: Being part of our volunteer and stewarding team is an amazing opportunity to carry out some meaningful volunteering whilst also having the opportunity to enjoy all Elderflower Fields has to offer (for no cost!). You will be part of the amazing community which comes together to make the festival happen, many of whom come back year after year and will be on hand to show you the ropes. It is a hugely rewarding experience in which you will have an amazing time and make great friends. Volunteers will be part of the field team – the eyes and ears of the festival. Volunteering in pairs, you will look after a specific area of the event and act as a contact point for the guests. Therefore, it is important that you have a good level of listening and speaking English! You may be answering questions, offering directions and helping people find their way around the site. After initial training and learning you will be able to identify if anything needs rectifying. You will be in contact with Event Control , reporting any incidents and feeding information to the public. This is a fantastic volunteering opportunity for anyone interested in getting into event management with real on-the-ground responsibility at a large arts event. As you will arrive a few days before the festival begins there will be several tasks to get the site ‘festival ready’ and after the festival there will be jobs to revert the site back to its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Elderflower Fields was born in 2012 out of a desire to create a new festival designed especially for families and kids. The festival sold over a thousand tickets and everyone loved it, the sun was shining, kids played and people danced. The festival was so popular that it happened again in 2013 and then a new bigger venue in 2014. Pippingford Park is set in an Area of Outstanding natural beauty. The host intentionally keeps Elderflower Fields small – this is part of what makes it such a safe and special festival. Designed especially for those with young children as an opportunity for little festival first timers to dip their toes into a magical world of music, fun and nature. Families return year after year for a weekend filled with new experiences, exploration and celebration. Elderflower Fields is an independent festival, created by So Sussex and put together by a small but hardworking time to create a magical experience for their audience. The rest of the festival is made up of friends, family and amazing volunteers – hopefully including you!

Volunteers will be camping at the site, in the ‘crew paddock’ area which is used by all festival crew. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IT CAN BE VERY COLD IN THE EVENINGS/NIGHT IN THE UK IN MAY, PLEASE PACK ACCORDINGLY AND BRING LOTS OF WARM CLOTHES AND LAYERS. Elderflower fields will provide the tents for volunteers, volunteers will have access to hot showers/hot water for the duration of the volunteering project. The Crew HQ is a sheltered area where volunteers are able to charge devices, rest and relax when not volunteering. There is a microwave and hot water urn at the Crew HQ, volunteers can bring any snacks/additional food they wish to consume during the festival – please be aware there is no oven and minimal fridge space, so non-perishable foods are advisable if you wish to bring anything additional. Volunteers will be provided with three meals a day. Cereal, Tea and Coffee will be provided at the Crew HQ for breakfast. Volunteers will receive a £10 ‘voucher’ for both Lunch and Dinner which can be utilised at any of the available food vendors. Please take note that £10 is enough to get you a substantial meal, however there are some items which will cost more than £10, if you wish to pay the difference you can. On days where there is no festival, volunteers will be provided with a lunchtime sandwich and evening meal. The host is looking for people who like working hard, having fun, and being part of a community to get involved. At Green & Away the host lives in a comfortable outdoor venue as a community of up to 30 volunteers working together to look after the temporary summer home, taking turns to cook meals, and keeping the site running alongside hosting events. The type of activities you will be involved in depends on which phase of Green and Away you join (there are three) and this may involve putting up large marquees, housekeeping of tents or catering large events (there will be more volunteering, these are just examples. This is an ongoing project with several starting dates. In your application, make sure to add which date you would like to start your 2 weeks project. You can apply for several 2-week periods in the same application You will be supported and encouraged to be involved in whatever you feel most comfortable doing, and the host always supports and appreciates new ideas and feedback – Green & Away is a place to share and learn new skills. The host warmly welcomes and encourages individuals of all backgrounds, ethnicities, races, genders, abilities, ages, religions, and orientations to join the Green & Away project. Setup Phase: Each year we build the venue from scratch. The tasks during setup are hard but very rewarding work as you will arrive at an empty field and have the satisfaction of watching and helping the tented village circle take form each day! Basic facilities such as kitchen, showers and toilets will be ready when you arrive. Setup takes two weeks where we erect large tents such as the kitchen and bar marquee, set up and furnish the smaller accommodation tents for paying guests and put in place essential things like plumbing and electrics., and erect the cafe, sitting room yurt, and main marquee tent amongst others. Once the structures are built, they are furnished with seating, equipment, decorations and many flowers and bunting as a finishing touch. Setup is a time of team spirit, learning diverse new skills from how the pulley system on a canvas marquee works, how to build a traditional yurt, how to do an alpine butterfly knot, install our infrastructure such as plumbing or solar powered electrics, and looking great in steel cap boots!
Green & Away is a registered educational charity, who organise, build and run a unique, tented sustainable venue – a temporary outdoor eco-village, situated on the banks of the River Teme, in lush Countryside overlooked by the Malvern Hulls in the West of England. Every summer since 1990, many volunteers from all different walks of life and all over the world have come together to create a beautiful space for events, connection to the outdoors, community and learning – and we are very excited to welcome you!
The site is situated close to a small village which has some small activities going on, the site is roughly 5-6 miles from Worcester with a direct bus. Volunteers can travel quite freely to a big city. More immediately the site is located to a café with walking trails and a river for swimming bordering the site. The nearest hospital is 9 miles away. You will get 2 days off of volunteering, days off are not the same each week, but rest will be assured to all volunteers. The work at Green & Away is what brings us together, but there is also plenty of time for evening activities, revelling in music and laughter in our bar, swimming, playing games and enjoying an evening round the campfire. There is also opportunity for day trips to visit the local area, cultural visits or special days out like canoeing on your days off. You are also invited to engage with our Education Wednesdays, where we spend an afternoon together learning from one another in a variety of ways through talks, workshops and discussions. If you have a skill or knowledge on a topic you would like to share with the group let us know!
The host is an outdoor venue and campsite so all accommodation is tented – this is for all volunteers as well as guests will be in tents. Green & Away will provide you with a space in a tent with a camp bed, sleeping bag, pillow and blanket – IT IS STILL COLD AT NIGHT DURING UK SUMMERTIME, PLEASE ENSURE YOU BRING ENOUGH WARM CLOTHES. All food is provided (3 meals a day, regular tea breaks, with cake!). Meals are vegetarian/vegan, organic, fresh and local when possible. IF you do have any specific dietary requirements, please let the host know in advance. The site has an outdoor biomass-powered, wood cladded shower cubicles, composting toilets, drinking water taps, clothes washing facilities and a washing line. The host provides eco-friendly toiletries. All safety and volunteering equipment is provided by Green and Away.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND HOW TO APPLY The host may reach out to you to establish levels of English, you will receive an email if successful. A conversational level of B2 is necessary to understand safety instructions. ACCESSIBILITY Volunteers need to have a good level of physical fitness and be confident walking on uneven ground outside.

For Green and Away it is really important the volunteer understands what we are about (environmental charity, not a music festival! etc.) and the circumstances of the facilities (outdoor showers, camping). The “Crack” International Comics Festival is organized every year by Forte Prenestino Social Center, in Rome. Crack festival will involve editors and artists coming mainly from European and Mediterranean countries: 4 days of exhibitions, workshops and cultural exchange will involve hundreds of youngsters and experts. By joining this workcamp you will contribute to the Sustainable Development Goal: SustainableCommunities-SDG11
During the festival, the place will host hundreds of artists and thousands of spectators, so the international volunteers will be asked to join the local volunteers to manage the entire organization of the event. An average of 6 to 7 hours per day is required, with possible activities organized on the event nights. The volunteers' work is going to involve : the logistic set up, the pub & restaurant tending, the cleanup and other activities proposed by the organizers. After the event, the volunteers will help taking down the structures and cleaning the fortress. The work can be physically hard (and it will be very hot), but the environment will be funny and easy going. The motto is to “Share, Work and Have Fun”. In a few words, get ready to be active and to give your energy to the community working at the Forte Prenestino.
The workcamp is organize by Forte Prenestino Social Center, in Rome. Forte Prenestino is one of the most important alternative cultural and social project in Italy. It was squatted more than 30 years ago, and now is the promoter of many cultural underground events, hosting an alternative community of artists, activists and social workers. The center has become a place of cultural production, autonomously managed and economically independent. The main goal of their work is to bring together understanding and action; social rights and voluntary activities; the local and the global. They promote not-for-profit projects, which could be useful for the local communities, fight racism and increase intercultural exchanges.
The Camp takes place in Rome. Forte Prenestino Social Center is located in one of these fortresses around the city, in a big working-class neighborhood called Centocelle.
The volunteers are going to sleep in a dormitory, yet they will have to bring a sleeping bag. During the festival, they can possibly be asked to sleep a few nights in tents. Please, take good note that the accommodation is really basic. Hand in hand with your team-mates, you will have to clean and to prepare the dorm at your arrival. Consequently, we want you to be aware that the comfort on the camp will be simply basic. The toilets will be collective and they are not what we could call de luxe. As for the showers, they will probably in outside (open air showers), so don't forget your swimsuit/swimming trunks. Regarding the meals, the volunteers are going to use the kitchen for breakfasts and will have meals at the restaurant: they will be asked to help the cookers

During this workcamp, you take part in an important step of the village developement, the construction of a new Yurt, and the Vir’volt Festival ! For the third year, the village is organizing a festival ! You will have the opportunity to make it possible ! By building wooden furnitures, ecological decoration, but also realilzing workshops, the Vir’Volt festival will be the one you will make ! You will also take part in the construction of a new scene in wood, in order to host theater and music bands.
Vir'Volt stands for InteRnational VolunTeer Village (in French). For 3 years, the organisation has been based in the heart of nature, in the middle of a regional park. By welcoming young people from all over the world each year, the future village is being built around a number of different objectives: getting to know each other and learning from our differences, reflecting and acting together to protect the environment, but also having a positive impact on the surrounding area and people by putting solidarity at the heart of each of our actions. Vir'Volt also aims to become fully eco friendly and sustainable which is reflected in our campsite ; yurts and teepees as rooms, permaculture farming and gardening, water saving projects, reducing and reusing waste. This small village will become great without sacrificing or damaging the surrounding environment whilst always searching better and more eco friendly ways of living.
La Ferté-Alais (91590) is approximately 50km south of Paris. Leisure activities: You will have the chance to enjoy the association's campsite and to discover the cultural and natural heritage of the region which is part of a natural park. You will also help organise some activities in order to meet and socialize with local young people. Other leisure activities will be organised collectively depending on the wishes of the group and the available budget. On day in Paris is scheduled.
You will sleep in collective Yurts, non-mixed on the campsite of the association. Please bring a sleeping bag with you. The campsite has separate bathrooms and showers, as well as a kitchen place. Food will be provided and cooked by the volunteers in turns.
You can arrive at La Ferté-Alais RER station by taking line D of the RER (suburban train) in Paris Gare de Lyon or Gare du Nord.
This project should not be seen as a sightseeing trip to Paris. If you wish to visit Paris, you should do so before arriving or after the dates of the summer camp.

You will help the organisers in all phases of the festival. On the first days, the main tasks will be setting up the stage and the campground on the site of the festival. You will also help to create the always charming and handmade decorations of the festival site and help with the disassembly of the whole structure and surroundings on the last day. While the festival is running, you should be available to the organisation and will be asked to assist in different areas: bar, stage, organisation, catering etc. You will work closely with the local people from the association! There is a plan for the build-up of the festival, nevertheless the schedule will be adapted to the always changing logistics of the event and you are expected to be flexible, patient and work autonomously within this plan. Volunteers should be prepared to work long and unusual hours, but also have some time between their shifts, which can be used to explore the festival and enjoy the music! Speaking or understanding basic German will be a plus!
The local association Waldstock e.V. (https://waldstock.de/) promotes local youth activities in the small town of Pegnitz. Its members are very motivated and involved in organizing projects like concerts, film festivals or soccer cups. For more than 20 years, they have been coordinating the “Waldstock” festival, a so called “Umsonst und Draussen” - festival (“outside & free of charge”), which has become an important part of the cultural life in the town of Pegnitz and the region. Since 2013 the festival is supported by a small group of international Workcamp volunteers, who can enjoy the truly unique experience of becoming a part of the busy festival team. Pegnitz is a small town in Franconia, Bavaria, near Nuremberg. You can find medieval and historic buildings and churches in the centre of the city. The city is known for its beers: it has a long tradition in brewery and the locals are very proud of it. The Bavarian region, in which Pegnitz is located, is called “Little Switzerland” due to its beautiful surrounding that invites extended adventures and hiking trips in the region. There are all kinds of trails and possibilities to experience the unique nature.
You will stay at the local brewery! It is a small and very basic accommodation not far from the festival site that does not provide much comfort, but a very unique charm. You will all sleep in a big room at the brewery, usually used for concerts, and sleep on camp beds. Bear in mind that there will usually be a lot of people walking around and making noise from early in the morning to have everything ready for the festival! The final ceremony afterwards for all the helpers of the festival will also take place there. During the festival food will be provided by the food stands throughout the day.

Needless to say, in order for the Festival to be a life-enhancing and indeed for some a life-transforming experience, much hard work is required. From the day we arrive in an empty field with a small vanguard, our numbers gradually swell until we have around eight hundred volunteers welcoming the three thousand visitors. The set-up crew erect the structures that will act as kitchens and venues. They establish the infrastructure such as plumbing, compost toilets, showers and saunas. They make the site beautiful and safe with flags, bunting, paths, fences and lighting. Then during the Festival we have stewards to welcome and guide festival goers, to manage parking and traffic and to attend to people's well-being. Toilet wizards maintain the compost toilets. A team of recyclers sorts materials so as to minimize landfill. The kitchen crew feed volunteers and festival goers alike. The site crew look after the infrastructure, tents, water etc. During the set-up phase, volunteers will get one day off and during the festival two days either as full days or half days, depending on the needs of the particular teams. VAP volunteers will be invited to work in one of a number of areas before and during the festival, for example: the Healing area, the Buddhafield cafe, site crew, recycling and ‘toilet wizards’, décor, welcome and departure teams. During the Festival the volunteers will have work shifts, but will also have time to enjoy the huge variety of events taking place and facilities available as outlined above. Volunteers are asked to attend daily morning meetings, the exact time depending on what area of work they choose to join. The work is very team-based. The whole enterprise runs on goodwill, awareness of each others’ needs, good communication and mutual support. During set-up and take-down there will be organised events around Buddhist themes, attendance at which is completely voluntary. There are generally also alternatives such as spontaneous musical gatherings, often around a fire. They will also have someone on site who is their direct contact for support and pastoral care. They will meet as a group together each day.
BACKGROUND: Buddhafield (www.buddhafield.com) is an English Buddhist collective that is part of the international Buddhist movement, the Triratna Buddhist Community (http://thebuddhistcentre.com). Buddhafield emerged out of the coming together of Buddhism and ecological awareness in the 1990s. Buddhafield is inspired by the ideal of living and working more simply and kindly in a community informed by awareness of our interconnections with each other and with nature. We run a programme of camping activities in the South West of England and own two beautiful pieces of land, which we are committed to managing sustainably and which we use for several events each year (not the Festival itself). We are perhaps best known for organising the much-loved Buddhafield Festival, now in its 22nd year, and for the Buddhafield Café, which provides vegan food at festivals like the Glastonbury Festival. ============= THE FESTIVAL: The Buddhafield Festival is held over five days, on a beautiful site in the Blackdown Hills, in Somerset, England. The event brings together around three thousand people for a sharing and celebration of alternative social, cultural, political and spiritual values. The mix of activities around Buddhist, environmental, healing and social change themes together with general festival attractions such as singing, dance, yoga, drumming, live music, comedy, craftwork, chai cafes, saunas, hot tubs and a huge range of activities for children, attracts a wide range of festival goers. The feedback we get is that for many the event is a reminder that a more positive and kind alternative to conventional competitive and environmentally damaging ways of living is possible. In keeping with the Festival's Buddhist ethos the event is a drug and alcohol-free zone.

A member of the Buddhafield team will meet people at the Taunton train station and help them get to the site. If you want to travel with a team member it is important that you arrive at Taunton train station not later than 16:45 on July 9th, where we will meet you at the upper exit by platform 2! ========= Train: The nearest station is Taunton. Journeys take about 2 hours from London or Birmingham, 1 hour from Bristol and 30 minutes from Exeter. ========= Coach (Bus): Taunton is about 4 hours from London and 1 hour from Bristol. If you come by coach you will need to allow 15 minutes to walk to the train station exit by platform 2. ========= Local transport: Once in Taunton, there are two buses per day which can drop you within 10 minutes walk of the Festival site. Volunteers should bring their own tents, sleeping bag, sleeping mat and everything you would need for a camping trip. Weather can be range from very hot in the sun to very cold at night, so please bring plenty of blankets as well as sun cream, warm-weather clothes and proper waterproof jackets and trousers. Showers and toilet facilities are outdoors and though cleaner and better cared for than other festivals, they are outdoors and basic. Buddhafield will provide 100% vegan food and hot drinks and snacks are available throughout the day. If you need animal products, you will have to bring with you a supply of food that does not need refrigeration.

Most of the time you will work at the Jewish cemetery and in the Shakhs synagogue where you will help with the maintenance of outdoor areas (cleaning pavements, weeding, cutting and raking grass, maintaining graveyards, etc.) You will also help with the preparation of the Jewish Culture Festival which takes place in Holesov during the workcamp. Please, bring suitable shoes and working clothes. You will also work on the weekend (because of the festival) but you will get enough time off on other days.
The workcamp is organised in cooperation with Municipal Cultural Center Holesov, a non-profit organization that manages most of the Jewish monuments in the city and organizes the Festival of Jewish Culture. It takes place in Holesov, a small Moravian town, known for its large pre-war Jewish community. This community was almost exterminated during World War II and there are very few members left today. There is an important Jewish heritage in Holesov – an old synagogue and also a grave of one of the greatest Jewish scholars - Rabbi Shakh. The goal of this workcamp is to maintain the Jewish cemetery, help with the organization of the festival and learn about Jewish heritage. At this workcamp, you will actively contribute to the achievement of UN SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.
The project takes place in Holesov (12,000 inhabitants), a historical town located in the south-east of the Czech Republic. It is well known for its important Jewish heritage such as a rare synagogue from the 16th century or Holesov cemetery - an important place of pilgrimage for Jews. There is good phone coverage everywhere around the town, ATMs and pharmacies. In the free time volunteers can go on a trip to the UNESCO site of Kromeriz, visit the pilgrimage hill of Hostyn or the open-air museum of folk architecture in Rymice. You will also have free entry to all cultural activities organized by the Cultural Center.
Volunteers will be accommodated in a house near the place of work, sleeping on matrasses. Please, bring a sleeping bag. There are 2 toilets, and showers are part of the castle complex approximately 500 meters from the accommodation. WIFI is not available in the building - only at the synagogue and the castle. Volunteers will cook meals together as a group.
Volunteers interested in the Jewish or Moravian culture are especially welcome and we happily learn something about their cultural background. Please beware that the work will take place outdoors and suitable clothes and shoes are needed. We recommend a hat to protect from the sun and a raincoat in case of light rain. Please bring a sleeping bag.

You will learn a lot about Jewish culture and its heritage through visiting local monuments and experiencing the Jewish Culture Festival (concerts, performances, films etc.). You will also have a chance to meet the local community during a barbecue or at a traditional lunch with the representatives of the town.

Your support is needed to improve facilities of the community: The estate is to become a place where people can discuss, learn and spend time together all year round. Up to now, the art, culture and political education events have mainly taken place in summer and outside - also because there is not yet a heatable roofed room for them. Together with the work camp, a room in a former stable building is to be renovated so that meetings and events are also possible in the colder months. Secondly, we would like the group to help in the build up of the actual highlight: From July 26 to July 28 there will be an international festival. We will offer a number of workshops on the topics of promoting democracy, combating anti-Semitism and racism. The festival will address current issues in the region relating to anti-democratic structures, as well as the current situation in Israel and Gaza. It is all about exchange and networking.The study part is about the history of the estate, a history of Jewish self-organisation under the pressure of National Socialist persecution. How can culture of remembrance function in rural areas? What is the significance of remembering the past at all for our societies today? What are the challenges? Theoretical aspects of democracy and the possibilities of developing a place for meeting and learning in orphaned rural areas are the focus. If desired, excursions to other sites can also be organised.
In the project "Gutshof Neuendorf im Sande", the history of the site is documented and made accessible to the public. In the 1930s, the estate was a hachshara site, an agricultural training estate where the increasingly persecuted Jews were to be enabled to leave Nazi Germany through agricultural training. From 1941, the estate became a forced labour camp, and in April 1943 the last Jewish residents were deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp, where many were killed. In GDR times, the farm was a state-owned property. The project offers workshops on history and political topics, organises concerts, readings, film evenings and theatre performances and wants to become a meeting place for the region. We see the project as a place where a shared vision of a solidary and democratic society without racist exclusion can be developed. In Fürstenwalde there are shopping facilities, a swimming pool, cultural and leisure activities. There is a public bathing area at Lake Trebus about 15 minutes away by bike. From Fürstenwalde train station it takes about 30 minutes by train to the centre of Berlin. Bicycles are provided by the project. The Neuendorf im Sande estate is run by a collective of people from a wide variety of backgrounds who organise cultural, art and educational events or work the estate's land agriculturally. There are often evenings together around the campfire and a lot of desire to meet and exchange with international guests. Visits to other, similar community projects in the region can also be offered.
Accommodation is in tents on the farm and some rooms. The tents are provided by the project. There are indoor and outdoor cooking facilities.
An interest in Jewish history and remembrance work, a willingness to do light manual work indoors and outdoors and a desire to get to know the project and its people are desirable. Motivation letter is needed. You should be able to ride a bike so that the group is mobile in the countryside.

Become part of a festival crew and support the organization of a non-profit, free music festival in Stuttgart! Your international group will work with many other local volunteers. The main tasks will be the setting up of the stage, stalls and tents on the site of the festival, as well as the disassembly at the end. While the festival is running, your group of volunteers will assist in different areas: bar, stage, organisation, catering etc. You will also have time to enjoy the festival yourself! Volunteers should be flexible enough to work long and unusual hours – and enjoy music! Speaking or understanding basic German will be a plus. Your group might be asked to give a short presentation of the Workcamp on stage!
In summer, Stuttgart hosts a variety of music festivals and events. One of those festivals – called “Umsonst & Draussen” (German for "free of charge & outdoors") – will take place in the middle of Vaihingen, an outer city student- district of Stuttgart. The festival will run for three days, from 2nd to 4th of August (www.ud-stuttgart.de). “Umsonst & Draussen” is organized in a participative way, where everyone can come and take part. It is the biggest non-commercial music-politics-culture festival in Stuttgart. It has been running in that unique and quite anarchic way for over 40 years now! Since 2013, the festival has been hosting Workcamps and the international volunteers have become an important part in the festival organisation.
With 600,000 inhabitants, Stuttgart is the state-capital of Baden-Württemberg. From museums, to castles and parks, to an afternoon spent shopping, this city offers something for everyone to see! Within a short train ride, you can also enjoy the variety of nature around Stuttgart. The city is surrounded by beautiful vineyards and hills. You could also visit some of the other interesting towns in the area, like Tübingen (approximately 1 hour away) and Ludwigsburg (approximately 30 minutes away), both accessible by public transportation.
In the first two days, you will be hosted in a cultural centre in Stuttgart, where there is a kitchen and sanitary facilities. You will be sleeping in the building’s hall, where a stage is. We advise sightseeing in the first two days (Monday and Tuesday). On the third day, you will move to the site of the festival. There you will be camping in a big tent, all together. Please bring your own camping mat and sleeping bag. We encourage you to bring your own tent, if possible! Food will be available through the food stands, until the end of the camp, so you will not have to cook for yourselves. Sanitary facilities are given, but be aware of very basic festival standards: You will most likely be able to use the showers in the youth centre nearby (has to be confirmed) otherwise only cold, outdoor showers available and there is limited privacy compared to “regular” accommodations!

As there will be the 19th international Marjamaa Folk Dance Festival and The Days of the Village on 01.-04.08, volunteers are asked to help it out doing various practical jobs related to its organization and running. This will involve a lot of cleaning and manual work. But it is also expected that volunteers contribute to the festival by introducing their national culture, music, dances, also food to local people as well as organizing games and fun activities for local children during the Day of the Youth and Children in the frame of the Festival. Be ready to work for some hours on the weekend
ProjectIt is good tradition for EstYES to organize international workcamps in co-operation with Marjamaa Community. It lies on the half way between Tallinn and Parnu, and it is known for its rich historical and cultural heritage: ancient settlement in Varbola, XIII century church in Marjamaa, numerous German manor houses of XVIII-XIX centuries and active culture life nowadays. Local authorities see in the international camps a powerful tool for local development - not only in terms of work done by volunteers but mainly for introduction multicultural dimension to the population of small local communities in the country. The camp will take place in the village of Marjamaa, the centre of the community. The main idea of this camp is to assist running the 19th international Marjamaa Folk Dance Festival helping different practical tasks. Marjamaa is a village with ca 4000 inhabitants on the half way between Tallinn and Parnu. Distance from Marjamaa to Tallinn is 66 km. Being an administrative centre of community with 7000 inhabitants Marjamaa has several shops, department stores, culture house, cinema, several pubs, etc. Larger city nearby is Rapla (25km), an administrative centre of the county. Leisure timeYou can enjoy all performances of the Festival. During the international Folk Festival volunteers can join diverse activities and parties with the international participants and locals such as Festival Club every evening. Besides, it is possible to do sport at the school stadium, swim in the local swimming pool; also go for some visits to the places of interest in the area.
Volunteers will have simple accommodation in the rooms of the Marjamaa Community House right in the middle of the village, sleeping on mattresses. Please bring a sleeping bag. Toilets and showers are available. Volunteers will have lunches and dinners in the local canteen and breakfast prepared by themselves at the accommodation.
Special requirementsPlease bring sleeping bag and pillow. It will be great if you could think about your contribution to the festival and bring some materials, music, games for kids as well as national food/ drinks for it. If you can present folk songs or dances from your country or teach others it you really should not hesitate to do it English is the camp language.Participation feeDue to the lack of financial support for the project the participation fee of 175 Euro is requested from volunteers to cover the costs of board, leisure activities and administration. This fee has to be paid by bank transfer before the beginning of the camp. If you cannot make bank transfer please contact your sending organization for solution.
