The work will be done around and in the village of Slatinka and in the city park in Zvolen. The volunteers will help with cleaning the area in Slatinka: cutting the grass, taking care of the trees, cleaning the educational trail. They will be helping also at the park of Lanice, close to the town of Zvolen. The working hours are from Monday to Friday divided as follows: 4 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. There are no special skills required. By participating to this project you contribute to protecting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems (UN SDG 15).
The Slatinka Association was established in 1993 as a reaction to the construction of the Slatinka water dam on the Slatina River. The association’s mission is to work at the basin of the Slatina River, to protect the environment and preserve natural areas while spreading consciousness of the project’s effects on nature. One of their main aims is to bring life back to the village of Slatinka, since many people had to leave due to the dam construction. Workcamps like this one have been organized in Slatinka since 2011.
Slatinka is a little village near Zvolen located in the Central part of Slovakia. The village is surrounded by beautiful nature with many touristic routes and hiking opportunities. The volunteers may visit Zvolen, where they will find a castle, a historical center and other interesting sites.
Volunteers will stay at a local school called the Eco Center. The center has an outdoor shower that requires participants to manually heat the water before each shower, and the toilets are dry (outhouses). There will not be access to running water, so water will be delivered or taken from a well pump for showers. Drinkable water will be provided by the local partner. On-site access to electricity and mobile signal is available. There are two bedrooms with mattresses, but a sleeping bag is required. Meals will be prepared by the volunteers themselves. Volunteers will be divided in the kitchen teams and cook together; the groceries will be provided. The food will be mostly vegetarian.
Bring a sleeping bag, working clothes, warm clothes, cap, raincoat, strong boots, swimming suit, headlamp and a smile on your lips :) You can also bring some games from your country.
Bus station in Zvolen, on 21.07.2023 around 5 pm. More info will be provided to accepted volunteers in the infosheet sent at least 4 weeks before the start of the workcamp.
Study Part: The workcamp will have a rich environmental study part as the local partner is an ecologically-focused organization. Volunteers will learn about environmental protection efforts in Slovakia and all the issues related to the dam construction. Participants will also learn about the history of Slatinka and Zvolen. The volunteers will prepare the "Feast of cultures" - an international food evening, and will join the “volunteering footprint” workshop. Our camps will follow the rules of Sustainability campaign. Attention: The camp is for nature and ecology lovers! Mostly vegetarian food and eco camp! For more info and pictures about the project please see: www.slatinka.sk, https://www.facebook.com/zdruzenieslatinka or https://www.instagram.com/slatinkaassociation/ You can also watch video from workcamp in Slatinka: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgtH03v7310&t= Important: This project is supported by the program European Solidarity Corps (ESC) for young people between 18 and 30 years. It is open to all volunteers that fit the ESC criteria. Volunteers will receive a financial support for their travel, according to a maximum amount established in accordance with their travel distance and upon the presentation of original tickets; volunteers need to enrol in the PASS, the ESC Portal; then INEX Slovakia will organise their matching, on the online system, with the volunteering project. Volunteers will receive pocket money once they arrive on the project in Slovakia. Summary: Live in peace with nature and learn about other cultures at Eco-Slatinka! Don’t miss your adventure in Slovakia!

The peace workcamp here at Brithdir Mawr Community will include various activities such as gardening, maintenance, wood processing, and making a clay pizza oven. We also hope you will be able to explore the local area and experience some Welsh culture. We hope the camp will be fun, educational and inspiring and we look forward to welcoming you here.
Brithdir Mawr is an intentional community and home to around 14 adults and 4 children. We work together to grow food, manage the land for wood and livestock, run educational courses, live off grid and we endeavour to live a low impact lifestyle. We function as a non hierarchical group, using consensus decision making, personal responsibility and trust to organise and run the site. We run regular volunteer weeks, courses, workshops, tours and social events to engage with the wider community, network and share skills and knowledge and we campaign for social change.
We are situated in a very rural area with limited public transport however Trefdraeth town is about half an hours walk away with various pubs and cafes, a few shops, a post office, and a lovely beach. Trefdraeth is situated in an exceptionally beautiful part of Wales, with pretty beaches, forests and a small mountain range. Newport has a lovely beach, river and a famous coastal path with views of the sea over the cliffs. There is also a little mountain that you can walk to from the Brithdir Mawr Community!
The accommodation will be camping in our camping field - please bring your own tents. There are compost toilets, solar showers, cold running water and sinks in the camping field. There are more compost toilets down by the farmhouse and hot showers available there also. Cooking will either be in the main house communal kitchen or in the outdoor kitchen. All our heating and cooking is wood fired with wood from the land. We are off grid for electricity (wind, solar and hydro) so sometimes supply is limited if the batteries are low and use of high energy appliances such as electric kettles is restricted. However there is usually enough for normal, mindful use such as lighting, phone charging, laptop use etc.
Due to our no fly policy we are unable to accept volunteers who fly to the UK just to volunteer with us as the benefits of the volunteering work are negated by the environmental impact of the flight. We ask therefore that volunteers only book on the camp if they are able to travel here by land and sea. Thank you. VAP HOSTING FEE: Volunteers will be asked to pay a fee of £90 GBP upon arrival. VAP charges this fee as without it we would be virtually unable to organise any projects in the UK. NB: Please check your travel requirements to the UK before applying.
The nearest train station to us is Fishguard & Goodwick and is serviced by Arriva Trains Wales. However, there are more trains to Haverfordwest, where you can then catch the T5 bus to Newport. This is the link for Haverfordwest trains - https://tfw.wales/places/stations/haverfordwest T5 bus link - https://traws.cymru/en/services/RBRO/T5 to get you into Newport Pembrokeshire. We will be able to pick volunteers up from Newport. Volunteers should let us know when they will be arriving and then we can come down to town for when their bus arrives.

In cooperation with the organisation “Biologische Station im Kreis Wesel”, you will work on the Projekt „Life Wiesenvögel NRW“. This project aims to save rare meadow birds in North Rhine-Westphalia from exstinction. To achieve this, we must, among other things, foster insects and other small animals because these serve as food for the birds. Many insects, in turn, benefit from flowering plants. That is why one of your tasks will be to sow certain seed mixtures in bird breeding sites. The seeds will be provided. (please do not bring any! They will likely be the wrong kind.) Nature conservation also involves educating (or even just interesting) people in these topics. Sometimes this takes more than words. Your second field of work will therefore be artistic. You will be creating giveaways about meadow bird conservation which can then be used to awaken enthusiasm for the topic among the general public. Creativity and crafts(wo)manship will be necessary here. The raw materials will be provided.

Your task with the forestry and nature conservation department of the Alb-Donau district is to maintain or restore a wetland biotope (pond and watercourses), to maintain a juniper heath and rough grassland near Mochental. You cut the pond free, repair the dam if necessary and remove overgrown creepers from the pond so that many animal and plant species can spread there again. Juniper heaths developed here in the past through grazing with sheep and goats and are protected as the most species-rich biotopes in Central Europe. They are in danger of becoming wooded again. You will remove shrubs and trees to create space and light for the rare plant species, insects and birds that live there. You will be guided by the forest ranger, a forestry master and forestry trainees.

Citizens' association "Czech village" was founded on February 4, 2022. This is a non-governmental and non-profit association, established for an indefinite period to achieve goals in the field of environmental protection, tourism and promotion of Czech cultural heritage. During the first year of the Association's existence, we organized two garbage clean-up actions in and around Czech village, and we also participated in the organization of the eco-camp "Butterfly Observation Weekend". The objectives of the Association are: improvement and protection of the environment, education of citizens, especially children and young people, about the importance of environmental protection and public support for changing habits regarding the use and preservation of natural resources and regarding handling of waste materials. We also work on the promotion of tourism and the historical and natural values of the municipality of Bela Crkva and its surroundings, especially on the promotion of Czech cultural heritage, protection of human rights, advocacy for better living conditions, as well as better information and education of members and other citizens in order to improve the general quality of life . Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS) was founded in 1976. Our main aims are environmental protection and education, promotion of sustainable development, work with young people in an international context, promotion of scientific creativity and voluntarism and its values. Voluntary Service of Serbia is a volunteer exchange service center founded in 1990 as one of the sectors of YRS.
Czech village was founded in 1837 by Czechs who immigrated from the Romanian part of Banat (where they came 10 years earlier). At that time there was the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and this area was the so-called Military Krajina, which was the first line of defense against the Ottoman Empire. In 1827, a poor population was sent from the area of the present-day Czech Republic, which settled in the area of the present-day Romanian part of the Banat. Living conditions were extremely bad and difficult and after 10 years the number of inhabitants was halved, so they were given permission to move to this part of Banat. 24 families were settled and each family received arable land in the atar of the village and a plot for a house with a garden in the village itself. In return, each family had to give one soldier/eldest son to fight for the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The village originally had the name Ablian, between the two World Wars it was called Fabian, and since the 60s of the 20th century it has had the current name – Czech village.
Volunteers will sleep in the large hall of the House of Culture/Czech House located in the center of the village. Volunteers will need to bring bedding/sleeping bags. It is also possible to sleep in tents because behind the building there is a yard equipped for camping. Meals will be prepared by volunteers in the kitchen in the House of Culture, where we have provided all dishes, stoves, refrigerators, etc.
There are direct bus connections from Belgrade to Bela Crkva. More details will be provided in the Infosheet about the meeting point. Cesko selo is 9 km away from Bela crkva.

Special Nature Reserve Kraljevac is a place of unique natural beauty where floating islands moved by strong winds across the surface of water continually change the surrounding landscape. Floating and permanently anchored islands are remnants of lowland peat bogs, globally one of the rarest and most threatened habitats, and represent one of Serbia’s last refuge of the relict plant community of Marsh Fern and Grey Willow. Volunteers will have a chance to explore the picturesque nature reserve in boats and also explore the oldest sand desert in Europe Deliblatska pescara.

Volunteers will be cleaning up the shores and beaches. Additional work will be undertaken in the area of our accommodation as removing old fences dangerous to wildlife and visitors. We may also be marking some walking paths and, depending on the advance of the mentioned tasks, volunteers might do some forestry tasks in a small forest planted in the area or support in the renovation and maintenance of the house. This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walking during the cleanups. Volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule, as depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities (as) planned.
The Awareness, Engagement and Action project is part of a series of camps organised by SEEDS in cooperation with different partners, where we try to raise awareness about current environmental issues and encourage the volunteers to take action One of our main goals for the next few years is to contribute to a nation-wide project aiming at cleaning up the Icelandic coastline. SEEDS works with and supports the Icelandic ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, the Icelandic Environmental organisation Landvernd, the Environmental Agency of Iceland, Umhverfisstofnun and other partners in order to draw attention to the issues of ocean pollution, plastic waste and to engage volunteers in cleaning up actions around the country. This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor coastal cleanup tasks.
Volunteers will stay in an old farmhouse, Alviora, 1 hour drive south-west from Reykjavik. The house serves as an environmental-educational centre where visitors can have a look at an extensive stone and stuffed animal collection. The house sits under Ingolfsfjall, The Mountain of Ingolfur, with a view to Eyjafjallajokull where the volcanic eruptions started in March and April 2010. The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found spread around the area, which is a popular attraction among foreign and local visitors. The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafes and bars.Other excursions (e.g. Golden Circle, the South Shore or Reykjanes Peninsula) can be arranged at discount fares if there is additional free time after the camp activities. It may be cold and/or rainy, so we recommend bringing warm and waterproof clothes (underlayers, overcoats, scarves, gloves and hats) and good walking shoes.
This project gives SEEDS volunteers the opportunity to live in an old farm which has been transformed into an environmental-education centre. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, shower, and a washing machine. Volunteers will sleep in shared rooms or dormitories. Please bring your own sleeping bag.Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Remember to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.
English will be the language in the camp; intermediate conversational skills are needed.Participation fee EUR 350 (Euros). The fee can either be transferred in advance via bank transfer, or paid in cash on arrival. It includes accommodation, food and one trip to the Hot River area in Reykjadalur. The fee does not include the transportation from Reykjavik to the camp and back, which costs EUR 25 one way or EUR 50 both ways.

Located in a rural area, with few amenities on site, locals will be delighted to show their village and share many moments with you You will also take part in the village s patronal festival on the weekend of August 1st. Perfect place for nature and authenticity lovers
St Georges en Couzan is a village of 450 inhabitants, located in the Loire department near Feurs and Montbrison. On-site activities will be done with the locals (hikes, various invitations ...) and other outings will be organized to visit nearby villages.
You will be accommodated in tents at the municipal stadium. You will have access to the toilets and showers in the changing rooms. The bar area will also serve as a kitchen. Outdoor picnic tables allow you to eat outside and enjoy the view of the valley and the Forez Mountains. You are a 10 minute walk from the village center.
