Wuqi District is located in a plain between the Da an River and the Dadu River. It is bordered by Qingshui District to the north, Shalu District to the east, Longjing District to the south, and the Taiwan Strait to the west. Today, the coastline of Wuqi is connected to the Port of Taichung. As a coastal town, the development history of Wuqi is inextricably linked to the prosperity of the port.Wuqi was formerly known as Zhuofa Xie and Wucha Gang . In the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, it was called Ao Xi . In the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1891), it was renamed Wuqi Port, taking the elegant meaning of Phoenix does not rest on a non-Wuchi, does not drink from a non-spiritual spring, and does not eat bamboo .On December 25, 2010, Wuqi Township was upgraded to Wuqi District as part of the merger of Taichung County and City into a special municipality. Although the administrative area is not vast, it still has a deep cultural tourism potential, especially its rich cultural assets, such as local historical relics, historical buildings, and local folk culture, which are all worth seeing. In the past few years of its prosperous years, temples have also become ubiquitous buildings in Wuqi, reflecting the piety of the ancestors to religion and their expectations for life. When the northeast monsoon blows, local eels migrate, and various seafood restaurants can be seen in Wuqi. These restaurants not only satisfy the appetite, but also allow visitors to experience the daily life on this land.Aims:The Taichung Coast has many traditional buildings and is a place where the migration of settlements and folk activities are thriving. The purpose of this event is to understand the importance of maintaining the environmental conditions of the port area, and to learn about the old buildings in the port area of Taichung City, such as the traditional residences in Wuqi Old Street. Participants will learn about traditional architecture and how to reuse it. This event also allows participants to experience the local customs, industry, and life of Taichung Harbor.

This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal educational activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environmental protection by joining outdoor coastal cleanup tasks in the shores and beaches. Additional work will be undertaken in the area of our accommodation such as removing old fences dangerous to wildlife and visitors, as well as helping with renovation and maintenance of the house. We may also be marking some walking paths and, depending on the advance of the mentioned tasks, volunteers might do some forestry tasks in a small forest planted in the area, like trimming the vegetation or planting some trees. This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walking during the cleanups. Volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule, as depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the planned activities.
The Awareness, Engagement and Action project is part of a series of camps organised by SEEDS in cooperation with different partners, where we try to raise awareness about current environmental issues and encourage the volunteers to take action One of our main goals for the next few years is to contribute to a nation-wide project aiming at cleaning up the Icelandic coastline. SEEDS works along and supports the Icelandic ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, the Icelandic Environmental organisation Landvernd, the Environmental Agency of Iceland, Umhverfisstofnun and other partners in order to draw attention to the issues of ocean pollution, plastic waste and to engage volunteers in cleaning up actions around the country.
The accommodation is located 1 hour drive south-east from Reykjavik. The house serves as an environmental-educational centre where visitors can have a look at an extensive stone and stuffed animal collection. The house sits under Ingolfsfjall, The Mountain of Ingolfur, with a view to Eyjafjallajokull where the volcanic eruptions started in March and April 2010. The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found spread around the area, which is a popular attraction among foreign and local visitors. The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafes and bars.
SEEDS volunteers will stay in an old farm which has been transformed into an environmental-education centre. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, shower, and a washing machine. Volunteers will sleep in shared rooms, up to 6 people per room. Please bring your own sleeping bag.Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Remember to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Children and parents will work together when possible (e.g. helping with cooking, collecting wood, harvesting vegetables and gardening). Work will be organized in two groups. The first one will be working in a nature reserve located 3km away from the campsite, their work will consist of mowing grass, raking and collecting grass. Please note that the meadows can be very wet; bring waterproof working shoes (or rubber boots), working gloves, a raincoat and a hat to protect yourself from the sun. The second group will be working on the campsite preparing food, collecting wood, doing maintenance tasks or working in the nearby forest.
The workcamp is organized in cooperation with EUROSOLAR. EUROSOLAR promotes renewable energies and a sustainable lifestyle; it engages in youth environmental education and organizes environmental summer camps for children, youth and families. The workcamp takes place in a remote but exceptionally beautiful, hilly area of the Bohemian Forest, near the western border of the Czech Republic. The campsite is isolated from civilization and we welcome volunteers who are fond of trying out a basic lifestyle in the forest and do not mind longer walks. The main goal is to help maintain meadows in a nature-protected area, maintain the campsite and enjoy nature. At this workcamp, you will actively contribute to the achievement of UN SDG15 Life on Land.
The campsite is in a remote part of the village of Lesna in the Bohemian Forest near the German border. The nearest bus stop is Stara Knizeci Hut and the nearest bigger town is Tachov. The campsite is located about 30 minutes walk from the nearest bus station. Hiking in the surrounding countryside. You can visit the ruins of the Zahaji castle or go on trips to the Czech towns in the neighbourhood (e.g. Marianske Lazne). The project is situated on the border with Germany thus a trip to Germany could be an option. Besides, you can try archery, play games, handcraft or experience an Indian sauna. If you have any games, musical instruments or any other activity you could share or teach the group in the campsite conditions, you are welcome to bring them.
In tee-pees with a fireplace in the centre. Large families will have their tee-pees; smaller families will share tee-pees. You will sleep on wooden pads and mattresses stuffed with hay. The nights might be very cold, bring a very warm sleeping bag, camping mat and some warm clothes. You will bathe in a small river with cold water next to the campsite, the toilets are dry and outdoors. You will cook together as a group on a fireplace. The food is only vegetarian. You can charge your cell phone with a solar-electricity generator. There is limited phone coverage and no Wifi.
Fee: 50 EUR/adult, 25 EUR/child. EUROSOLAR is an NGO with limited resources, therefore, we kindly ask participants to contribute to the budget of the workcamp. The fee serves as contributions for meals and administration costs of INEX-SDA. The fee must be covered in advance by a bank transfer to the account of INEX-SDA. Bring clothes and shoes suitable for work, rubber boots and a raincoat, a warm sleeping bag, a sleeping mat and warm clothes for the night. To reach the workcamp you will take forest paths, therefore you need to pack your stuff in a backpack rather than in luggage. There is a strict no alcohol and drugs policy at the campsite. This workcamp is for families with 5+ years old children or individuals. We expect participants to be nature lovers, open-minded, flexible and interested in living in an eco-friendly and community way. Every year, there are several children and family-friendly camps organised, so even if the accommodation and facilities are basic, they are suitable for children. Because the work will take place outside, beware of allergies to grass, pollen, insects, etc. On departure day, there are only 1-2 connections from Stara Knizeci Hut to take you back to Prague with arrival in the afternoon/evening, so take that into consideration when planning the trip. The food is traditionally vegetarian and consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
From the airport take the bus 119 to Nadrazi Veleslavin stop. Vir'Volt stands for InteRnational VolunTeer Village (in French). For 3 years, the organisation has been based in the heart of nature, in the middle of a regional park. By welcoming young people from all over the world each year, the future village is being built around a number of different objectives: getting to know each other and learning from our differences, reflecting and acting together to protect the environment, but also having a positive impact on the surrounding area and people by putting solidarity at the heart of each of our actions. Vir'Volt also aims to become fully eco friendly and sustainable which is reflected in our campsite ; yurts and teepees as rooms, permaculture farming and gardening, water saving projects, reducing and reusing waste. This small village will become great without sacrificing or damaging the surrounding environment whilst always searching better and more eco friendly ways of living.
La Ferté-Alais (91590) is approximately 50km south of Paris. Leisure activities: You will have the chance to enjoy the association's campsite and to discover the cultural and natural heritage of the region which is part of a natural park. You will also help organise some activities in order to meet and socialize with local young people. Other leisure activities will be organised collectively depending on the wishes of the group and the available budget. On day in Paris is scheduled.
You will sleep in collective Yurts, non-mixed on the campsite of the association. Please bring a sleeping bag with you. The campsite has separate bathrooms and showers, as well as a kitchen place. Food will be provided and cooked by the volunteers in turns.
We will meet you at the association's site, a 15-minute walk from the RER station, on Monday 26th August from 3.30pm. From Paris stations (Gare de Lyon, Gare du Nord), take the RER D to Juvisy, then change to the RER D towards Malsherbes. This workcamp is for nature lovers since the work will be mainly outdoors. The volunteers will work in a nature park on the island “Usedom” located in the Baltic Sea. There is a lot of work around the natural reserve. Since it’s not possible to use common agriculture techniques, volunteers have to do everything manually. Moreover, every meadow around must be cut and the grass has to be put aside. The aim of this project is to help to protect this unique reserve through your contribution.
This project is organized by NiG e.V., a german non-profit and non-government organization. In this project we work together with the historic technical museum of Peenemünde. The Peenemünde Historical Technical Museum is working on the history of the creation and use of weapons during World War II. The exhibitions document who worked in Peenemünde, how people lived and why the enormously elaborate weapon projects were carried out.
Peenemünde is located in the northern part of the island Usedom which is located in the very north-eastern part of Germany. Usedom is the island with the most hours of sunshine in Germany and a popular travel destination. Because Peenemünde was occupied by the German army by the time of the Nazi-Regime, the nature could grow and bloom freely and many salt and orchid meadows sprouted. But Peenemünde is mainly known for its significant role in the times of the Nazi regime. Whereas Peenemünde first was a place where the Nazis' army was positioned for developing different military tactics, it later became a labour camp in 1943. The prisoners had to help assemble the V-2 rockets and other military objects. Leisure time: Excursions can be planned together, short trips to nearby towns, swimming. There will be bikes provided to get to the working location.
The volunteers will stay in multiple rooms at a youth hostel. Full board is included (also vegetarian). There will be someone cooking for the participants. Dinner will be warm; lunch and breakfast will be sandwiches.
Please bring a sleeping bag, a mattress pad, working clothes and motivation.
Will be send to the volunteers with the travel information.

Area: Jena is with about 100.000 inhabitants the 2nd biggest city in Thüringen and is situated on the banks of the river Saale, surrounded by white and grey calcite mountains in the eastern part of Thüringen. Jena is famous for the high-tech Zeiss Optical Instruments, the Schiller University and the Zeiss-Planetarium, which is the oldest continuously operating planetarium in the world. The city of Jena and its surroundings present many good opportunities for recreation and relaxing. Leisure Time: Please notice that Jena city is far away from your accommodation, so better be ready to spend lots of time by yourselves, enjoying games / sports and outdoor activities. We can go hiking and have cycling tours in this beautiful area. We can also make trips to other cities, for example we can travel to Weimar, which is well known as the workplace of the poets Goethe and Schiller. You’ll be able to learn more about history, as we could visit the former concentration camp Buchenwald. The student city of Jena offers many cultural possibilities to explore. Free-time activities will mainly depend on your ideas and wishes.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in an isolated hostel on a hill in the Western part of Jena. Your only neighbours will be the woodland animals. All bed linen will be provided. We have the chance to have campfires, play ping-pong and volleyball, to go swimming and so on. A washing machine is available. There will be no internet access in the accommodation. Food: Full board, you will get the possibility to cook traditional meals occasionally. Please be prepared for typical German food. You will have cold breakfast and supper (bread!) and a warm meal for dinner.
Please be fully vaccinated (2 to 3 shots of one of the following vaccines: BioNtech/Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or Johnson&Johnson) or recovered (date of infection must be min. 28 days old and max. 90 days old).
