Our mission is to create a community where connection, learning, and collaboration are central. We aim to develop De Plek into a hub in our region, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds to work, learn, and grow. We do this by organizing cooking workshops, providing a platform for social interaction, and involving volunteers and people with disabilities who seek meaningful daily activities. By continuing to invest in our project, we hope to expand our impact. We want to organize more activities and further strengthen our role as a place of connection and inspiration. At De Plek, we work together toward a resilient future, where sustainable farming, social engagement, and community building go hand in hand. Location

The archaeological site of Tózar is located next to the population center and within the approved hiking route (PR-A-44), Ruta del Gollizno. It includes, next to the Mozarabic settlement, prehistoric remains of a megalithic burial, silos carved into the rock and trenches of the Civil War. It has in its upper part with a medieval necropolis, also excavated in the rock, and in its lower part with a medieval village organized spatially from the creation of some terraces. Regarding the necropolis, 80 burials have been recognized with certainty, appreciating three different typologies in the way of carving the tomb in the rock: anthropomorphic, bathtub and rectangular. It is evident the prevalence of anthropomorphic tombs over the other forms, conferring a strong characterization and uniqueness to the site, due to the scarce presence of this typology in the Andalusian territory. This Youth Volunteering project has become one of the most relevant, prestigious, solid and in demand by the Andalusian youth due to its proven effectiveness, experience in dealing with young people, development of main activities, as well as the varied offer of complementary activities, leisure and free time, of great interest and attraction for the volunteer participants. Socio-cultural activities: -Interpretation of the landscape: Routes of the Gollizno and the Atalayas. -Participation in the activities of the Cultural Summer organized by the City Council of Moclín. - Visit to the Alhambra, Generalife and Albaicín. Recreational activities: - Sports activities in municipal facilities (paddle tennis, indoor soccer, tennis, etc.). - Vía Ferrata. - Gymkhanas. - Group games. - Walks through the villages of Moclín.

In the area of Benediktus it is also possible to play sports. Study part: As part of the pilgrimage, there will be a meeting with the general public and the volunteers will have the opportunity to present their culture, either in the form of theatre, fun games for children or making typical food. Other Czech and foreign volunteers also take part in the pilgrimage, with whom there will be an opportunity not only to work but also to spend free time together. During the project, volunteers have a unique opportunity to learn about the life and work of people with and without disabilities in the L'Arche community.

Work

This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor cleanup tasks. These cleanup tasks may be arranged in partnership with the above mentioned organisations or run solely by SEEDS. We also aim to involve the local community, so some of our events may be open to the public. We hope participants will learn how to plan and carry out their own trash cleaning projects back at home. This project is based on similar activities around the world, where outstanding results have been achieved with volunteers. Volunteers can choose one of the two options below, included as hands-on volunteering activity in the camp:1. A day trip combining a visit to the Hellisheioi geothermal power plant, a trash collection in the area, and the Hot River Hike, a hike up a valley filled with hot springs where one can bathe. 2. A day trip to the Reykjanes Peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area. Please note that all activities are subject to weather conditions and the availability of our partners. This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walking medium to long distances during the cleanups, and during other activities such as sightseeing. Since a part of the project happens outdoors, volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule. Depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities as planned.

Partner

The Environmental Awareness and Action project is part of a series of camps organised by SEEDS in cooperation with different partners. SEEDS collaborates with the Icelandic Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, the City of Reykjavik, and several local stakeholders on a project to clean up the Icelandic coastline. Partners include the Blue Army, an organisation dedicated to the cause of coastal cleaning, SORPA, the waste collection and management entity in the capital area, and Whales of Iceland, an exhibit showcasing life-size models of whales and porpoises to educate the public about their lives and the impact of human activity on their existence.

Kids summer camp in Bódvalenke

Code:EGY-IVS-25-01

Where:Bódvalenke

Number of volunteers:8

Language:English

Extra-Fee:0

Age:18-50

20/07/2025 - 26/07/2025

Work

Join an international team of volunteers and help organize a summer camp for children aged 3 to 18! As a volunteer, you can teach English, lead games and sports activities, while giving so much more: bringing joy, building trust, and boosting their self-confidence. The children will attend the activities in age-based groups every day from Monday to Friday. Join the dedicated team of the foundation and bring joy and learning into the lives of local children together!

Partner

Since 2016, the Juszt-is teszünk! Foundation has been active in Bódvalenke. That was the year when the project began that earned the village the nickname "Fresco Village", as Roma painters transformed the walls of the houses into beautiful works of art. Bódvalenke is mostly inhabited by Roma people, whose only employment opportunity is public works. Over the years, several projects have been launched to support the disadvantaged local community. There are nearly 100 children living in Bódvalenke, making up half of the village’s population.

Location

Bódvalenke is a small village with approximately 230 residents, located in northern Hungary, in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County, near the Slovakian border, within the Edelény district. It is close to Miskolc and surrounded by picturesque natural landscapes. This experience is not only about volunteering but also about connecting with the community, learning about Roma culture, and enjoying meaningful moments with fellow volunteers.

Accomodation

Accommodation will be provided at the foundation's house, where you can either camp in a tent or sleep in the community space. The house has two separate restrooms with showers. Activities with the children take place outdoors in the yard, so if you need a short break and the group size allows it, you can rest in the sleeping area. We will provide three meals a day (hot meals for lunch and dinner), with a vegetarian option available. Meals are always shared. Breakfast consists of cold food (e.g., sandwiches, boiled eggs, etc.), while lunch and dinner will be prepared together the night before. The weekly menu will be planned together during the preparatory meeting.

Requirements

There are no language requirements, but English will be the working language during the program. Please bring comfortable clothes that can get dirty while playing, a sleeping bag, and any personal medications you may need. We kindly ask you to send us a motivation letter, focusing on why you decided to work with children and what related skills or previous experiences you have in this field.

Meeting point

Meeting point: We will be waiting for you on July 20th at 10:00 AM at Deák Square, at the airport bus stop (100E and 200E). If this time is too early for you, the foundation’s staff can provide accommodation for volunteers the night before. The transportation between Budapest and Bódvalenke will be arranged by the foundation, either by car or train. The journey takes at least 3 hours by car.

Notes:

Two weeks before the camp starts, we will hold an online preparatory meeting on a Monday evening to finalize the weekly program, ensuring we have all necessary materials. After the camp, there will also be an online reflection session where we will discuss our experiences. It would be great if you could join these as well!
