Oro de Prioro is an English-teaching workcamp designed to provide local children and teenagers with a fun and engaging language-learning experience outside the traditional classroom setting. Volunteers will play an active role in co-creating and leading workshops in English for a group of approximately 30 local participants. Together, volunteers will design games, activities, and interactive sessions that encourage children to use and practice English in a natural, playful environment. The goal is to create a space where language learning happens organically—through creativity, play, and meaningful interaction. This workcamp is not just about language; it's about cross-cultural exchange and building connections. Through workshops, sports, games, outdoor activities, group discussions, and excursions, volunteers will help foster a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere where kids can explore both the English language and other cultures. While Spanish language skills are a plus, they are not required—enthusiasm, creativity, and a willingness to connect are what truly matter. Volunteers will work approximately 6 hours per day, Monday to Friday. In the mornings (around 09:00–13:00), they will spend time directly with the children, facilitating activities. In the afternoons, the team will come together to plan and prepare the next day's sessions collaboratively.an English teaching workcamp. The weekends will be free.

Taking care of the school: Improvements, renovations and maintenance of the school premises. Also some demolitions!
"L’Enfance de l'Art", founded in 1997, is an association which aims to help parents in their education role. The organisation aims to gather people willing to bring to their children a creative learning environment where they can find the joy in learning and experience the richness of childhood rather than early specialisation or academic hot-housing. Parents and professionals work together in the structures created by the organisation: leisure workshops, nurseries, schools, kindergarten. To do so, the association follows the principles of Steiner-Waldorf pedagogy. Altogether, those activities gather a total of 155 children. The nursery, the kindergarten and the primary school, which are all recognized by the authorities, are located in a former boarding school which was abandoned in 2004. The aim of this project is both to improve the quality of the residents' stay in the centre and to encourage exchanges between volunteers and residents, but also between residents. The residents are not a homogeneous group: they have different ages, nationalities, religions, lifestyles and life stories; there are sometimes major cultural differences between them. The volunteers will contribute to improving the quality of the residents' stay, on the one hand, by participating in manual work, maintenance, painting, tidying up and gardening which will improve the living environment and, on the other hand, by proposing and participating in activities with the residents (sports, crafts, games, theme evenings, culinary activities, etc.), particularly with the children. As the project takes place during the school holidays, the children will indeed be present at the centre.
The Fedasil reception centre for asylum-seekers of Sugny hosts people who have applied for asylum in Belgium. They have fled situations of war, persecution, discrimination or environmental disasters and hope, with this application, to get a refugee status that will allow them to reside legally in the country. Before being able to settle in Belgium and build their future there, they must therefore wait for their refugee status to be proven and granted through a long administrative process. During this time, they are hosted in this centre. Always waiting, the residents of the centre live in uncertainty about the future and are sometimes subject to significant stress. Individual situations are multiple and complex, but never easy. Life at the Fedasil centre of Rixensart reflects these individual dramas and the hopes of the residents. More information: https://www.facebook.com/FedasilSugny/?locale=fr_FR
The Fedasil centre of Sugny is located in the Ardennes region, in the south of Belgium, close to the French border. The centre is very isolated; the region is sparsely populated and the nearest villages are 2 and 5 km away. It is surrounded by fields and woods; this site will therefore appeal to nature lovers. In addition, the centre has several sports fields and volunteers will have more than enough opportunities to enjoy leisure time and meetings with the residents. On the first evening, a drink or a dance evening will be organised, in order to welcome the volunteers and get to know the residents. During the weekend, depending on what you decide, it will be possible to organise cultural visits and travel to the largest Belgian cities.
The volunteers will be accommodated at the centre, in a common room or in rooms of 4, with all amenities (showers, toilets, etc.). They will share the same living conditions as the residents, which are very basic. They will cook their own meals at set times.
Camp language is english, but some notions of French will be useful. And also you can find here a lot of people from all over the world, you can discover numerous other languages! Facial expression, sign language and emotional interjections may help you in any situation! Feel free! We warn the volunteers that the consumption of alcohol is strictly forbidden inside the centre. It is necessary be able to listen to others. This kind of workcamp is a very rich personal and human experience. It makes people aware of the complexity of certain social conditions related to the great inequalities on our planet. In order to demonstrate this, we ask the candidate volunteers: - to answer our specific questionnaire (if you do not have it yet, please ask it to your sending organization) - to send us a criminal record related to work with children

Bring nature back to an old gravel mine! You will support the transformation of an abandoned gravel pit into an ecologically valuable habitat and thus give back to nature what humans have taken from it. The Nellschütz gravel company is creating a habitat with a pond, deadwood, rocks and steep slopes on an area of 4 hectares, providing a new habitat for amphibians, insects and various plants. All these tasks are done in close cooperation with the local authorities for nature protection. The site will also be used for environmental education work with children and young people in the future. Specific tasks will include the construction of a circular path and a green classroom, the creation of a pond, deadwood areas, etc. You will be digging, straightening, planting, sawing and nailing. There will be a wide variety of work with different levels of difficulty. If necessary, workers from the gravel company will support you with heavy machines. A landscape gardener will provide professional guidance.
With your commitment, you will make an important contribution to the biodiversity and the transformation of former industrial brownfield sites. There are many places in the area south-west of Leipzig where gravel is extracted. This is done in open-cast mining. As soon as a site is exhausted, large desolate-looking holes are left in the landscape. In cooperation with the local nature conservation authorities and the Nellschütz gravel company, we will support the revitalisation of such a gravel pit with this volunteering project. Many people in the region are looking forward to this renaturation and to you. They will support you at work, in your free time, with food etc. and they are looking forward to meeting you. The site will also be used for environmental education by school classes and kindergartens, so a circular route through the site and an outdoor classroom will be build.
Nellschütz is located in the south-west of Leipzig. The nearest larger town is Weißenfels, the meeting point on arrival. Weißenfels is worth a visit, there is a historic old town with various baroque-style buildings, a castle, but also nice shops, bars and cafés... but also many lost places due to the structural change in the region. We will try to offer various excursions. Due to the poor public transport most activities and excursions will be realised with the support of locals. They are already exited in showing you their highlights of the region.
The living conditions will be very basic and sustainable. You will live right next to the gravel pit, about 1km away from the small hamlet of Nellschütz. Specifically, there will be several sleeping tents with camping beds and a pavilion with tables and benches as a common room. Cooking will take place in an improvised outdoor kitchen on an open fire. Instead of a fridge, there will be a dug-out earth cellar. There is a compost toilet and solar showers. Of course there is no wifi. You can also use the showers in the public swimming pool from time to time or swim in the lake. Please bring your sleeping bag. Your group of volunteers will be responsible for grocery shopping and cooking together. The food will be bought with the camp budget and everybody will take turns for cooking, washing the dishes and cleaning. In order to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet, we encourage volunteers to reduce meat and try more sustainable dishes.
The project is only suitable for people who are comfortable with living and working in the simplest of conditions and want to try out this way of living for a fortnight without too many comforts.
Meeting point will be at Weißenfels train station. Here you will be picked up by your campleaders. We will arrange several pick-up times in the afternoon and early evening. Please arrange your journey in a way that you arrive between 3 pm and 9 pm in Weißenfels. You can check for connections from anywhere to on: www.bahn.com/en.

Volunteers will share their time between animation of the children living in the center and maintaining the center's outside areas, including its vegetable garden. They may also be asked to do some other little tasks, such as helping to sort clothes donated to the center. Animation: Half of the time, volunteers will propose and plan activities for children aged 3 to 10 who live in the center. Some examples could be: creative and artistic workshops, board games, walking excursions, going to the swimming pool, sports and games, movies, cultural visits, … If they wish, the center would be delighted if they also offer activities to the center's teenagers (12-18 years old). Some of the teenagers are also mothers. It is also possible for the volunteers to offer some activities for adults living in the center, but the children have priority. The volunteers will receive the support of the center’s animation team, who’s used to work with volunteers every summer. Outdoor maintenance and vegetable garden : The other half of the time, volunteers will take care of the center's vegetable garden and help the technical team maintain the center's outdoor areas. The vegetable garden was set up a few years ago and is usually maintained by a few residents and a staff member. It allows residents to benefit from fresh, seasonal vegetables. In summer, the vegetable garden requires constant attention: volunteers will therefore help with its maintenance and harvesting. The center also has a park, a children's playground, a volleyball court, etc. Volunteers will help ensure that these areas remain pleasant for residents to use, among other tasks by pulling out weeds.
The Fedasil reception center for asylum-seekers of Rixensart hosts individuals or families who have requested asylum in Belgium. They hope, with this request, to get refugee status which will allow them to stay legally in the country. These people come, for example, from Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan, Eritrea, etc. and have fled situations of war, persecution, discrimination or environmental disasters. Before they can settle in Belgium and build their future there, their refugee status must be proven and granted through a long administrative process. Rixensart is a small town located 25 km from Brussels and 7 km from Wavre. Rixensart still retains its country charm but you can feel its proximity to Brussels (40 minutes by train, 20 by car). The Fedasil center is located outside the city center, but a few steps from the famous lake of Genval, the cinema, shops, supermarkets, the train station…
Volunteers will sleep in a mixed dormitory with 6 bunk beds, in an annex building. Toilets are located in the same building, but for showers, volunteers will have to go to the main building. Volunteers will have access to the washing machines in the center’s laundry room and can leave their personal belongings (passport, money, etc.) in the safe at reception if they wish. They will have access to Wi-Fi. Volunteers will be cooking their own meals in a small, basic kitchen. So feel free to bring your own recipe ideas, but keep in mind that it should be kept simple. Please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements so that we can do some shopping ahead.
We warn the volunteers that the consumption of alcohol is strictly forbidden inside the centre. The volunteers are required to have basic knowledge of French. Besides, it is necessary to have basic knowledge about group’s animation (songs, music, dance, plays…) and to be able to assume responsibility within a group. Be able to listen to others is very important there. This kind of workcamp is a very rich personal and human experience. It makes people aware of the complexity of certain social conditions related to the great inequalities on our planet. Volunteers For Peace (VFP) is a US non-profit organization founded in 1982, located in Burlington, Vermont. VFP promotes intercultural education, community development, and service learning through international volunteerism. It has organized over 3,000 projects in more than 90 countries and supported over 31,000 volunteers worldwide. VFP provides opportunities for young people to engage in community service while building cultural understanding, gaining global consciousness, and becoming future citizen diplomats and global leaders.

Meals will be provided, and volunteers will share cooking duties. Excursions to town will be scheduled every other day for personal snacks and supplies. Special dietary needs should be communicated to the camp leaders in advance.
Volunteers must be motivated to work at least 30 hours per week. The work can be physically demanding, involving tasks such as digging and carrying materials. The main goal of this camp will be that volunteers make the village move, but also that they learn a lot about local cultures (because it is in plural). Some of the tasks will be: renovation of the mural at the bus station, help to make the local Youth center prettier, cleaning the garbage on boats from the canal, painting the kids' playground, make sports' terrains look more representative, watering the trees maybe even with the firetruck, supporting the organizers of the festival "PactON"...
Pact Ruthenorum is a local organization dedicated to promotion of Rusyn's culture (ethnic Eastern-Slavic minority in South-Slavic Serbia; more on that nobody knows, that is why this project is important, haha). It is founded in 2004. with the mission to connect people all over the region and even all over the world. With that aim, they organized numerous festivals (mostly musical or traditional with the cultural topics) and workcamps. Its main focuses are music, nature and socializing. Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS) was founded in 1976. Our main aims are environmental protection and education, promotion of sustainable development, work with young people in an international context, promotion of scientific creativity and voluntarism and its values. Voluntary Service of Serbia is a volunteer exchange service center founded in 1990 as one of the sectors of YRS.
Ruski Krstur is a village in the Kula municipality in the Sombor department of Vojvodina province. It has 3000 inhabitants approximately and majority of them are Rusyns (less-known Eastern-Slavic minority that we mentioned previously). It lays on the Small Backa canal (very important one for fertile lands all around the village). Free time will be spent in nature, walking and riding bicycles, swimming in the pool, meeting locals (hosts really care about this part). Also, some excursion to the interesting surroundings might be easily organized! Try to bring a positive attitude, meeting people from other cultures of this international village is really important to the host.
Volunteers will be accommodated in the local sports' hall, on the mattresses (bedding will be provided, but if you insist you can bring your own, hehe). The kitchen will be in the near Fire department (many associations cooperate closely in this interesting village). Food will be provided sometimes (with accent on national cuisine) and sometimes it will be made by volunteers. On few occasions there can be even outdoor preparation.
There are no special requirements (except to not forget the smile and good energy), but if you like to make your life easier, bring sunscreen, adequate clothes and mosquito repellent as it gets hot and humid during the summer.
From Belgrade you take the train to Novi Sad and from there you can take the bus to the village. More precise-in its time.

The major aspect of this project will be focusing on community lifestyles. Volunteers and community members will have an opportunity to experience and exchange both work and leisure behavior patterns in various activities, attitudes, interests, opinions, and values. This provides an opportunity to reflect on each involved person’s self-image or self-concept, the way they see themselves and believe they are seen by others. This is expected to be a composite of motivation, needs, and wants influenced by factors such as culture, family, reference groups, and social classes. In realization of the above objective, volunteers will join a series of activities that will include: Community economic life (I do what they do): Participation in the daily activities of community members. This will include working in small businesses, farming, handicrafts, arts, taking care of animals, and other daily economic activities of community members. Social-cultural life: Participation in various social aspects of community life, including traditional medicine and healthcare (learning and experience). Rituals: Visiting ritual sites, learning and understanding. Ceremonies: Participating in weddings, initiation, and other traditional and religious ceremonies available during that time. Language exchange: This will include Kiswahili language (1-2 hours every day) and an optional foreign language teaching class (1 hour per day, preferably English or French). Knowledge exchange: This will include intergenerational exchange—age groups' knowledge and experience-sharing events. Images of my (self, culture, country, etc.) vs. others. Community exhibitions: Sharing various arts, music, food, etc.
It is believed that the world’s population recently passed more than 7 billion people, an incredible number to measure. In Tanzania, Africa, as well as around the world, many people still barely meet anyone outside of a small circle of family, friends, and community, while even more never venture beyond the culture in which they were raised. The Intercultural Exposure Project aims to serve as an important means of introducing people around the world to realities they might not normally be exposed to. Many barriers have begun to fall between people around the world, with near-instantaneous communication allowing people on opposite sides of the world to meaningfully interact. The Intercultural Exposure Project encourages people from all walks of life to appreciate and understand distinct cultures and play a key role in creating productive dialogue across the world. The project will be hosted at Lolarash Lutheran Church.
Nakilongos is an area of Longido District, Arusha, Tanzania, located about 112 km from Moshi town. The community is accessible via public transport starting from Moshi Main Bus Terminal to Tarakea and then changing to Kamwanga via Lolarash. Indigenous inhabitants are the Maasai tribe; however, due to the economic activities happening in the North Kilimanjaro Forest, there is a good mixture of people from various parts of the country. The community shares a border with Kenya as well as the Kilimanjaro Forest. If arriving from Kilimanjaro Airport (about 43 km), volunteers will need to take a shuttle to Moshi town. Possibilities and options for leisure activities include wildlife safari trips to Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Tarangire National Parks. Various packages are available depending on the available time and budget. Other options include mountain climbing (Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, and others) and eco and cultural tourism.
Accommodation will be at a community residential house. It is basic accommodation where volunteers should expect to use water, toilet, and have a bath. Mattresses will be provided in shared rooms. Volunteers are expected to help in meal preparation and cleaning. Vegetarian meals will be available for the entire period of the project.
