Since 2008 World Heritage Camp has become our remarkable project focusing on heritage site preservation. We recently conduct World Heritage project in Plaosan temple which also belongs to Prambanan temple compounds. Prambanan temple compounds is a UNESCO world heritage site in Indonesia which is one of the largest temple compounds in Southeast Asia. It was built in 9th century dedicated to the three great Hindu divinities (Shiva, Wishnu and Brahma). The Prambanan temple compounds consist of Prambanan temple (also called Loro Jonggrang), Sewu temple, Bubrah temple and Lumbung temple with total about 240 temples. The temples were damaged by earthquake in 2006 and volcano ashes from Kelud mountain eruption in 2014. Until then the site management try its best to preserve the temple by restoring the damaged temple and conducting a lot of activities in collaborating with UNESCO, government and stakeholders to support the preservation.
Volunteers will have restoration work. Besides, before the restoration work, the volunteers will have one day orientation about how to do the restoration and given information about the history of the temple, so that the volunteers really gain a lot of knowledge about the temples and the process of restoration. As the volunteers live in the local community of Bugisan village, they also have activities in the local school with the local students. They will promote to the students how to preserve the temple and do some activities like students competition, culture exchange etc. The volunteers will also give campaign about world heritage preservation to the local community as well as the visitors related to the world heritage especially Prambanan temple compounds. Currently the conflict between elephants and human are rising because they have less area to live. Elephants are being squeezed into smaller area, since the local farmer plant the crops and elephants like to destroy and eat them. As a result, the elephants frequently raid and destroy the crops which will cause a conflict between human and elephant. Due to this reason, local government and organization which concerns about the wild life are working together to save or conserve the elephants and reduce the conflict. The major aspect of this project will be focusing on community lifestyles. Volunteers and community members will have an opportunity to experience and exchange both work and leisure behavior patterns in various activities, attitudes, interests, opinions, and values. This provides an opportunity to reflect on each involved person’s self-image or self-concept, the way they see themselves and believe they are seen by others. This is expected to be a composite of motivation, needs, and wants influenced by factors such as culture, family, reference groups, and social classes. In realization of the above objective, volunteers will join a series of activities that will include: Community economic life (I do what they do): Participation in the daily activities of community members. This will include working in small businesses, farming, handicrafts, arts, taking care of animals, and other daily economic activities of community members. Social-cultural life: Participation in various social aspects of community life, including traditional medicine and healthcare (learning and experience). Rituals: Visiting ritual sites, learning and understanding. Ceremonies: Participating in weddings, initiation, and other traditional and religious ceremonies available during that time. Language exchange: This will include Kiswahili language (1-2 hours every day) and an optional foreign language teaching class (1 hour per day, preferably English or French). Knowledge exchange: This will include intergenerational exchange—age groups' knowledge and experience-sharing events. Images of my (self, culture, country, etc.) vs. others. Community exhibitions: Sharing various arts, music, food, etc.
It is believed that the world’s population recently passed more than 7 billion people, an incredible number to measure. In Tanzania, Africa, as well as around the world, many people still barely meet anyone outside of a small circle of family, friends, and community, while even more never venture beyond the culture in which they were raised. The Intercultural Exposure Project aims to serve as an important means of introducing people around the world to realities they might not normally be exposed to. Many barriers have begun to fall between people around the world, with near-instantaneous communication allowing people on opposite sides of the world to meaningfully interact. The Intercultural Exposure Project encourages people from all walks of life to appreciate and understand distinct cultures and play a key role in creating productive dialogue across the world. The project will be hosted at Lolarash Lutheran Church.
Nakilongos is an area of Longido District, Arusha, Tanzania, located about 112 km from Moshi town. The community is accessible via public transport starting from Moshi Main Bus Terminal to Tarakea and then changing to Kamwanga via Lolarash. Indigenous inhabitants are the Maasai tribe; however, due to the economic activities happening in the North Kilimanjaro Forest, there is a good mixture of people from various parts of the country. The community shares a border with Kenya as well as the Kilimanjaro Forest. If arriving from Kilimanjaro Airport (about 43 km), volunteers will need to take a shuttle to Moshi town. Possibilities and options for leisure activities include wildlife safari trips to Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Tarangire National Parks. Various packages are available depending on the available time and budget. Other options include mountain climbing (Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, and others) and eco and cultural tourism.
Accommodation will be at a community residential house. It is basic accommodation where volunteers should expect to use water, toilet, and have a bath. Mattresses will be provided in shared rooms. Volunteers are expected to help in meal preparation and cleaning. Vegetarian meals will be available for the entire period of the project.
Potential volunteers for this project need to have sufficient language proficiency to understand instructions given in English. They should be flexible, open-minded, eager to learn, independent, and committed to treating others with respect. Volunteers should also have a non-judgmental approach that values different cultures, as well as an interest in people, cultures, and their stories.
The nearest bus/Ferry terminal is Moshi town Central Bus station located in the capital of Kilimanjaro region.

Support local communities in enhancing their livelihoods while sharing life with them
This project is comprised of two key components. First, we aim to support families engaged in agriculture by assisting with planting, harvesting, and nursery maintenance. We will begin by collaborating with two or three families to understand their needs better. Next, we will connect with local youths, members of self-help groups, families with income-generating activities, and the village kindergarten. Throughout this process, our volunteers will share their life experiences and cultural insights, fostering meaningful connections within the local community.
This project is actively working for SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and SDG 15 (Life on Land), organized with the Cultural and Agricultural Organization since 2023. Gampola, once a thriving kingdom over 700 years ago, was eventually overshadowed by Kandy, leading to its decline. Nestled amidst mountains and rivers, Gampola has a rich history. Following the British capture of Kandy, coffee and tea cultivation became vital for survival in this region. Today, it is home to Sinhala, Tamil, and Muslim communities, who cultivate vegetables and export spices like pepper, cinnamon, and vanilla. Transportation remains a challenge, with only a few buses serving the area. Despite the visible ruins of its past, the community relies heavily on agriculture for their livelihoods. Development has yet to reach this region, and there is a pressing need for the community to understand the differences between developed and developing countries. A partner organization is actively working with the community to improve their lives and income
Gampola, situated 14 km from Kandy and 127 km from Colombo, is nestled in Sri Lanka's picturesque hill country, serving as the country's second capital. The weather here is pleasantly cool, with nighttime temperatures ranging from 22°C to 24°C. The area boasts both historical landmarks and stunning natural scenery, making it a captivating destination
We will be staying in a village house with a welcoming host family, where the host mother will prepare meals for us. The family has three boys aged 18, 9, and 5. The home offers electricity, purified drinking water, and 3G/4G data connectivity. Toilet papers can used, and clothes will be washed by hand and hung out to dry outside the house
High motivation to work while experiencing different type of life style, accept challenges, adopt to local environment, respect and accept local life and culture.
Colombo - Volunteers need to arrive at Katunayake Bandaranayake International Airport (BIA) by the end of April 20 and can leave there after 20:00 of April 30. 6 hours by bus to the site. Get involved in the unique experience of taking care of the space in the Cognolo Refuge at 1000 m above the sea, exploring the wildness, expressing your creativity, and getting to know local flora and fauna together with a group of international volunteers. #lunarcamp #wearealliance #escinteam Since 2014 Ala has managed the Cognolo Refuge, a mid-mountain mountain hut, brought back to life from a situation of degradation and abandonment, where it carries out hospitality, educational activities, experiences related to nature, and the enhancement of the territory. Running a refuge is an act of care for this rural area, offering an active garrison over the mountain area and facilitating access to the hinterland for all, making known the beauty of these mountains. The day-to-day management of the refuge requires constant maintenance and renovation, which is why the camp focuses on this space by offering volunteers the experience of living in a mountain refuge in its wildness and using this space as a place for experimentation where they can express their creativity and rediscovering the value of manual skills and traditional knowledge. By joining this workcamp you will contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals: SustainableCommunities -SDG11, SustainableConsuption&Production-SDG12
Volunteers will work on the maintenance of the space and area around Cognolo Refuge (maintenance of trails, construction, and restoration of terraces, collection of wood for the winter season, construction of tables, chairs, or other necessary elements, maintenance and cleaning of the spaces, making tent pitches, fire areas etc...). Volunteer could discover the area by exploring flora and fauna local, learning about animal tracks and more. Group life, shared management of cooking, cleaning, and convivial moments between games, excursions, and experiences. During the camp you will participate in the creation of an annual festive event on the occasion of the May 1st anniversary, contributing to the logistics and management of the public event.
Ala is a promotion association specializing in activities for youth and adults in rural areas. The focus of its work is in Sabina, an agricultural area north of Rome (40 km) where it has made local development and youth policies its main vocation. The association works to build the idea of an inclusive educational community where everyone has the opportunity to find the space to express themself, outside of any judgment, social or political. Daily it deals with youth aggregation, active citizenship and participation, reception and receptivity, local development for sustainable tourism, and redevelopment of spaces abandoned or disused public spaces.
.
The group is housed in tents in the camping area around the shelter. The shelter and spaces inside are used by staff for cooking and rain emergencies. Scarcity of resources - the shelter has electricity. Spartan housing to keep with shared bathrooms, compost toilets, and solar showers. Management of space cleaning and meal preparation will be handled by volunteers themselves through cleaning/cooking shifts. The group will have access to a pantry based on which to build a weekly menu respecting allergies/intolerances and diet particulars. Please note that given the season it is important to bring with you adequate equipment such as thermal sleeping bags suitable for the colder days.
The camp takes place at 1000m, is accessible by hiking, and takes volunteers to immerse themselves in a dimension outside the usual. It requires a high sense of adaptation, the ability to disconnect from digital devices and an internet connection, desire to disconnect from everyday life to connect with a life more in relationship with the people one has around and nature. Come with proper equipment and be ready to go hiking (trekking shoes, working clothes, etc...). Be ready to become part of a local small community. Be open minded. This project is supported by the European Solidarity Corps. Food and accommodation are covered by the European Union. Transportation costs will be refunded according to the distance band rules of the programme. No fees are required. The workcamps are open for international volunteers (coming from EU ESC countries projects).

Alliksaare Farm s main direction is horse breeding. At the moment there are around 150 horses on the farm. The work can be diverse: it is to take care and maintain the pastures located by the sea - clearing around the pastures, building or removing fences, repairing fences, cleaning the stable. Another work is cleaning the coast nearby the farm from rubbish brought by storms. There can be some work for preparing food for horses for a winter time. However the major and the most important one is work with horses directly - taking care and training them. There are horses of any age but mostly young ones, so depending on your experience and willingness to learn more, it is possible to practice taking care of and training young horses. For example socializing and training foals, halter train yearlings and saddle and/or carriage train young horses. The work will be mainly outdoors. Working time is 6-7 hours a day. Work will be done under some supervision and guidance of the local host but mostly independently.

Volunteers will assist in picking and collecting mangrove seedlings from the forest, replanting mangroves in the open or destructed areas, collecting non-composting materials and garbage in the forest and seashore, providing environmental education and awareness, and participating in educational visits to various organizations working on environmental conservation.
Mangrove trees that are expected to stretch along coastal lines are important as animal habitats and natural seawalls. However, despite this reality, mangrove forests are among the most threatened habitats in various countries. These trees may be disappearing more quickly than other inland forests than expected. Experts are informing us that the outcome of the disappearance of mangroves will result in fisheries declines, threats to migratory bird species, degradation of clean water supplies, erosion, and land subsidence. The Sea Forest: Sea Wall Project is an initiative aimed at contributing to the conservation of the coastal environment to ensure the sustainability of islands. This project is hosted by a community-based organization, ZAVECO, which works to preserve the coastal environment.
The project will be hosted in the Kibele community, south of Stone Town. The island is small, making all natural and cultural attraction sites close and easily accessible. Possibilities include visiting museums, local markets, Stone Town, Jozan Forest for wildlife tours, a spice tour, Safari Blue with water sports, swimming, and enjoying views of marine life, as well as cultural and eco-tourism among many other options.
Accommodation will be at the community residential house. Expect to share rooms with other volunteers. Food will be provided at the project-designated site. Volunteers with special dietary requirements are advised to provide information before arrival.
This project is looking for volunteers who love nature, are interested in working outdoors, are open-minded, and are interested in other cultures and local realities.

Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.

VIN’s Environmental and Conservation Programs raise community awareness of critical environmental issues and develop effective solutions. VIN runs various ecological projects that aim to conserve, promote, and protect the environment and culture while preventing, mitigating, and controlling water, land, and air pollution to enhance the health, safety, and welfare of current and future generations. We utilize permaculture for sustainable farming and have been teaching and implementing it since 2018. We believe that permaculture plays a vital role in restoring the entire ecosystem! Agriculture provides subsistence and employment for 80% of Nepal's population, accounting for approximately 39% of the total GDP. The sector's development is crucial for empowering those who rely on it and for the national economy. Since Nepal is in the Himalayan region, climate change has significantly impacted the country. Water sources are drying up, new types of moths and insects have emerged, and the timing of crop cultivation has shifted. Unexpected climate changes, unpredictable rainfall, droughts, and more are the consequences of global warming that Nepalese farmers are facing.
As a volunteer, you will collaborate with the farmer’s VIN, which specializes in permaculture. The work is typically hands-on, and you’ll design the farm according to permaculture principles, including cultivating crops, weeding, irrigating, gathering materials, digging, and creating beds. Support farmers in making organic fertilizers like compost. Observe, interact, learn and implement.

Background/Project: Environmental protection ranks among the most urgent priorities in the modern world. Key aspects include tackling solid waste management issues in urban and rural Nepal, significantly impacting the environment and public health. Solid waste, a by-product of human activities, is increasing due to rapid urbanization, improved living standards, and changing consumption patterns. Effective waste management can turn it into a valuable resource, while poor handling leads to severe environmental degradation and health hazards. In VIN’s working communities, including schools, improper waste disposal, such as food remains and other materials, is a significant problem. These issues contribute to littering and elevate the potential for public health crises. Children are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of poor waste management, facing risks such as respiratory problems from dumping site dust, diarrhea, skin diseases, and eye infections.
Objective: Prevent and control water, land, and air pollution through environmental education and cleaning activities. Activities:- Organize the waste management /Community clean-up campaign involving community people. Train local people on garbage management using the 3R principles: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (segregation, disposal, domestic methodology for making compost fertilizer, etc.) Develop a kitchen garden concept and train the households to implement it.
Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) Established in 2005, Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that takes a comprehensive approach to community development. It assists Nepal’s most marginalized populations. VIN recruits numerous local and international volunteers each year to achieve this objective. Our primary mission is to improve the quality of life for underprivileged individuals through community empowerment, using volunteering as our strategy for development initiatives.
Jitpurphedi community is located in Tarakeshwor Municipality, on the outskirts of Kathmandu District. It is 10-15 km from the main ring road to Balaju, Kathmandu, covered with hills, fields, and woods.
The volunteers will stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living facilities are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area with separate rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag.
Basic English should be spoken among the participants Physically sound as per the project requirements.
One of the VIN staff will pick up volunteers from the airport. Please send your flight details to VIN on time so we can send your name card and VIN logo to our staff. If you want to explore the country earlier, you can take a pre-paid taxi at the airport, or VIN can help you with that. You can arrive at the VIN office on the first day.

The aim of the volunteering is most importantly to create and hold meaningful programmes regularly which support the children's development and studies (e.g. supporting Ukraine or English language courses or holding after-school workshop and day-care activities), meanwhile helping with the everyday duties (lunch, cleaning, tidy up the new library, etc.) in the institution. Children come from challenging backgrounds, having either never attended school or only experienced online learning, making it difficult for them to adapt and remain in school. An art and craft, a hip-hop dance afternoon club, sport opportunities are just some of the possible classes that would improve their knowledge and spirit.
Egyesek Youth Association organizes this volunteer program together with the Masoret Avot Nursery and Primary School and the Українська асоціація "Єдність" (UA Unity Association). The main goal of the project since May 2022 is to create an educational and community centre for Ukrainian kids and families in Budapest. The jewish school cooperating closely with the EcoSpace is a safe place now for 250 children aged 6 to 18. They can find support, friends, learn and develop thanks to our devoted team of teachers who themselves had to flee from the war.
Not only will you create unforgettable memories at the camp, but you’ll also have the chance to explore Hungary’s stunning capital in your free time! The evenings and the second weekend will be free, so you can wander the streets of Budapest, admire its historical buildings, immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant cultural life, or even try the famous Hungarian cuisine. As part of an international team, you’ll not only make the children’s summer memorable but your own as well!
The project is co-funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps program. There is no participation fee. All volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms in Budapest in a dormitory or hostel. Lunch will be provided in the institution (vegan and vegetarian may not available), breakfast and dinner is self-organized, but covered by the project cost. Each volunteer will also receive €7 per day as pocket money. Travel costs to the project location will be reimbursed based on the distance after participation. All necessary equipment for the tasks will be provided.
On May 10th at 6 PM, we will wait for you at the airport bus stop (100E and 200E) in Deák Square, Budapest, 1075.
We warn the volunteers that the consumption of alcohol and smoking is strictly forbidden inside the school. It is an advantage if the volunteers have knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian language. Besides, it is necessary to have basic knowledge about a group's animation (songs, music, dance, plays…) and to be able to assume responsibility within a group. Being able to listen to others is very important there. This kind of workcamp is a very rich personal and human experience. It makes you aware of the complexity of certain social conditions related to the great inequalities on our planet. In order to demonstrate this, we ask the candidate volunteers to fill out our application form: https://coda.io/form/Application-form-Ukrainian-Refugee-School-in-Budapest-2025_d8BCUDjbuEQ
