Volunteers will assist in different tasks according to their skills and interests. They will organize international summer activities for elementary school children such as taking care of animals, exploring the forest, and doing arts and crafts. Another activity involves running a summer cafe, along with maintaining a vegetable garden and reed model environment. The camp also intends to host international evenings for local residents, allowing volunteers to share about their culture. Volunteers may also join activities with elderly people and help them with household chores.
Foxhill Association maintains old industrial heritage of Kuusankoski and works to increase community spirit and wellbeing of people by common action. It is a voluntary association preserving the are of wooden buildings where factory workers used to live. The aim is to keep the cultural and natural heritage alive.
Kuusankoski is a small town next to Kouvola about 130 km north-east from Helsinki. The camp is in a forest on top of the hill in the middle of Kuusankoski town. During free time, volunteers can take part in selfguided bike tours and organized excursions. The hosting association runs in sumemr time a cafe and a small petting zoo for children so there are many visitors in the area.
Accommodation will be shared accommodation in basic conditions in a small wooden building. The volunteers will prepare their meals together.
The volunteers need travel insurance for the duration of their stay. Extra fee 100 euros.
