival and learn about Jewish heritage. At this workcamp, you will actively contribute to the achievement of United Nation Sustainable Development Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Location: The project takes place in Holesov (12,000 inhabitants), a historical town located in the south-east of the Czech Republic. It is well known for its important Jewish heritage such as a rare synagogue from the 16th century or Holesov cemetery - an important place of pilgrimage for Jews. There is good phone coverage everywhere around the town, ATMs and pharmacies.
