Work

The main task is harvesting various berries and vegetables such as rhubarb, currants, raspberries, Japanese quince, then helping juice making and products packaging. But there is also weed control and fertilization with mulch in plantations, mowing grass, cutting branches, removal of bushes and wood chipping, assistance in the construction of various small buildings, vegetable beds and other necessary structures on the site, painting as well. And there is ongoing work of planting seeds. Working hours are 5-7 hours a day for 5 days a week. The exact work depends on season and partly on weather conditions.

For many years EstYES has been cooperating with eco-farms around Estonia demonstrating solidarity and respect to their work and supporting local people, who keep agricultural traditions and develop eco-farming in Estonia. Organic farm Kingu is one of them. This is a berry, fruit and vegetable micro-farm in the South Estonia. The main berry crops are raspberries, various currants, gooseberries, Japanese quince, garlic and rhubarb. Everything is grown in an environmentally sustainable way using straw and hay. The farm promotes sustainable lifestyle, and this camp is proposed for volunteers who appreciate and share its values, want to learn more and to help hard working people in country side.NB It is possible to stay for several shifts in a row.

LocationThe farm is located in Kanepi municipality just 11 km from Otepaa and 47 km from Tartu. When coming from Tartu, choose a bus to Voru and get off at the Saverna stop. Buses stop there quite often, travel takes about 40 minutes. Also you can come through Otepaa. Knowing you arrival time and place hosts will pick you up from there. Bus information is on www.tpilet.ee or www.luxexpress.ee. The farm is located in the tiny village of Aiaste. It is important to understand that it is calm and quiet place (there are no events in the village). But with nice weather, it is possible to watch animals like deer on the field, foxes in a strawberry bed and storks. While sitting by the fire at night, enjoy stars in the sky and listen to the nature sounds by animals such as badgers or raccoons.Leisure timeIt is possible to swim, make a fire, play volleyball, disc golf and other games or go for mushroom picking if you like it. There is a swimming lake in Valgjarv 4 km away. You can use various hiking trails. If interested you can visit nearby farms where you can get to know horses, sheep and other animals and see many other interesting things. Accomodation

Farm life conditions are simple but decent. Sleeping is in a separate house in beds. Bed sheets, blankets and pillows are provided, so no need for sleeping bag. There is outdoor kitchen with all necessary equipment. Volunteers can make breakfast and lunch themselves, and dinner will be prepared by and taken with the family. Washing is in the sauna. There is a dry organic toilet. Volunteers have to take care of their surroundings by cleaning up after themselves.

SEEDS volunteers will have the opportunity to work on the historical island of Vioey for the 19th year in a row with our host, the city of Reykjavik. Vioey is a popular destination during the summer among Icelandic and foreign visitors. Volunteers will help prepare the island for the summer season. Volunteers will beautify the surroundings by cleaning up the area, especially along the coastline, for instance by hand-picking garbage or collecting trash blown by the wind or brought by the sea to the shores and surroundings.SEEDS volunteers may carry out some gardening activities as well and possibly make and maintain walking paths. Well maintained paths enable people to visit the island without damaging it and this important work also helps to improve safety for visitors. Depending on the advance of the project and weather conditions, volunteers may have other possible tasks such as checking up and repairing garden furniture.The working day normally runs from 09:00 - 17:00 with breaks for lunch and coffee; however, please be prepared for some flexibility due to the nature of Iceland s changeable weather, as we may not be able to perform some of the tasks or activities planned. The temperature in May can drop during the evenings. Volunteers should have motivation to work outside and work in all kinds of weather, as it can get cold and rainy. The working plan is flexible and it will depend on the needs of our host. No previous experience is necessary.

Location

Vioey or Wood Island is the largest (1.7 km) island in the Kollafjorour Bay, just outside Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. The island is covered by many species of plants and at least 30 species of breeding birds have been counted here. Vioey was inhabited soon after the settlement of Iceland in the 10th century. In the beginning of the 20th century, around 100 people lived there. Today the island is uninhabited.There is a regular ferry connection between the island and the harbour of Reykjavik. The island is only a few hundred metres away from the city and the trip takes a few minutes. This makes Vioey so special; it is a peaceful place, very close to the busy city life of the capital. There are hiking and cycling paths around the island and there is no motor traffic allowed. It also features intriguing sculptural artwork, amongst them all nine pairs of basalt pillars that comprise Richard Serra s work Afangar and Yoko Ono s Imagine Peace column, a tower of light, which is supported by the widow of John Lennon. Other places of interest on Vioey are related to archaeological research.

Accomodation

SEEDS volunteers will be lodged in a local house on Vioey Island, in shared rooms. The facilities are equipped with a kitchen, shower, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms. Please bring your own sleeping bag.Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

In Preignan, a dynamic village surrounded by nature, you will help breathe new life into L’Hydroberge, a community café cherished by locals. The goal of this project is to transform this alternative space into a hub for connection and exchange while upholding values of inclusion, equality, and eco-responsibility. On-site, you will take part in preparing the venue for the summer season by building a pizza oven and outdoor wooden furniture. No prior experience is required—if you’ve never done masonry or carpentry before, don’t worry, everything can be learned on-site! What truly matters is your motivation and willingness to bring creativity to this project full of potential. Your stay will also be filled with exciting activities and local tourism, ensuring an immersive experience in the life of the village.

This café is now a cornerstone for locals, combining culture, conviviality, and creativity. During your stay, you will have the chance to take part in one of these jam sessions. Music instruments will be available, but you can bring your own to join the lively musical atmosphere of the venue. L’Hydroberge is located in Preignan, a charming village in Gers, at the heart of the Occitanie region in southern France. This picturesque village, with everything you need nearby, is just a stone’s throw from Auch, the city of d’Artagnan, known for its rich history. Preignan hosts fascinating remnants such as an ancient villa visible on the ridges. The village’s Romanesque church, at its center, was built on a former Merovingian cemetery, offering a true journey through time. The Rambert Mill, home to L’Hydroberge, is itself a historic monument and a symbol of local life. If you love history and authenticity, Gers is the ideal place to explore France in a unique way. You can discover the Santiago de Compostela trails, visit archaeological sites like the Gallo-Roman villa of Seviac, and more! The region is also home to the Occitan language, adding even more charm to its rich character.

Accomodation

You will sleep in individual tents (provided by Concordia) with access to sanitary facilities, showers, and a kitchen. Everyone will take turns preparing meals and managing the living space (organizing schedules, cleaning, shopping, etc.). Tasks will be shared collectively, and meals will be prepared together (mainly vegetarian). A budget will be allocated to the team leaders, and you will participate in grocery shopping, prioritizing healthy and locally sourced products. Laundry will be done by hand. Wi-Fi is not available

Requirements

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country. This project is supported by the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) program for young people between 18 and 30. It is open to all volunteers that fit the ESC criteria. The participation to ESC volunteering teams is subjected to several principles and conditions, presented on the ESC webpage: https://europa.eu/youth/solidarity/mission_en - Volunteers do not have to pay any fee (neither sending, nor participation fee) to attend the project and will receive financial support for their travel, according to a maximum amount established depending on their travel distance and upon the presentation of original tickets; - Volunteers need to enrol in the PASS, the ESC Portal; then Concordia France will organise their matching, on the online system, with the volunteering project; - Volunteers will receive pocket money, calculated on the basis of 6€/day, once they arrive at the project in France; - Volunteers will have to complete a participation report, submitted online through the portal.

Meeting point

The meeting point is AUCH Train Station on the 14th of May at 6 PM. There are regular trains to AUCH from TOULOUSE Matabiau station. From PARIS, you can take the train from Montparnasse train station to TOULOUSE Matabiau train station, regular departures are scheduled throughout the day (about every hour). The trip last for about 4.5 hours, once in TOULOUSE Matabiau train station.Trains are open to booking about 4 months before the departure dates, available on the following website: https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/ If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel. Consider taking clothes and footwear suited for work and hiking (including rain clothes). Bring a warm sleeping bag and a good floor mat, tents are provided but if you want, you can bring your own tent. Don’t forget to bring a bathing suit in case you go swimming. Location

Lilly is a picturesque Norman village in the Eure department, surrounded by lush green landscapes. It’s located between Rouen and Évreux, offering access to Normandy’s cultural and historical treasures, including Rouen Cathedral, the Jumièges and Bec-Hellouin abbeys, and the Seine River loops. With forests and meadows surrounding Lilly, it’s ideal for hiking, wildlife observation, and exploring Normandy’s rural heritage. Nearby, volunteers can visit the medieval Château d’Harcourt, the charming village of Lyons-la-Forêt, or Giverny, famous for Monet’s gardens. The animation team will organize outings and activities to fully explore the region's historical and natural wonders.

Accomodation

You'll stay in tents in the manor's gardens, with a marquee set up as a communal living space. Toilets and a shower are available in the owner’s building, as well as in an additional caravan. Note: the caravan has dry toilets (which require cleaning), and the shower needs to be manually heated. The living conditions are rustic, adding to the charm of the site’s history. Community life will be central to the experience: share daily tasks and cook together. A camp leader will manage the budget for grocery shopping, encouraging the use of fresh, local, and seasonal products for healthy and mostly vegetarian meals.

Requirements

This project is supported by the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) program for young people aged 18-30. Volunteers must meet the ESC criteria and follow the guidelines listed here: European Solidarity Corps. - No participation or sending fees are required. During this camp, participants can share their love for (and learn more about) global and amp; local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management, animal protection and sustainability, and you also love taking photographs, making videos or want to develop your photography skills, then this project is for youWhile developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers and amp; travellersYou will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits. Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a geothermal power plant, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an outdoor Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, as well as availability or restrictions of our partner organisations.You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.

ReykjavEk is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic. It is an international city with a lively cosmopolitan cultural scene surrounded by beautiful nature.One of the two options below is also included in this camp as a hands-on volunteering activity day:1. A day trip to the Hot River area, combined with a cleanup or work with an environmental project in the area, or2. A day trip to the Reykjanes peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.Some excursions (e.g. to the Golden Circle and/or South Shore) can be arranged at discount fares if there is free time after the camp workshops/sessions.

As part of the camp, volunteers help maintain the center through tasks like gardening, renovating the house and other projects such as removing old fences to protect wildlife, marking walking paths, and potentially do forestry work like trimming or planting trees.This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should be prepared to share environmental issues from their home countries and be ready to spend time outdoors. Volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule. Depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities as planned.

PROJECT: This camp is part of SEEDS ongoing efforts to raise awareness, promote engagement in environmental issues and to support sustainability, organic and permaculture farming, social inclusion, education and hands-on actions in the field. Volunteers will gain insights into local and global challenges through non-formal educational activities such as hands-on work, visits, discussions, and workshops. SEEDS volunteers have the opportunity to participate in different projects in collaboration with Landvernd (the Icelandic Environmental Organization), the EcoVillage at Solheimar, the Icelandic Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, Umhverfisstofnun (the Icelandic Environmental Agency) and Blai Herinn (the Blue Army).

Location

LOCATION: The accommodation is located an hour drive south-east from Reykjavik. The house serves as an environmental-educational centre and sits under Ingolfsfjall, The Mountain of Ingolfur, with a view of Eyjafjallajokull where the volcanic eruptions began in March and April 2010. The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found throughout the area, which is a popular attraction among both foreign and local visitors. The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away, with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafes and bars.

ACCOMMODATION: SEEDS volunteers stay in an old farm which has been transformed into an environmental education centre. You love heritage and nature and want to make yourself useful? Come contribute to the development of the heritage trails in Clermont L'Hérault! The municipality wishes to maintain these paths for the pleasure of hikers. Discover the rich heritage of the commune, with its archaeological oppidum, its castle, its small dry-stone walls, and its calades in an exceptional natural environment near the Salagou lake. Your work will consist of preserving the Clermont-Hérault heritage by carrying out small-scale landscaping work, clearing undergrowth or even making the accesses and paths leading to these different sites safe. This work is essential to maintain these paths while allowing visitors, walkers and the curious of all horizons to come and discover this rich heritage!

Since 2015, we have had a very strong partnership with the town of Clermont l'Hérault and local associations that promote the discovery of local heritage. Our delegation's office is located in the town. We also run a number of volunteering projects for local young people in the area. We work closely with volunteers from local heritage associations. This project, which involves enhancing the calade on the communal path, is part of and contributes to the enhancement of the commune's heritage.

Location

Clermont L'Hérault is a charming little town located north of Montpellier in the South of France. Benefiting from a Mediterranean climate and a remarkable natural environment (Lac du Salagou, rivers of the Gorges de l'Hérault nearby), it also has a rich cultural heritage with its castle and its cathedral. In the heart of a preserved setting, you can enjoy outdoor activities and make cultural and festive discoveries.

Accomodation

Accommodation will be at the Lac du Salagou campsite. You will sleep in individual tents (they are provided but remember to bring your own matt and sleeping bag). You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the camp leaders. Grocery-shopping and cooking will be done collectively, by fostering healthy and local products.

Requirements

This project is supported by the program European Solidarity Corps for young people between 18 and 30 years. It is open to all volunteers that fit the ESC criteria. Since 2008 World Heritage Camp has become our remarkable project focusing on heritage site preservation. We recently conduct World Heritage project in Plaosan temple which also belongs to Prambanan temple compounds. Prambanan temple compounds is a UNESCO world heritage site in Indonesia which is one of the largest temple compounds in Southeast Asia. It was built in 9th century dedicated to the three great Hindu divinities (Shiva, Wishnu and Brahma). The Prambanan temple compounds consist of Prambanan temple (also called Loro Jonggrang), Sewu temple, Bubrah temple and Lumbung temple with total about 240 temples. The temples were damaged by earthquake in 2006 and volcano ashes from Kelud mountain eruption in 2014. Until then the site management try its best to preserve the temple by restoring the damaged temple and conducting a lot of activities in collaborating with UNESCO, government and stakeholders to support the preservation.

Work

Volunteers will have restoration work. Besides, before the restoration work, the volunteers will have one day orientation about how to do the restoration and given information about the history of the temple, so that the volunteers really gain a lot of knowledge about the temples and the process of restoration. As the volunteers live in the local community of Bugisan village, they also have activities in the local school with the local students. They will promote to the students how to preserve the temple and do some activities like students competition, culture exchange etc. The volunteers will also give campaign about world heritage preservation to the local community as well as the visitors related to the world heritage especially Prambanan temple compounds.

The volunteers will be introduced to the World Heritage Centre’s activities and campaign, the history and dynamics of world heritage sites worldwide. Currently the conflict between elephants and human are rising because they have less area to live. Elephants are being squeezed into smaller area, since the local farmer plant the crops and elephants like to destroy and eat them. As a result, the elephants frequently raid and destroy the crops which will cause a conflict between human and elephant. Due to this reason, local government and organization which concerns about the wild life are working together to save or conserve the elephants and reduce the conflict. This project aiming to assist local governmental office named Way Kambas National Park which located in Elephant Conservation Centre to conserve the sanctuary. Our project IS NOT a safari place, but it is mostly as a place for elephant conservation which facing problem of critical decreasing population and threats due to illegal lodging which endanger their life. The PKG is located inside and managed by the Balai Taman Nasional Way Kambas / BTNWK (Way Kambas National Park) covering round 1.300 square kilometers in Lampung Province, Southern Sumatera Island. The park consists of swamp forest and lowland rain forest. There are around 60 elephants with 60 mahouts for each (1 mahout responsible for 1 elephant). All of the elephants in the PKG are chained when they were in the stall during the night. The purpose of putting chain in one of their legs is for monitoring, handle the elephants when they are stress, to distinguish between the PKG’s elephants and the wild one. The mahout using special tool called “gancu” (little iron hammer with curve point) to handle the elephant. The Dejavato Foundation 2025 - 2026 | Stronger with Volunteering 13 way how to use the gancu is by touching gently behind the elephant’s ear and sometimes on its head.

Work

Volunteer will help local mahout (a person who takes care and train an elephant) daily to take care the elephant starting from bathing/showering, feeding, health checking and grassing the elephant. One local mahout will be accompanied by one volunteer in doing his daily job.

Location

Turku is a beautiful old seaside city which used to be the capital of Finland before Helsinki. It is located 150 km from Helsinki and is also easily accessible by ferry from Sweden. In case you are flying, there is also a small airport in Turku, but it might be easier to fly to Helsinki and then take a train or bus to Turku.Koroinen historical farm is a nature location, on the beautiful river side valley of Aura-river. The farm is located less than 2 km of the city center. Walking and bicycle trails to the city center and upstream theriverside pass through the farm. Koroinen farm is permaculture center and a transition movement actor with 25 years long history of sustainable development work. On the farm can be found community gardening, plotgardening, crafts workshops, biodiversity art park, sauna, swimming in the river, rowing boat, bicycles and lots of community members.

Accomodation

Accommodation inside the main house, mattresses provided, please bring your own bed linen or sleeping bag with you. In the farm nature it is also possible to camp in the yard with your own tent, if you wish. Meals will be cooked together.

Volunteers will assist in picking and collecting mangrove seedlings from the forest, replanting mangroves in the open or destructed areas, collecting non-composting materials and garbage in the forest and seashore, providing environmental education and awareness, and participating in educational visits to various organizations working on environmental conservation.

Mangrove trees that are expected to stretch along coastal lines are important as animal habitats and natural seawalls. However, despite this reality, mangrove forests are among the most threatened habitats in various countries. These trees may be disappearing more quickly than other inland forests than expected. Experts are informing us that the outcome of the disappearance of mangroves will result in fisheries declines, threats to migratory bird species, degradation of clean water supplies, erosion, and land subsidence. The Sea Forest: Sea Wall Project is an initiative aimed at contributing to the conservation of the coastal environment to ensure the sustainability of islands. This project is hosted by a community-based organization, ZAVECO, which works to preserve the coastal environment.

Location

The project will be hosted in the Kibele community, south of Stone Town. The island is small, making all natural and cultural attraction sites close and easily accessible. Possibilities include visiting museums, local markets, Stone Town, Jozan Forest for wildlife tours, a spice tour, Safari Blue with water sports, swimming, and enjoying views of marine life, as well as cultural and eco-tourism among many other options.

Accomodation

Accommodation will be at the community residential house. Expect to share rooms with other volunteers. Food will be provided at the project-designated site. Volunteers with special dietary requirements are advised to provide information before arrival.

Work

World Village Festival is committed to continually improving its environmental efforts. There is only vegetarian food for sale. The festival strives to minimize waste, allowing only recyclable containers. The festival is committed to recycling all waste. The volunteers of the festival are carrying out several different tasks. The first three days the festival area is built up. This means carrying fences and tables, setting up tents, installing signs and banners, distributing the waste containers and helping with area decoration. During the festival days many volunteers are needed in the team which keeps the festival area tidy and in the recycling team which takes care that the different types of litter end in the right containers. After the festival, volunteers work with take-down work such as taking down banners, signs and decorations. After the festival volunteers will move to a seaside camp centre and have time to relax and discuss the study theme which is environmental responsibility and greenwashing.

Fingo organizes the yearly World Village Festival which is Finland s leading event for global action for the whole family, a free cultural festival, a food carnival and a trade fair for sustainable development. World Village raises global challenges and solutions, increases understanding and provides concrete ways to take action to create change. Expected number of visitors is 50 000 during the weekend 24.-25.5. There will be dozens of program concerts, discussions, workshops. In the festival area hundreds of different organisations and institutions and other actors present their work. This camp is a part of the project European Youth in Action: policymakers for climate justice, supported by the CERV programme, improving competences in concrete actions for climate justice. The horizontal theme of this camp is environmental responsibility and greenwashing.

Location

The camp happens in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Suvilahti event area which is a former power plant area that has been taken over by several cultural actors for festivals and events. Volunteers will get to enjoy nature and the sea which are never far away in Helsinki.

Accomodation

The first week volunteers will stay in a hostel near the festival site in central Helsinki, after the festival the group will move to a lovely accommodation by the seaside.

VOLUNTEER WORK: Being part of our volunteer and stewarding team is an amazing opportunity to carry out some meaningful volunteering whilst also having the opportunity to enjoy all Elderflower Fields has to offer (for no cost!). You will be part of the amazing community which comes together to make the festival happen, many of whom come back year after year and will be on hand to show you the ropes. It is a hugely rewarding experience in which you will have an amazing time and make great friends. Volunteers will be part of the field team – the eyes and ears of the festival. Volunteering in pairs, you will look after a specific area of the event and act as a contact point for the guests. Therefore, it is important that you have a good level of listening and speaking English! You may be answering questions, offering directions and helping people find their way around the site. After initial training and learning you will be able to identify if anything needs rectifying. You will be in contact with Event Control, reporting any incidents and feeding information to the public. This is a fantastic volunteering opportunity for anyone interested in getting into event management with real on-the-ground responsibility at a large arts event. As you will arrive a few days before the festival begins there will be several tasks to get the site ‘festival ready’ and after the festival there will be jobs to revert the site back to its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

PROJECT: Elderflower Fields was born in 2012 out of a desire to create a new festival designed especially for families and children. The festival sold over a thousand tickets, and everyone loved it, the sun was shining, kids played, and people danced. The festival was so popular that it happened again in 2013 and then a new bigger venue in 2014. Pippingford Park is set in an Area of Outstanding natural beauty. The host intentionally keeps Elderflower Fields small – this is part of what makes it such a safe and special festival. Designed especially for those with young children as an opportunity for little festival first timers to dip their toes into a magical world of music, fun and nature. Families return year after year for a weekend filled with new experiences, exploration and celebration. Elderflower Fields is an independent festival, created by So Sussex and put together by a small but hardworking team to create a magical experience for their audience. The rest of the festival is made up of friends, family and amazing volunteers – hopefully including you!

Location

Elderflower Fields is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – before the festival is running there will be lots of opportunities to explore and walk around the natural environment. During the festival you will have free time to enjoy and explore all the festival has to offer including music, food, activities and workshops, it really is amazing! You can look at last year's festival here. On the last day, Concordia will help arrange transport to nearby Brighton, so that volunteers can visit the historic city and seafront to complete their experience.

ACCOMMODATION & FOOD: Volunteers will be camping at the site, in the ‘crew paddock’ area which is used by all festival crew. Concordia will provide simple tents. Volunteers will need to bring sleeping bags and roll mats. They will have access to hot showers/hot water for the duration of the volunteering project. The Crew HQ is a sheltered area where volunteers are able to charge devices, rest and relax when not volunteering. There is a microwave and hot water urn at the Crew HQ, volunteers can bring any snacks/additional food they wish to consume during the festival – please be aware there is no oven and minimal fridge space, so nonperishable foods are advisable. Volunteers will be provided with three meals a day. Cereal, Tea and Coffee will be provided at the Crew HQ for breakfast. Volunteers will receive a £10 ‘voucher’ for both Lunch and Dinner which can be used at any of the available food vendors. Please take note that £10 is enough to get you a substantial meal, however there are some items which will cost more than £10, if you wish to pay the difference you can. On days where there is no festival, volunteers will be provided with a lunchtime sandwich and evening meal. Please check the weather forecast here and pack accordingly. IMPORTANT: – Even in the British Summertime it can be VERY COLD AT NIGHT – please ensure you bring enough warm clothes. Wet weather clothing and footwear is also strongly recommended, as the site can get muddy and even the summer can bring a rainy day. Please note, to meet the sustainability requirements of the festival, long hall flights (further than Europe) should be combined with longer stays.

Work

For 8 mornings of 6 hours each, you will be working on the restoration of a new part of the north facade of the redoubt, facing the Atlantic Ocean. Your job will be to remove the vegetation from the facade and the coping, before removing the pointing and repointing with lime mortar. Other traditional masonry work is planned, such as repairing the stone coping and stone cutting. You will also be taking part in workshops to raise awareness of interculturality and sustainable development.

In an idyllic setting overlooking Fort Boyard, the workcamp will involve restoring the redoubt as well as intercultural sharing between locals and volunteers in peacebuilding. Located at the mouth of the Charente, the Fouras peninsula is home to 3 harbours and 5 beaches on the Atlantic coast. The municipality of Fouras-les-Bains and the Maison des Bateleurs - Solidarités Jeunesses association have decided to renew their partnership to continue the restoration work on the Aiguille redoubt (fortress), said to be the largest in France.

Location

You can enjoy a wide range of water-based activities, such as fishing and sailing with the local clubs. The beach, seaside bike rides, beach volleyball and other surprises are all there for you to discover. You can also visit museums and towns such as La Rochelle and Rochefort. The highlights of your stay will be getting to know the locals, who will be eagerly awaiting your arrival, especially at the table for an international meal.

Accomodation

Group accommodation in tents at the Fouras *** campsite (swimming pool, multi-sports area, WIFI, snack bar...). You must bring your own warm duvet and pillow. Bicycles are available for use around town. Food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner (you will have a food budget that the leaders will manage and communicate with you throughout the work camp). Meals will be prepared in turn by you, especially for lunch and dinner, while respecting environmental values and local resources, as well as everyone's culture (hot and cold dishes as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes will be prepared).

The aim of the volunteering is most importantly to create and hold meaningful programmes regularly which support the children's development and studies (e.g. supporting Ukraine or English language courses or holding after-school workshop and day-care activities), meanwhile helping with the everyday duties (lunch, cleaning, tidy up the new library, etc.) in the institution. Children come from challenging backgrounds, having either never attended school or only experienced online learning, making it difficult for them to adapt and remain in school. An art and craft, a hip-hop dance afternoon club, sport opportunities are just some of the possible classes that would improve their knowledge and spirit.

Egyesek Youth Association organizes this volunteer program together with the Masoret Avot Nursery and Primary School and the Українська асоціація "Єдність" (UA Unity Association). The main goal of the project since May 2022 is to create an educational and community centre for Ukrainian kids and families in Budapest. The jewish school cooperating closely with the EcoSpace is a safe place now for 250 children aged 6 to 18. They can find support, friends, learn and develop thanks to our devoted team of teachers who themselves had to flee from the war.

Not only will you create unforgettable memories at the camp, but you’ll also have the chance to explore Hungary’s stunning capital in your free time! The evenings and the second weekend will be free, so you can wander the streets of Budapest, admire its historical buildings, immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant cultural life, or even try the famous Hungarian cuisine. As part of an international team, you’ll not only make the children’s summer memorable but your own as well!

The project is co-funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps program. There is no participation fee. All volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms in Budapest in a dormitory or hostel. Lunch will be provided in the institution (vegan and vegetarian may not available), breakfast and dinner is self-organized, but covered by the project cost. Each volunteer will also receive €7 per day as pocket money. Travel costs to the project location will be reimbursed based on the distance after participation. All necessary equipment for the tasks will be provided.

Volunteers will help on several aspects of the event logistics: - assembly of sports fields and/or facilities for the 2025 National Games; - dismantling of sports fields and/or installations for the 2025 National Games. - building and putting up the decorations, transport and unloading of material, waste management. Volunteers will work with several teams of the organisation before and after the Games. During the 3 days of competitions, volunteers will provide guidance to athletes for one of the disciplines of the competition: a precision ball sport, related to bowls and "pétanque" called Bocce.

Every year, Special Olympics Belgium organises the National Games. In 2025, the Games will be held in Courtrai. More than 3,000 athletes, accompanied by 1,200 coaches, are taking part in the Games in around twenty sports disciplines. Special Olympics Belgium was founded in 1979 and is officially recognized by the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee. It organises National Games every year (alternatively in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia) and send delegations of Belgian athletes to the Winter and Summer Special Olympics World Games. These competitions are open to any athlete with intellectual disability who regularly practise a sport at his/her own level. More than just a physical and sport training, these activities enhance the social development of the athletes

Work

SEEDS volunteers will take on a variety of activities, depending on weather conditions and the needs of our partners including working in the forestry section and vegetable greenhouses in the EcoVillage, as well as participating in a nationwide project to raise awareness of ocean pollution, plastic waste, and engage the group in hands-on cleanup efforts in the area, allowing volunteers to make a direct impactThe camp is based at Alviora, which offers a range of activities to connect people with nature, such as community gardens, wildlife workshops, school programs, and hikes. As part of the camp, volunteers help maintain the center through tasks like gardening, renovating the house and other projects such as removing old fences to protect wildlife, marking walking paths, and potentially do forestry work like trimming or planting trees.This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should be prepared to share environmental issues from their home countries and be ready to spend time outdoors. Volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule. Depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities as planned.

Partner

PROJECT: This camp is part of SEEDS ongoing efforts to raise awareness, promote engagement in environmental issues and to support sustainability, organic and permaculture farming, social inclusion, education and hands-on actions in the field. Volunteers will gain insights into local and global challenges through non-formal educational activities such as hands-on work, visits, discussions, and workshops. SEEDS volunteers have the opportunity to participate in different projects in collaboration with Landvernd (the Icelandic Environmental Organization), the EcoVillage at Solheimar, the Icelandic Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, Umhverfisstofnun (the Icelandic Environmental Agency) and Blai Herinn (the Blue Army).

Location

LOCATION: The accommodation is located an hour drive south-east from Reykjavik. The house serves as an environmental-educational centre and sits under Ingolfsfjall, The Mountain of Ingolfur, with a view of Eyjafjallajokull where the volcanic eruptions began in March and April 2010. The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found throughout the area, which is a popular attraction among both foreign and local visitors. The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away, with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafes and bars.

Accomodation

ACCOMMODATION: SEEDS volunteers stay in an old farm which has been transformed into an environmental education centre. The facilities are basic with an equipped kitchen, dining and living room, bathroom, shower and a washing machine. Volunteers sleep in shared rooms, with up to 6 people per room. Please bring your own sleeping bag and towel.Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

LANGUAGE: English will be the language in the camp; intermediate conversational skills are needed.

Meeting time is at 16:00 (4:00 pm) on May 26 at the SEEDS Office in Reykjavik.

Notes:

Participation fee EUR 350 (Euros). The fee can either be transferred in advance via bank transfer, or paid in cash on arrival. It includes accommodation, food and one trip to the Hot River area in Reykjadalur. The fee does not include the transportation from Reykjavik to the camp and back, which costs EUR 30 one way or EUR 60 for both ways.

Work

During this camp, participants can share their love for (and learn more about) global and amp; local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management, animal protection and sustainability, and you also love taking photographs, making videos or want to develop your photography skills, then this project is for youWhile developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers and amp; travellersYou will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits. Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a geothermal power plant, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an outdoor Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, as well as availability or restrictions of our partner organisations.You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.

SEEDS programme combines learning, sharing, hands-on activities, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, exploring the city and its attractions, as stunning natural attractions in possible excursions. Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances during activities and sightseeing. Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.

ReykjavEk is a dynamic, modern city which lives in harmony with nature, using renewable energy sources. The worlds northernmost capital bridges the Atlantic, between Europe and North America. ReykjavEk is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic. It is an international city with a lively cosmopolitan cultural scene surrounded by beautiful nature.One of the two options below is also included in this camp as a hands-on volunteering activity day:1. A day trip to the Hot River area, combined with a cleanup or work with an environmental project in the area, or2. A day trip to the Reykjanes peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.Some excursions (e.g. to the Golden Circle and/or South Shore) can be arranged at discount fares if there is free time after the camp workshops/sessions.
