These cleanup tasks may be arranged in partnership with the above mentioned organisations or organised solely by SEEDS. We aim to also involve the local community, so some of our events may be open to the public. We hope participants will learn how to plan and do their own trash hunting projects back at home. This project is based on similar activities around the world, where outstanding results have been achieved with volunteers. One of the two options below is also included in this camp as a hands-on volunteering activity day:A day trip combining a visit to the Hellisheioi geothermal power plant, a trash hunt in the area; and the Hot River Hike, a hike up a valley filled with hot springs where one can bathe. A day trip to the Reykjanes peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area. All the activities are dependent on conditions such as weather and availability of our partners. This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walk medium distances during the cleanups, as during other activities and sightseeing. As a part of the project happens outdoors, volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule, as depending on the changeable weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities (as) planned.
The Environmentally Aware and Trash Hunting project is part of a series of camps organised by SEEDS in cooperation with different partners. SEEDS works with and supports the Icelandic ministry for Environment and Natural Resources and the City of Reykjavik on a project to clean up the Icelandic coastline; the Blue Army, an organisation dedicated to the cause of coast cleaning; Whales of Iceland, an exhibition of life size models of whales and porpoises aiming at educating about their lives and human impact on their existence; SORPA, the organisation in charge of waste collection and management in the Reykjavik area and other local stakeholders. This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor cleanup tasks.
Reykjavik is a dynamic, modern city which lives in harmony with nature, using renewable energy sources. The world s northernmost capital bridges the Atlantic, between Europe and North America. Reykjavik is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic. It is an international city with a lively cosmopolitan cultural scene surrounded by beautiful nature.
SEEDS volunteers will stay in a house in Reykjavik. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, shower, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms/dorms of up to 6 people. Please bring your own towel. Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.
Participation fee EUR 350 (Euros). The fee can either be transferred in advance via bank transfer, or paid in cash on arrival. It includes transport from the meeting point to the camp (on the first day), activities available; and one trip combined with the trash collection activity (Hot River or Reykjanes).
Meeting time will be 18:00 (6:00 pm) on June 12 at SEEDS Office in Reykjavik. Participants that cannot arrive on time (later or delayed flights) will be sent information on how to reach the camp on their own.

In the heart of the “Pays du Haras”, in the department of Orne, come and discover the Bourg-Saint-Leonard, a 12th-century castle, classified as a Historic Monument in 1942. On the domain, you can find the castle, an orangery, stables, caretaker's lodgings, a garden and orchard, a park and a 400-hectare forest. The Chinese boudoir and library were restored over several months. The commune of Gouffern en Auge has embarked on a vast project to restore the various parts of the estate over several years. This project is being monitored and coordinated by architects of historical monuments. You will continue the restoration of the wall, staking the mortar and repointing with a lime mortar (a masonry technique used with old buildings). You will be accompanied by skilled guides throughout the project to help you learn these techniques step by step!
This is the third year of the partnership with the commune of Gouffern-en-Auge. The council wishes to revitalise the commune by hosting a volunteer work camp, to set up an international and intercultural project for the inhabitants, and to promote the local heritage. The castle of Bourg-Saint-Leonard is open to visitors during the summer. In an English-style park surrounded by a 400-hectare forest, the castle, with its orangery and stables, is a showcase of 18th-century furniture. The Chinese boudoir and the library have been restored over several months and are open to the public.
Gouffern en Auge is a new commune, created by a merger of 14 communes. It is located in the department of Orne in the Normandy region. This work camp is an opportunity to take full advantage of the exceptional and prestigious setting of the castle and to immerse oneself in Norman culture: culinary specialities, hiking, discover the local heritage, visits of the castle of Chambois (the commune where you will be accommodated) and the national stud farm (Haras National du Pin 5 km away), activities and entertainment with the local inhabitants. For more information: https://www.ornetourisme.com/visites-loisirs/chateau-du-bourg-saint-leonard/ and https://www.gouffernenauge.fr/chateau-du-bourg-saint-leonard/
You will be staying close to the Château du Bourg Saint Léonard. This means you can easily walk to the site each day. The accommodation will be in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag and warm duvet). The kitchen and living area, as well as showers and toilets, will be close to the camp. You'll be able to enjoy the view of the castle as you go about your daily life. Volunteers will be able to share their internet connection (no WIFI), and laundry will be done by hand. You'll share collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders, and you'll help with shopping and meal preparation, giving priority to healthy, local produce, and exchanging recipes if you wish.
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
The meeting point is scheduled at Argentan Train Station at the end of the afternoon of the first day. On the last day (02/07), the departure time is usually set in the morning. From Paris, you can take the train from Gare Montparnasse, regular departures are scheduled throughout the day. The journey takes about 2 hours. If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel. The exact meeting time will be given with the infosheet which will be sent at least 4 weeks before the start of the workcamp. If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than aeroplane) for a sustainable international workcamp. For more information about trains: https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/
Please bring gardening gloves, good shoes for working and working clothes. As the nights can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes. Don’t forget to bring a camping mat, a sleeping bag for cold weather (comfort temperature 5 degrees): nights can be really cold in Normandy. Don’t hesitate to bring traditional things from your country/region, photos, games, music instruments, etc.

The project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to the youth and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication by means of alternative English language practice which includes meetings, visits and direct contacts to young people from abroad. The project gets teens of 14 to 16 years old familiar with national traditions of the countries from all over the world, encourages them to develop their global thinking and individual initiative, tolerance and resistance to xenophobia and ethnic hatred. Camps give foreign participants a great chance to meet youngsters both from Estonia and other countries as well as to experience local life. This summer we offer you to participate in our new project called MATRIX . Camp participants will learn about different meanings of this word. Together, we will identify the ways how to improve the matrix of the modern world, how to become a better version of ourselves and how to develop our emotional intelligence. The tasks during setup are hard but very rewarding work as you will arrive at an empty field and have the satisfaction of watching and helping the tented village circle take form each day! Basic facilities such as kitchen, showers and toilets will be ready when you arrive. Setup takes two weeks where we erect large tents such as the kitchen and bar marquee, set up and furnish the smaller accommodation tents for paying guests and put in place essential things like plumbing and electrics., and erect the cafe, sitting room yurt, and main marquee tent amongst others. Once the structures are built, they are furnished with seating, equipment, decorations and many flowers and bunting as a finishing touch. Setup is a time of team spirit, learning diverse new skills from how the pulley system on a canvas marquee works, how to build a traditional yurt, how to do an alpine butterfly knot, install our infrastructure such as plumbing or solar powered electrics, and looking great in steel cap boots!
Green & Away is a registered educational charity, who organise, build and run a unique, tented sustainable venue – a temporary outdoor eco-village, situated on the banks of the River Teme, in lush Countryside overlooked by the Malvern Hulls in the West of England. Every summer since 1990, many volunteers from all different walks of life and all over the world have come together to create a beautiful space for events, connection to the outdoors, community and learning – and we are very excited to welcome you!
The site is situated close to a small village which has some small activities going on, the site is roughly 5-6 miles from Worcester with a direct bus. Volunteers can travel quite freely to a big city. More immediately the site is located to a café with walking trails and a river for swimming bordering the site. The nearest hospital is 9 miles away. You will get 2 days off of volunteering, days off are not the same each week, but rest will be assured to all volunteers. The work at Green & Away is what brings us together, but there is also plenty of time for evening activities, revelling in music and laughter in our bar, swimming, playing games and enjoying an evening round the campfire. There is also opportunity for day trips to visit the local area, cultural visits or special days out like canoeing on your days off. You are also invited to engage with our Education Wednesdays, where we spend an afternoon together learning from one another in a variety of ways through talks, workshops and discussions. If you have a skill or knowledge on a topic you would like to share with the group let us know!

Since 2000 we have had volunteers around the world joining our summer programs which were designed around building sustainable vegetable farming facilities. Over the years we have learned that developing eco-friendly and sustainable farming facilities does require a lot of research on improving our farming methods, learning the best practices from local farmers on improving the crop quality and perseverance despite the setbacks which were imminent in harsh Mongolian continental climate, with long, frigid winters and short, warm summers. We are hoping to transform our eco-friendly vegetable farming facility into a sustainable organic farming training center which teaches the low income families how to grow healthy greens on their own. Organic fruits and vegetables are sparse and expensive in Mongolia which makes them unaffordable for many low income families. We are planning to donate any crops from our facilities to families in need in addition to providing them with the knowledge of how to grow their own crops.
Main works are helping at eco farm trough our work such as remove the weeds in the field, working in the greenhouse, making water canal for farm, making compost, etc. Quite tiring but let's enjoy it. Eco farming methods/know from other countries.
MCE was established on January 11th, 2001 by an individual who had participated in the 3rd Training & Networking Workcamp of NVDA in Vietnam. Before 2000, there were no workcamp organizations or international voluntary service in Mongolia. However, there was much need for international voluntary projects to improve a Mongolian society. Through practical work projects, MCE hopes to encourage public awareness of Mongolia’s social problems and promote local actions. We promote exciting voluntary actions by fresh ideas and mobility as a youth NPO, to shift the world with too much competition and expansion into more healthy one for both nature and people. We create opportunities to meet new people and to start new actions by involving many locals. We make bridges between isolated NPOs and local people, and invite youth to depopulated areas. We grow exchange naturally among world youth and local people through living, working, talking and laughing together. They can improve global views/ sensitivity and language/ planning skills.

Through engaging activities such as storytelling from around the world, language exchange programs, multicultural craft workshops, and cultural cooking classes, children have the opportunity to explore different cultures in a hands-on and interactive way. The volunteers also facilitate activities like pen pal programs, geography challenges, and community service projects with an international focus, encouraging children to develop communication skills, empathy, and a sense of global citizenship. By participating in this program, children not only gain knowledge about different cultures but also learn to appreciate and respect cultural diversity. Our volunteers are dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where children can learn, grow, and connect with the wider world, fostering a sense of curiosity, openness, and respect for others.
Duong Lieu Library is the first non-profit and completely free private library in Hanoi. The library would like to create and encourage the habit of reading for children in the urban area, thus, Hung – the library founder believes that they must first let the children play. So, there were all kinds of games, from Rubik's Cube, wooden board games, Chinese chess, chess... Then gradually they guided the children to reading books. Along with exchange and sharing activities and book giving, the library connects with students so that young people can learn basic life skills and learn English communication directly taught by foreign volunteers. Students seem to be very interested in this model because it improves their communication ability significantly but is very attractive, completely different from studying in the classroom. Engaging International volunteers in different activities of the library helps them create a welcoming and inclusive space where children can learn, explore, and connect with the wider world, fostering a sense of curiosity, openness, and respect for cultural diversity.

Volunteers will stay with different local families with fully equipped toilets and bathrooms. However, we would like to ask everyone to respect and protect the environment by not wasting water and toilet paper. There might be no beds in the camp but mattresses, summer blankets and pillows are provided. Volunteers will help the local families prepare and cook food for themselves.
The volunteers should be ready to stay in a local area, and to adapt to the local conditions with only basic facilities. Be prepared for the teenagers’ poor English skills. Volunteers should be able to be with the youth and prepare some games and materials for activities.

Do you love heritage and nature and want to be part of a project with a positive impact? Come and contribute to the development of a path in Clermont L'Herault where the Caylus “calade” (traditional streets made of stones) is located. This path will take you to a hill that overlooks the town. The municipality wishes to maintain its paths for the pleasure of hikers. Discover the rich heritage of the town, with its archaeological oppidum, its “capitelles” (huts made of dry stones) and old dry stone walls, and its calades. Your work will consist of enhancing the site by carrying out small-scale landscaping work, clearing undergrowth and making small improvements to the existing calade. This work is therefore essential to maintain the path while allowing visitors, walkers and the curious people of all horizons to come and discover this rich heritage!
Since 2015, we have had a very strong partnership with the town of Clermont l'Herault and local associations that promote the discovery of local heritage. The offices of our delegation are located in the town. We carry out several volunteer projects for young people in the area. We work together with volunteers from local heritage associations. This project concerning the enhancement of the calade on the communal path participates in and contributes to the enhancement of the commune's heritage.

As part of this project, you'll be helping to build a "self-care" area to complement the facilities already on site. Mainly, you'll be building dry toilets, washbasins, and mirrors for your beauty moments! You'll also develop your DIY spirit by making 99% eco-friendly household products. A great opportunity to try out alternative methods for reducing environmental impact and encouraging more responsible consumption habits. To make the site more welcoming and, above all, to protect certain areas from the summer heat, you'll start creating a shaded area in the garden. You'll also have the chance to get to grips with the garden, its vegetables and herbs, and put your green thumb to good use. Finally, weather permitting, you'll get to grips with low-tech toolmaking, and start making wooden games - the big project that will keep our youngsters busy in July. What better way to stimulate your creativity? There's never a dull moment here! So come and spend two unforgettable weeks and bring Citrus to life with your creations.
Join the Citrus association's major project and help renovate the Laguépie international welcome center. For over ten years, international volunteers have been building, renovating, imagining, and giving shape to a large-scale project. On the heights of the village of Laguépie, Citrus is a place of sharing and encounters, where young people from all over the world come to contribute to the renovation and fitting-out of the international welcome center. Since 2012, the association's buildings have been in the former hamlet of La Mayounelle: offices, a communal living space and an activity room, all surrounded by fields, a green theater and a vegetable garden. Accompanied by experienced leaders, you'll live at the heart of the association and share daily life with the Citrus team and other volunteers on site.
On the Citrus association's international host site, near the village of Laguépie (82250), in the Aveyron gorges, 100 km northeast of Toulouse, between Albi and Villefranche-de-Rouergue. Leisure activities: In the heart of Laguépie (82250)he Aveyron gorges, you'll be able to take advantage of all the possibilities offered by the Tarn-et-Garonne region: swimming in the Viaur river, accessible on foot, visits to medieval villages, kayaking, visits to Albi cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site. With the support of the animation team, you'll also organize activities and take part in meetings with the local population: international meals, intercultural games, film screenings, traditional festivals, etc.
You'll be accommodated in 8- to 12-person, single-sex collective tents with floors and beds. Amenities include dry toilets and solar-powered showers. A pedal-powered washing machine is available for laundry. There is no wifi connection. You will take part in the upkeep of the premises and in the preparation of meals, accompanied by an educational supervisor in the kitchen. Choices will be made collectively to ensure a balanced diet based on your tastes and local seasonal produce.
There is a direct train from Toulouse to Laguépie. The leaders will be waiting for you at Laguépie train station in the afternoon.

No experience is necessary as new volunteers are teamed up with students and experienced volunteers for hands on learning. Volunteer opportunities range from field excavations to basic maintenance and restoration tasks. This year we will be opening test excavations in the field and assisting with historic preservation tasks in early 20th century buildings, including the museum. The workday is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The work is done in a friendly and supportive environment. Please understand that this is hard physical labor and includes digging with a trowel or shovel, screening soil, carrying buckets of dirt, and some other hand tool use. Each person will work at their own pace according to their physical condition. The temperature can be quite hot or cool and rainy. BRING work gloves, work shoes and clothing, including a warm coat or sweatshirt, sun hat, rain coat, long sleeve shirts and pants as there will be mosquitoes. The work site can be dirty and muddy so multiple sets of work clothes are a good idea. The local mud is a very red color, which can be difficult to remove from clothing. Sunscreen and bug spray will be provided. Study Themes: History and contemporaneous events (what was happening around the world while people lived at the site). Geology – why people chose to mine at this particular site. Immigration – where the mining community was from, and what challenges resulted from such a diversity of origins.
SHAPPS is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the historic and prehistoric resources at Sunrise, WY, and to providing experiential education opportunities for students of all ages. Website: www.shapps.org Facebook page: www.facebook.com/sunrisehistoricandprehistoricpreservationsociety
Location: Sunrise is an abandoned mining town located in a rural part of Wyoming. The area is a mixture of small towns, prairies, ranches and forest. The dig site is situated in a beautiful valley within the rugged Hartville Uplift, in the foothills of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Volunteers will attend local cultural events and will have field trips to local cultural and natural areas. They will also attend an international archaeological symposium at the local college. There will be many opportunities to enjoy beauty and nature and there will be formal and informal discussions about topics of interest to the group. Bring music, games or other activities to share.
Volunteers will be tent camping with field school students. Individual tents, sleeping bags and pillows are provided. BRING any other bedding you wish to use. All food and meals will be provided for volunteers. We will share cooking duties. Excursions into town will occur every other day, to purchase any snacks or personal items that may be desired. Be sure to tell the other volunteers and the co-leader if you have any special diet needs.

In Skalafell the ski slopes are turned into a bike park during summertime and mountain bike enthusiasts can nourish their passion. The main tasks will include renovation and maintenance work on the bike trails; mainly raking and scraping them up. Other possible tasks may be related to general cleaning of the area.In the Blue Mountains, the main tasks will be maintaining the slopes and preparing them for the next ski season. The municipality and several sports associations run lodges and mountain huts there and they may also need some renovation jobs, such as painting and/or cleaning. The working plan is flexible and it will depend on the needs of our local hosts, this group is planned to mostly work at Skalafell. The landscape is raw and volunteers need to be motivated to work outdoors and to experience isolated mountain areas. No previous experience is necessary, but the work is demanding and requires a good physical condition. As it is outdoor work, volunteers shall be ready to adapt and be flexible with the working and free-time schedule, as depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the planned tasks. The camp happens around the summer solstice, when the sun hardly sets and the nights are almost as bright as the days. The bright nights are magical and staying awake and enjoying the beautiful surroundings is a unique experience. During the time of the camp participants will have the opportunity to experience the midnight sun as there are 24 hours of light even if the sun does set for short periods of time.
SEEDS volunteers will again be working with the Reykjavik municipality in two of the main outdoors skiing and recreational areas in the capital region, Blafjoll (or the Blue Mountains) and Skalafell.
The skiing areas of Blafjoll and Skalafell are both about 30 minutes driving away from the city. The Blue Mountains are south-west of Reykjavik and Skalafell is located to the east of the city. Both areas have great slopes for downhill skiing and snowboarding as well as tracks for cross-country skiing. Blafjoll has 16 lifts and Skalafell has 4 lifts. The sports area in Skalafell is situated at an elevation between 380 and 700 m.The Blue Mountain range is situated near the ring road and stretches from the capital area to the south-western lowlands. The highest mountain in the range reaches 600 m and in 1968 the district became a very popular skiing resort among Icelanders. The areas are excellent for recreation, not only for alpine and cross country skiing, but for other outdoor activities as well such as hiking and mountain biking. Nature lovers are certain to find something to their liking, but it s important to be careful crossing the rugged lava fields because of the numerous caves underneath.
SEEDS volunteers will stay in one of the ski lodges in the mountains and sleep in a shared dormitory. Please bring your own sleeping bag. Volunteers will receive food supplies and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning activities. Do not forget some traditional/typical food, drinks, music and recipes from your country for the intercultural evening.
English will be the language in the camp; basic conversational skills are needed.Participation fee EUR 350 (Euros). The fee can either be transferred in advance via bank transfer, or paid for on arrival. The fee includes the transport from Reykjavik to the campsite and back (on the first and last day of the camp). Meeting and departure time to the camp will be 16:00 (4 pm) on June 16 from the meeting point at SEEDS office in Reykjavik. After the camp we will return to Reykjavik in the afternoon of June 26.Volunteers shall be prepared for physical outdoors work and should bring good working shoes and clothes. In the mountains, the weather can change quickly and drastically. Even if it is summer, the weather can be cold or rainy. We recommend bringing good walking shoes/boots, warm and/or waterproof clothes (underlayers, overcoats, scarves, gloves and hats) as most of the tasks and activities take place outside. The locations of the camp are remote and isolated, even though still close to the city. Free-time activities in the surroundings are mostly hiking and trekking. Some excursions (Golden Circle, South Shore, Hot River Hike, Vesturland Trip or Snaefellsnes) can be arranged at discount fares for SEEDS participants in case there is additional free time after work or during the weekend.

This workcamp is for nature lovers since the work will be mainly outdoors. The volunteers will work in a nature park on the island “Usedom” located in the Baltic Sea. There is a lot of work around the natural reserve. Since it’s not possible to use common agriculture techniques, volunteers have to do everything manually. Moreover, every meadow around must be cut and the grass has to be put aside. The aim of this project is to help to protect this unique reserve through your contribution.
This project is organized by NiG e.V., a german non-profit and non-government organization. In this project we work together with the historic technical museum of Peenemünde. The Peenemünde Historical Technical Museum is working on the history of the creation and use of weapons during World War II. The exhibitions document who worked in Peenemünde, how people lived and why the enormously elaborate weapon projects were carried out.
Peenemünde is located in the northern part of the island Usedom which is located in the very north-eastern part of Germany. Usedom is the island with the most hours of sunshine in Germany and a popular travel destination. While Peenemünde was occupied by the German army during the time of the Nazi-Regime, the nature could grow and bloom freely and many salt and orchid meadows sprouted. But Peenemünde is mainly known for its significant role in the times of the Nazi regime. Whereas Peenemünde first was a place where the Nazis' army was positioned for developing different military tactics, it later became a labour camp in 1943. The prisoners had to help assemble the V-2 rockets and other military objects. Leisure time: Excursions can be planned together, short trips to nearby towns, swimming. There will be bikes provided to get to the working location.
The volunteers will stay in a youth hostel. Full board is included (also vegetarian). There will be someone cooking for the participants. Dinner will be warm; lunch and breakfast will be sandwiches.
Please bring a sleeping bag, a mattress pad, working clothes and motivation.
Will be send to the volunteers with the travel information.
