TACHES A FAIRE POUR LES VOLONTAIRES : Fabrication des planches, pépinière, binage ; de compost ; Repiquage des jeunes plants, arrosage des semis ; Renforcer la clôture du jardin avec les bambous ; Construction d’une paillote en paille et en bambou pour la détente et la conservation des outils et produits ; Organisation des activités pédagogiques dans le jardin avec les enfants ;

After more than a decade of successful workcamps with our association, from 2006 to 2022, both for the participants and for the commune, the latter wishes to welcome for the 17th time an international volunteer workcamp to participate in the restoration of the Fort des Dunes , a military fort built in the 19th century. The objective of the commune was both to enhance the value of this site so that it could be visited and used for cultural purposes by associations and music groups and to bring an intercultural dynamic by creating links between the inhabitants, visitors and volunteers. Over the years, important improvements have been made to open this site, which is full of history, to the public. Outside, with a secure tour route (interpretation of the site with the help of an audioguide), and inside, where rooms have been restored and opened to visitors, including a room dedicated to the history of the fort (interactive presentation, animated model of Operation Dynamo).
The city of Leffrinckoucke is located a few kilometers from the city of Dunkirk. The military fort is located 500 meters from the beach and 500 meters from the city of Dunkirk. Your mission on the international volunteer workcamp: to take care of these two local heritage features. Accompanied by a professional in traditional masonry, you and your team will help the oven to get back to its former glory: cleaning the inside of the building, rebuilding pretty stone benches and re-pointing the walls. You'll soon get the hang of it! As for the spring, you'll be needed for a complete clean-up: emptying the bottom of the basin, cleaning the stones in the washhouse, disbursing and covering with pebbles the small square in front of the washhouse to make it pleasant and accessible to all. In addition to this work, you'll reflect together on sustainable development through the use of traditional techniques in the restoration of the oven and the basin, but also in the daily life of the group. You'll have the opportunity to present the progress you've made to the local population and tourists. It's a chance to meet young people your own age from all over the world, and to take part in a meaningful project!

This year, Concordia is teaming up with France Bénévolat and l'Arche de la Nature to create an international work camp in Le Mans. Located ten minutes from the town centre of Le Mans, the Arche de la Nature estate offers to visitors a vast natural area showcasing the main landscapes of the Sarthe region. Along the paths, visitors can admire the river, the forest and the grove, and can visit the “Maison de l'Eau”, the “Maison de la Forêt” and the “Maison de la Prairie”. Sports fields and children's playgrounds will satisfy young and old alike. In all, 500 hectares of nature are permanently open to the public, including La Mare aux Poissons Rouges. La Mare aux Poissons Rouges is an artificial pond that hosted a religious procession from the early 20th century until the Second World War. The procession group came from the church in Yvré-l'Évêque and passed through the Château de l'Arche estate. Today, the pond has been cleaned up and is the home to a number of protected amphibians, including the marbled newt. The aim of this project is to protect the pond by building a dry-stone wall. You'll be accompanied by a team of expert guides throughout the project to help you learn these techniques step by step!
We already carried out a work camp with France Bénévolat about ten years ago. As for Arche de la Nature, we've been working with them for years on various civic services and event organisation projects. Today, we're expanding our partnership by organising a workcamp in their nature areas. The Arche de la Nature estate, managed by the Le Mans Métropole urban community, offers visitors a vast natural area of almost 500 hectares. Every year, more than 500,000 visitors enjoy this park, which is permanently open to the public free of charge. L'Arche is the green lung of the Le Mans urban area. Various events (festivals, courses and outings) have been organised since 1997.
Le Mans is located in the West of France. It is the administrative centre of the Sarthe County, in the Pays de La Loire region (50 min from Paris, and 1h30 from Nantes by train). You will have time to discover the city. Le Mans is a beautiful artistic and historical city, it is the third one of the Pays de la Loire region when it comes to culture and tourism. The old city centre is surrounded by Roman walls and the most recent renovation works organised to preserve the oldest parts of Le Mans have helped to enhance its local heritage. Two rivers cross the city which has been named one of France's greenest cities. You can find various parks and gardens, in addition to the two big forests bordering the city. For more information about the city: www.lemans.fr
You'll be staying at the Yvré Leveques municipal campsite, just a few kilometres from the site and Le Mans, in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag or warm duvet, and a mat or mattress). The kitchen and living area, as well as showers and toilets, will be close by. You'll be able to take advantage of the campsite's various facilities, including the swimming pool (remember to bring your bathing suit!). Travel between the living area and the work site will be by bike (distance of around 5 kilometres, between 15 and 20 minutes), so you'll need to know how to ride a bike. Volunteers can share their internet connection (no WIFI) and laundry will be done by hand. You'll share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the animation team, and you'll help with shopping and meal preparation. You can exchange recipes if you wish.
Please bring gardening gloves, good shoes for working purposes as well as work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. As the nights can be quite cold, remember to also bring warm clothes. Newstar Drama Group was founded in 1993 at Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) Nairobi and was registered in 1996 by the Ministry of Culture and Social services. The group is a traveling theatre group that has performed at many high schools, universities, colleges, primary schools, social forums and Kenya National Theatre. Newstar is a member of International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA). THEME: REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EDUCATION, PROMOTION OF GENDER EQUALITY AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT Gender equality implies a society in which women and men enjoy the same opportunities, outcomes, rights and obligations in all spheres of life. Equality between men and women exists when both sexes are able to share equally in the distribution of power and influence; have equal opportunities for financial independence through work or through setting up businesses; enjoy equal access to education and the opportunity to develop personal ambitions. A critical aspect of promoting gender equality is the empowerment of women, with a focus on identifying and redressing power imbalances and giving women more autonomy to manage their own lives. Women's empowerment is vital to sustainable development and the realization of human rights for all. The project aims to empower the women to actively continue with the struggle to enhance their capacities and ultimately take the lead in community development. This takes cognizance of the fact that despite being overrun by pro-men cultural foundations, women remain the pillar of families and the most vulnerable gender in the current societal set-up.
Manual work and Intercultural activities: Newstar Drama Group office work. Performing arts training. Live drama performances. Mentorship for artistes. Promotional activities including marketing theatre productions. Submit Project Report to KVDA.

The School is still at the initial stages started in 2012 under Nyamosense Primary School and Nyamosense Catholic Church. The management is in the process of registering the institution with the Ministry of Social Services in Kubwaha. The inhabitants are Kuria speaking people residing in the South West of Kenya. Their economic mainstay is farming, where farmers grow tobacco, maize, beans, sweet potatoes and other horticultural crops for sale. Cattle and goat trade also take place but the volume of trade has gone very low owing to the incessant cases of cattle rustling between the Kuria people and the Maasai and Kipsigis of the neighboring Trans Mara district. The area has low levels of literacy especially among people aged from 35 years and above. THEME: RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES: “The duty to Protect, Respect, Promote and Fulfill” People with disabilities faces a myriad of challenges and most of them are kept in the dark and never discussed. The society out of misinformation choose to segregate them and in some cases denying those basic rights, such as the right to education, right to socialize with other people and the attendant stigma that takes a psychological toll on the victims. People with disabilities are the most marginalized and vulnerable group in Kenya. They are often abused, exploited and excluded by society, denying them of their right to health, protection and education. The work camp provides an opportunity for all actors to renew their commitments towards improving the plight of marginalized and vulnerable by organizing activities aimed at including people with disabilities hence actively integrating them into the community development spectrum. There is a lot of stigma within communities towards homes and institutions with people with disabilities. The public needs to know that they can be useful citizens in the future and also contribute towards the development of the country. Because of the continued stigma, parents often hide their children and deny them their rights, thinking they are totally helpless. Volunteers together with community members and people with disability will create forums where the local will be enlightened and enabled to understand that “Disability is not inability”. The volunteers will work together with members of the local community to address the issue of stigma and access to basic facilities and the place of children with disabilities in the contemporary world
Manual work and Intercultural activities: Teaching pupils at the Special Unit School Care and support of orphans Interacting with children with disabilities Learn how to use sign language Brick making together with local community members Open forums for discussion on children rights Study lessons on retrogressive cultural practices like Female Genital Mutilation

There is no electricity connection at the project but volunteers can charge their electric appliances at the nearest market center. However, the Government policy to install ICT in primary schools has seen connectivity to the national power grid for most educational institutions in Kenya and this makes it easy for volunteers to use electric appliances while at the project. Furthermore, we invite you to bring typical food, spices, drinks, games and music from your country (for an intercultural evening) – and a lot of motivation!

Grenzenlos is an Austrian NGO based in Vienna. It is independent of religions and political bodies. Grenzenlos is a non-profit association. Its main purpose is to promote world peace and respect between people through intercultural non-formal education programmes abroad which combine cultural integration with engagement at non-profit initiatives worldwide. The German word “Grenzenlos” means “no boundaries” and also “no limits”. The word explains the basic mission of Grenzenlos: to promote the personal development of individuals (no limits!) and inter-cultural understanding through international encounters, trainings, intercultural living and work experience (no boundaries!). Grenzenlos offers a variety of international mobility programmes. These programmes are dedicated to world peace through the promotion of inter-cultural exchanges. Traditionally, Grenzenlos organizes volunteering programmes (individual as well as in the frame of international camps). As an exchange organization, we send volunteers abroad and host volunteers in Austria The Inclusion approach is a high priority for Grenzenlos: special attention is given to promoting the participation of people with disabilities in all our volunteering projects as well as trainings and educational programmes.
