The Serra do Courel is not free of pre-Roman remains and there are many examples of settlements distributed throughout its valleys. There are several remains of castros, for example that of Vilar, that of Seceda, Castro da Torre, Castro de Vilamor, also called castro da Pena do Castro. All of them were later Romanized and served as support for the intense mining work of these mountains by the Romans. Actions: - Weeding and cleaning by means of appropriate tools, assessing the conditions of each area so as not to alter any aspect of the site. Thus, the work will be carried out with hand tools such as pruning shears, sickles, sacks, etc. At the end of the work, the performance space will be free of rubble and stumps. Existing native trees on the performance area will not be cut down, as long as they do not seriously affect the archaeological structures. - Learning about the 2030 Agenda and creation of catalogs and measures and proposals for the council through three SDGs. - Revitalization of the different routes of the City Council of Folgoso do Courel through its maintenance and digitization to create greater dissemination. - Creation of contents in video format about the Geopark and the Castro de Vilamor.

Jorearte is a performing arts festival in a rural environment that was born in 2020 in Santa Eulalia de Gállego. In the last edition it was financed by the Provincial Council of Huesca, the Hoya Region of Huesca, the Santa Eulalia City Council, the Ayerbe City Council, the Biscarrués City Council, the Agüero City Council and the Loarre City Council. Each edition has been a success and far exceeds the organization's expectations. In 2024 the fifth edition will be presented and a volunteering strategy is proposed that will focus on two different areas: 1.- Support in the organization of the Jorearte Festival, Performing Arts in nature. Pre-production of the festival: adaptation of performance spaces, logistics, signage, etc. These works will be carried out with the supervision and accompaniment of the Festival's production staff. Among the tasks to be carried out are the decoration of the spaces, adaptation of the public areas with chairs. Preparation and transfer of merchandising and dissemination material such as posters and hand programs. Festival production: Assistance to artists, welcome upon arrival of the companies, accompaniment during their stay and preparation of the catering. Loading and unloading of technical material. Surveillance of performance spaces. Information to the public, distribution of programs, sale of merchandising, access control. 2.- Staging of a show that will be part of the Festival programming. The volunteers will create and stage a show within the Festival programming. This artistic work will be led by Javier García, professor at the Municipal Theater Workshops of Huesca, actor and theater director with more than 20 years of experience in the sector. The rehearsals will take place in the space known as Corral de García. The theatrical performance will be done in Spanish. Therefore, participants must memorize the texts in this language.
ITHEC has been working on youth, free time and performing arts issues for more than twenty years. In all this time we have held workshops for young people, theatre and dance festivals. But among all these activities that we have carried out with young peo-ple, the colonies that took place between 1995 and 2011 in Albarracín (Teatro en Alba-rracín, IAJ) and the Youth Initiative “La Campana de Huesca” financed by the Youth stand out. The program in Action stands out in the last years. 2012 and 2013. Since 2015, it has organized the Huesca is Legend International Youth Volunteer Camp and since 2021 Jorearte. These activities have shown us that the performing arts can be part of young people's leisure, but also their training, in addition to promoting their personal development and even their employability.
Santa Eulalia de Gállego, a small town in the Pre-Pyrenees that has less than 150 inhabitants. An exceptional territory, known as the Kingdom of the Mallos, perfect for combining heritage, nature and art. An idyllic place, at the foot of the first Pyrenean foothills, mythical mountains for Span-ish climbing such as the imposing Mallos de Riglos. These mountains have written golden pages in the history of climbing and mountaineering in our country. Every year they attract numerous athletes fascinated by the majesty of their walls and cliffs. An isolated place, like much of the rural world. A narrow road leads to the town. A perfect place to retreat and think, to work and create, to meet and share, to reflect and plan. A perfect place to coexist, concentrate and prepare a unique Performing Arts fes-tival in natural spaces.
The Casa Felisa establishment located in Santa Eulalia de Gállego is an old oil mill, re-habilitated and transformed into a cozy rural tourism home. It has double and triple rooms with bathroom. In addition, it has two living rooms and a common dining room. In recent years, Casa Felisa has run out of space to accommodate a group of 20 people, which is why since last year we also have the Casa García Artist Residency, which has been in operation since 2023. It has five bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a library, two kitchens and several common spaces. Participants must collaborate in the cleaning tasks of the common areas of the accommodations. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will take place at Casa Felisa. On days when there are excursions and during the Festival, some of the daily meals will be replaced by a picnic due to the need to travel to the town where the festival takes place, which, being itiner-ant, takes place in 5 different towns.
Our working language will be English, but just in case you need we can also communi-cate in Spanish and French. At the end of the work camp, we will prepare a theatre play that we will perform in Spanish, but don’t worry if you don’t know a word, it will be fun to learn together some Spanish sentences. It will be enough to bring comfortable clothing to carry out regular activities (tracksuits, shorts, tights, t-shirts can work), a swimsuit, and sneakers for walking. Health card and Identity Document. For the residence you must bring sheets or a sleeping bag and a towel, the blankets are provided by the accommodation.

In the parish of Louredo in the municipality of Mos, we find this village, Aldea Alfacuca, restored with small and old buildings. These constructions were made around 1670, by Mr. Alonso Blanco. This project aims to help revitalize and recover an old village, providing it with spaces of community interest that can be visited by the neighborhood and where to know aspects of both Mos and our culture and ethnography. INTERVENTION: For this edition, the interventions are based on 3 axes: - "Gardening" rotation: care (pruning, tutoring, renewal of hedgerows...) of the sensory garden and the edible forest planted in 2022. - Rotation of debarking of Acacias: to deepen what started the previous year and continue to free Aldea Alfacuca from the presence of these invasive trees. - Rotation of rehabilitation and conditioning of the village's facilities: providing the existing spaces with greater possibilities by placing decking in the rehabilitated buildings that have a concrete slab on the floor; installation of a bathroom in the cabins that have the installation of plumbing and water; surrounded by buildings that have not been rehabilitated... Mos is a Galician municipality in the province of Pontevedra. In Mos there are abundant archaeological remains that are evidence of an intense occupation of the territory. There will be two main lines of intervention in this work camp. A cultural and ethnographic aspect and another environmental aspect: 1. Ethnographic recovery: the ethnographic festival of Loñoá. Loñoá, a small village Pereiro de Aguiar was famous for its pottery. The ethnographic festival (on August 6) aims to recover and show the old trades in order to put them in value and prevent their loss. The participants will actively collaborate with the neighborhood of Loñoá in the organization of the ethnographic party, helping in the recovery of old ethnographic objects, making and recovering traditional games to recreate them, ... 2. Action will also be taken to recover its traditional barrier: Loñoá had an old barrier where clay was traditionally extracted to make pottery. This barrier was lost in oblivion and to this day has no accessibility.

Canfranc-Station is located 1190 meters above the sea level, the whole district occu-pies an area of 71.6 km². Up north of the valley the winter sports stations of Candanchú and Astún are located. Historically speaking, cross-border communications have marked the evolution of the valley: the Somport -also called at times the port of Canfranc- is the less steep and thus the most frequently employed border crossing of all the central Pyrenees. From the old horse-shoe road, transformed in 1876 into a road, to the construction of the cross-border railway, inaugurated in 1928, and the recent road tunnel, the history of communications through the Somport has remained closely intertwined to Canfranc’s own history. The village’s permanent population amounts to about 600 inhabitants, although its tourist character gives that figure a boost up to as high as 1500 floating permanent dwellers when hotel beds and second residences are taken into account. Among its main heritage features and historical assets, the FFCC International Station stands out as a marvel on its own. The Station, built in 1915 and inaugurated in 1928 by Al-fonso XIII, was at that time the second largest international train station of the entire continent. The Church of Our Lady of Pilar, designed by Miguel Fisac in 1965, is another historical site of the village. Testimony to the cross-border character of the area and as a memory of past rivalries, remarkable pieces of defensive architecture can be found all over the area. Perched on a high promontory, the Fort Coll de Ladrones dominates the view of the upper side and surveils the station placement, whereas clusters of Bunkers belonging to the Line P of defense hide in strategic locations throughout the valley, waiting to be found by the trekkers. Right at the southern entrance to the village, the fortified Rifle Turret from the XIX century gives way to the travelers. Hidden on the deep vowels of the mountain, CSIC Scientific Underground Laboratory carries out a search for the subtlest physical phenomena in and environment of cosmic si-lence. This summer’s Program is arranged with a good dose of Scientific outreach, as a col-laboration in a Citizen Science Experiment is scheduled with the Canfranc Underground La-boratory (LSC) of the CSIC. In addition to this main complementary activity, a series of other leisure activities are scheduled throughout the program, taking place on chosen afternoons, evenings and weekend days. Such activities are specified below: 1. Environmental study activities: walks, environmental interpretation, landscape read-ings, fauna, flora, geomorphology, anthropology. 2. Mountaineering activities: two hikes in the area of La Moleta-Buenavista-Ip and Estiv-iellas 3. Afternoon excursions: Gabardito, Camino de Santiago. 4. The volunteers will prepare and finalize the programme in the first days. Each day, a four hours workshop/activities will be given and organized for kids in the morning. The volunteers will have many facilities and a park to do the activities with children. It is well known that people in Spain don´t have a good level of English, even though it is studied at school for more than 9 years. That´s why the participants are really asked to try their best if they speak Spanish to communicate with locals. Simultaneously, the workshops will try to teach other values such as the respect for the environment and promote the culture of peace. A good atmosphere will be the key for workcamps in future! Volunteers will be asked to take initiative, to “create” the workcamp, to leave a memory in Jodar.
Guardabosques and De Amicitia works in collaboration in order to support Summer Camps with various English workshops. English language is the pending subject of Spain.
Jodar is a village located close to Jaen. The main economic activity is agriculture and it is surrounded by the Natural Park of Sierra Magina which is a natural area with the high-quality landscape, pure and nearly virgin. Volunteers will have excellent possibilities to visit Cordoba/Granada or Seville and other spots like Jaén (Arabic baths and cathedral), Ubeda and Baeza. There is also a chance of doing a hiking route through the Serrezuela and the Sierra Magina and even to have a parapente experience in Pegalajar. In a workcamp we also dedicate some time to a study part. It is an activity of non-formal learning, where you can gain new knowledge or form new opinions on different problems; all this is done in a relaxed and entertaining way. The intercultural evening is a good way of intercultural learning. In every camp there is one evening, when all participants present their country in a relaxed way – making presentation, watching photos, telling stories, tasting typical dishes, drinks and sweets, dances etc. Please, have this evening in your mind while preparing your luggage to share a piece of your culture with the rest of volunteers. The volunteers will have access to the local swimming pool of the town and will be able to enjoy their free times in the poolside. As the local transportation is not very well connected, it is not easy to organize some trips to the big cities but depending on the volunteers, it could be possible to organize some trips to Malaga, Sevilla or Granada in the weekends. Keep in mind that De Amicitia is not financing your leisure time activities.
At local high school. The living conditions are basic, please bring a sleeping bag. Mats will be available but please check with us first! The center is equipped with showers and toilets. Rois is part of the Sar region, in the south of the province of A Coruña. Its cultural heritage is influenced in its historical-artistic component by its proximity to Santiago de Compostela and has exponents of the Baroque in its religious architecture (both in the churches and in the cruceiros of its parishes) and in its civil architecture with the Pazo do Faramello (early 18th century) where one of the first paper mills was located. The Jacobean legend places in this castro the residence of the Raiña Lupa (a character from Galician mythology who appears in the Codex Calixtinus, in which it is told how once the remains of the apostle Santiago arrived at Iria Flavia, they were deposited in the property of a lady named Lupa). The Grup d'EsPlai Vidrerenc (GEPV) is a youth organization in the village of Vidreres of a recreational and non-profit nature, which organizes all kinds of activities based on the pillars of education in leisure. It is a group open to everyone, with the aim of contributing to the development of children and young people, helping them to realize themselves as people, so that they are part of the society that surrounds them in a way active and creative, while giving them tools to grow and train from and to wherever they want. So, we are an organization that, on a voluntary basis, carries out leisure activities for children and young people between the ages of 3 and 17 during the winter, which include fun afternoons, camps, the Children's Park Christmas, chocolates... In addition, we have been developing a campaign in the summer that includes the following activities: - Casal-Casalet: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the months of July and August, with dining and reception services for families who need it. - Casal Jove: teenagers aged 14 to 17 enjoy an active, safe home with various activities. - Work camp: two shifts of two weeks each and of different types: a Catalan volunteer camp with young people between the ages of 14 and 17 and an international volunteer camp with young people between the ages of 18 and 29 years.
The work camp, like the other activities organized by the GEPV, takes place at Escola Salvador Espriu. During the summer, the school adapts in order to carry out all the activities. The main place for coexistence is the school gymnasium, with the showers and toilets nearby; each participant will have a mattress to sleep on and shelves to store belongings. Meals are taken in the school canteen, prepared by a cook and taking into account the needs specific to each participant. Right in front of the educational center we find the swimming pool, which we use daily, and the town center is a 10-minute walk away. And the place where the work will take place is Castell de Sant Iscle, a castle from Vidreres located on the outskirts of the town. During the camp, leisure activities are developed with coherence aiming to achieve group cohesion among participants and fulfill the camp's objectives. Some activities, as examples of our work, may include: - Ice-breaking games. - Scavenger hunt to get to know the town of Vidreres and its people. - Catalan culture workshop: traditional dances and games. - Mask-making workshop. - Catalan bowling matches. - Excursion to Caulès hermitage, the Llobet swamps, Montseny, Sils lakes and Girona - Stargazing. - Orienteering race. - Non-contact sports night. - Fun outdoor dinner. - Movie night. - Group dynamics.
The work camp, like the other activities organized by the GEPV, takes place at Escola Salvador Espriu. During the summer, the school adapts in order to carry out all the activities. It is located on the outskirts of the village, with a lot of green areas nearby. All participants will be living in the same space (the school gymnasium) and the room will be shared with no gender separation: the sleeping area will be equipped with mattresses and wardrobes for all participants, but it is necessary to bring a sleeping bag and a pillow. For personal hygiene, volunteers will use the school's changing rooms, which are equipped with showers and sinks, and the changing rooms are going to be divided by girls/boys. : It's important to bring clothing suitable for high temperatures. With the sun shining bright, lightweight and breathable fabrics are key to staying comfortable throughout the day. It's also wise to pack a few layers just in case the weather turns slightly chilly, especially during the evenings or early mornings. All the meals provided will be prepared by an external chef and the food is going to be prepared in the school kitchen. Adjacent to the kitchen space is the dining hall, where meals are typically served. If anyone has any dietary restrictions or is vegetarian, the organization will accommodate volunteer needs. There are going to be breaks for snacks.
The accommodation space is adapted for individuals with physical disabilities, but the archaeological work is not. Regarding intellectual disabilities, we are prepared to receive them. The camp activities are NOT accessible for people with reduced mobility because participants must be capable profiles to follow the archaeological work conditions, which is the core of the work camp.
Participants are invited to join the work camp on Sunday, August 11, 2024. The meeting point will be at Salvador Espriu School of Vidreres, starting at 5 p.m. However, if any participant arrives at the Sils train station, a village 5 minutes away from Vidreres, we offer our van service to pick them up also from 5 p.m. Therefore, we ask participants to send an email to grupesplaividrerenc@gmail.com as soon as they know how they will arrive or which option best fits their schedule.
