Volunteers are the key person to make the students, teachers and Local community speak using English in daily life. They learn English in the class but only in reading and writing (grammarly) but very lacking in speaking with Each other due to the culture barrier. When there are international volunteers, the environment in the school and community force to use English and they also couple exchange with volunteers. Workplaces There will be 2 schools which are Ban Krogluek School and Ban Maab Grad School. The local host may schedule Monday-Wednesday work in one school and Thursday and Friday work in another school. You will meet different classes each day. So the activities you prepare can be used similarly in both school and each class.
Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, learning and sharing the intercultural and language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and students in the school. English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people to understand and be for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and knowledge. The project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for eight years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and the local community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare to face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover, volunteers’ activities impacted the local community. They used to stay lively and trusty with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life with the different cultures. Ban Krogluek School is a primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has sent volunteers to this School since 2015. Based on the time of the year the volunteers will be working during the day or at night in the months of August and September from 20:00 to 08:00. Depending on the number of turtles that come ashore, two teams might be formed among the volunteers. In this way, each group will be taking turns, working one night, and taking the next night off for recovery. In addition, the weekends are also spared for resting. Some of the activities to be performed are: 1. Finding adult turtles and collecting their eggs. 2. Moving the eggs to a protected place called Vivero. 3. Releasing newborn baby turtles into the sea. 4. Patrolling the beaches at night. 5. Making some reconstruction in the most important turtle camps of the region. Please consider that the schedule is subject to change depending on the weather conditions and the condition of the sea turtles and it is possible to work with crocodiles in case there is no work with turtles, this can happen mostly in the months of January and February. The coordinator or the camp leader will be informing you regarding your work schedule.
Vive Mexico has been organizing this workcamp regularly in Rincon de Guayabitos, Nayarit since 2014. The main achievement of the project is to protect the sea turtles with the help of volunteers who will be cooperating with a team of biologists. Up to now, the project has been quite successful and has reached extraordinary results. Participating in sea turtle conservation is a great opportunity to discover the rather charming life of sea turtles.
Rincon de Guayabitos, also known as Guayabitos, is a beach town located in the astonishing Sierra Madre Occidental, in the state of Nayarit and bathed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the cities of Tepic, Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta. Riviera Nayarit is emerging as one of the most attractive and magic destinations of Mexico. The area extends approximately 300 kilometers along the coast, integrated by mountainous jungle and facing coastal islands. For those seeking a more rural and rustic experience with magic beach towns in Mexico, the Riviera has a massive open space for everyone along the Nayarit coast, also, for those who want to relax there are also quiet beaches and there are other beaches with heavy waves for surfers.

Volunteers will help plan and carry out different activities to support the park’s environmental and community projects. The tasks may include: • Creating sculptures • Taking care of vegetable gardens • Helping in the greenhouse • Making compost • Removing weeds • Planting trees • Cleaning the lagoon inside the park • Doing small repairs at a nearby school • Organizing games and fun activities for school children Activities may change depending on the park’s needs and the weather during the program.
This project will be carried out in cooperation with a natural park, located near Bogotá, between 2.100m and 2.600m above sea level.
During your volunteering you will try some typical dishes from the region and do activities such as walks through the reserve, zip-lining and the KYE MUYSUA, an ancestral experience workshop: Weaving under the tree of dreams in the company of Andean music, meditation and fire. This natural park is an Andean cloud forest, in the middle of the mountains; therefore it can be cold and rainy, depending on the season of the year. The park is located close to Bogotá (1 hour approx.) where you can find many places to enjoy the Colombian culture. In case you do not want to leave the park, we have some activities that you can do in your free time such as: 1. Night walks and wildlife watching (there is a guided tour on weekends) 2. Trekking inside and outside the park (e.g. visiting other village on trails) 3. Extreme sport and wellness activities: zip line, tree climbing, music therapy (must be agreed in advance with the areas, the park does not cover the cost of this activity) 4. Horseback riding (must be agreed in advance with the areas, the park does not cover the cost of this activity) 5. Bonfires 6. Birdwatching
The accommodation is a nice and cozy house only for the volunteers in the middle of the natural park. Volunteers will cook together. This is a perfect space to share recipes and have a culinary cultural exchange. Shopping is organized by the leader(s) and the park, and the volunteers might help. Vegetarian food option also available. Please do not expect expensive/special ingredients (olive oil, nuts, etc), but the Colombian cuisine is rich in fruits, vegetables and 3x a week there will be meat in the menu. The water heater depends on the availability of gas. On some occasions, hot showers might not be available, but in general there is hot water available. Please bring a sleeping bag. There is a laundry to wash your clothes.
• Good health and physical condition, willing to hike the mountain on steep slopes, and understand the implications of working outdoors. • Please bring a sleeping bag. • Tetanus Vaccine (highly recommended) • All participants must have medical assistance insurance, which covers, among others, situations related to COVID-19. • The volunteer’s participation is confirmed after the extra fee is paid. The payment must be done at the latest 1 month prior to the project starting via debit/credit card, bank transfer or Paypal. • Language: English • After you apply, please fill out the following form: https://forms.gle/ojeTkDpaRnUqfqtd8
23 November at 9am in Bogotá, at Centro Comercial Hayuelos.
• There is limited Wi-Fi (because there is only satellite internet in this remote area). It may only be used for basic needs, such as communication (some calls, messages, mails) and information (research, press), but not for large downloads, videos, streaming (music or movies), video calls, etc. • Extra fee: 1.000.000 COP (approx. 210 EUR). The extra fee includes pick up at the meeting point, T-shirt, food, accommodation, 1x zip-line, KYE MUYSUA (ancestral experience) and certificate of participation. • To enter Colombia, you must have a return ticket or a ticket that shows you are leaving Colombia. • The activities require constant contact with nature; this means that the volunteer will be finding himself/herself using physical strength and getting his/her hands dirty to get the job done. It is good to know and understand that you can encounter rain, sun, mud and insects. In addition, to carry out the activities it is necessary to walk the different trails, which have steep slopes. Therefore, volunteers should be in good health and willing to walk the different trails.
