Basically our projects consists with two parts. First three days we are working at the two or three places that is our main work, helping to members of the self-help group members. We are going to help to families who have gardens and planting vegetable. Second four days, we are moving around the village to meet community to do our next part of the projects. During these four days volunteers can meet a family, youth/children society members and watch their activities, womenÔÇÖs/farmers groups, visit village preschool etc. Among work scheduled volunteers are going to participate, 1. Help family to do their home gardening work 2. Cultural exchange programs with villagers including youths. 3. Activities with children / kindergarten kids 4. Work and assist to self-help group memberÔÇÖs activities
This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger)and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with Green Volunteers for Green Future (GV4GF) since 2012 (since 2017 in this place!). Project is a based on paddy farming area. Higurakgoda is a part of the Polonnaruwa District, Sri Lanka's 2nd kingdom, exist 1100 years ago. Higurakgoda is a settlement, established in 1956, under the government development plan. Families brought to here from different parts of Sri Lanka and asked them to settle here while doing paddy farming. Different parts of Sri Lanka have different kind of sub cultures. In here all of them are mixed and emerge a new sub culture. Now 3rd generation is living here with their 2nd generation parents. During the 21st century, technology is changed rapidly but it is not reached to these areas because of language barrier, unawareness, narrow perspectives and so on. As a country, everyone should be a part of countryÔÇÖs development process but unfortunately these rural communities are somehow rejected by the administration. But actually, communitiesÔÇÖ active participation is essential to overcome the burdens and to establish a just society. Some families are doing other activities to live. Making bags, packeting spices, maintain plant nurseries are among them. We are working closely with paddy farmers as well as other families who have no lands to do agriculture too.
Higurakgoda. 256km from Colombo, suburb of Polonnaruwa, the second ancient kingdom in Sri Lanka and declared as a world heritage site. Many people depend on paddy farming and it is low population density area for Sri Lanka (122 people/ km2). Organizing cultural exchange events, Excursion, Environmental Education, Expeditions, Farewell party, etc.
Village house with a host family, located close to nice paddy fields. There are electricity, filtered clean water to drink available as well. Mobile phones/internet are working. But no Wi-Fi. You have to wash your cloths by hand and have to hang outside for drying.
High motivation to work while experiencing different type of life style, accept challenges, adopt to local environment, respect and accept local life and culture.

Active for climate protection and biodiversity – save the peatlands in the Hunsrück area! You will actively contribute to protecting a special peatland called “Weyrichsbruch”. This area was drained more than 150 years ago for forestry use. Peatlands are a valuable and natural Co2 storage as well as an ecological habitat with a high and very specialized biodiversity. For these reasons, in the 1980s it was decided to revitalize a small part of the Weyrichsbruch. Now the regional authorities for nature protection want to revitalise a much bigger part and this is where you can help! Under the supervision of two experienced Park Rangers you will improve the water balance in this peatland in order to renature the bog, and help it to cope better with the consequences of climate change. Some of your tasks will be to undo the drainage of the area by blocking or filling ditches, or by building small wooden barriers. While working, you will be able to discover many rare species which have already returned. The park Rangers will be happy to explain to you the ecological background and the consequences of climate change and they will guide you to discover this special habitat and its species. The Weyrichsbruch is bordering a well-known hiking trail. On that trail, it is possible to take a look inside the bog from a wooden plank path. In addition, various information boards have been placed around the area to convey the ecological background of the Weyrichsbruch and thus contribute to environmental education. Attention: The work might be physically hard, the wheelbarrow becomes your daily companion and you will get wet and muddy for sure! Please bring hiking boots, rubber boots and suitable working clothes.
This is a special project for nature lovers and people interested in nature protection work. You will get wet and dirty. Please be prepared that April in the Hunsrück area can either be warm and sunny or quite fresh and rainy.
The workcamp will take place in Kell am See, a village 30 km from Trier, not far from the border with Luxemburg. The landscape in this area is very beautiful! It is dominated by huge forests, steep hills, small brooks and ponds, rocks and marshes. Only small hamlets interrupt the nature, which makes it a perfect region for plenty of different species but also for hiking. You will really feel different here! The area is well known for cycling, walking and other kinds of outdoor activities. There is a local holiday resort nearby the Education Centre, which offers more than 200 holiday bungalows next to a lake and locals love to come here for cycling (there is a 45 km cycling path on a former railway roadbed) or to spend a nice day outside. The region also offers plenty of historic sites (castles, museums….). In addition, you will have the opportunity to come in contact with local associations, e.g. the local voluntary fire brigade. Since there aren’t many public transportation means available around Kell am See, the number of excursions will be limited. However, you will have the chance to visit the city of Trier with its famous Roman sites, the cathedral and birth place of Karl-Marx
You will stay in the Educational Centre in Kell am See, which is an important place for youth work in the whole area around the city of Trier. This public and non-profit centre offers the opportunity for youth groups, associations and schools to spend some days or weeks here running a seminar or other projects. You will stay in five wooden tepees for max. five persons each. Staying here, among pure nature and with the campfire in the middle of the tepees’ circle is a wonderful experience. You will sleep on mattresses inside the tepees. Close to the tepees, you will have access to your own kitchen including a dish-washer, to a living room and sanitary facilities, all inside the Educational Centre. In your free time you can use the different outdoor facilities of the centre like the campfire and the basketball, football and volleyball fields. Close to the centre, there is also a lake and hiking trails. Please be aware that the tepees have electricity but no heating, so it might be cold at night. The facilities in the centre (kitchen, living room and sanitary facilities) can be heated though. Your group of volunteers will be responsible for grocery shopping and cooking together. The food will be bought with the camp budget and everybody will take turns for cooking, washing the dishes and cleaning. In order to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet, we encourage volunteers to reduce meat and try more sustainable dishes.
Please be aware that ticks are a problem at all outdoor work camps in Germany - including this one. In our General Infosheet you will find suggestions on how you can protect yourself against them. You are also welcome to check whether a vaccination against the tick-borne disease TBE makes sense and is possible in your home country
You will be picked up from the bus stop in Kell am See. Please inform your campleader about your arrival time on Apr 21st . You can check for connections from anywhere to Kell am See on: www.bahn.com .

SEEDS’ programme combines learning, sharing, hands-on activities, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, exploring the city and its attractions, as stunning natural attractions in possible excursions. Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances during activities and sightseeing. Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact. One of the two options below is also included in this camp as a hands-on volunteering activity day: 1. A day trip to the Hot River area, combined with a cleanup or work with an environmental project in the area, or 2. A day trip to the Reykjanes peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.
During this camp, participants can share their love for (and learn more about) global & local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management, animal protection and sustainability, and you also love taking photographs or want to develop your photography skills, then this project is for you! While developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers & travellers! You will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits. Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a geothermal power plant, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an outdoor Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, as well as availability or restrictions of our partner organisations. You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.
Reykjavík is a dynamic, modern city which lives in harmony with nature, using renewable energy sources. The world’s northernmost capital bridges the Atlantic, between Europe and North America. Reykjavík is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic. It is an international city with a lively cosmopolitan cultural scene surrounded by beautiful nature.
SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, showers, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms or dormitories. Please bring your own sleeping bag. Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.
Participation fee EUR 350 (Euros). The fee can either be transferred in advance via bank transfer, or paid in cash on arrival. The fee includes transportation from the meeting point to the camp (on the first day and one trip combined with the trash collection activity (Hot River or Reykjanes). Meeting time will be 18:00 (6:00 pm) on April 25 at SEEDS’ office in Reykjavík. Participants that cannot arrive on time (later or delayed flights) will be sent information on how to reach the camp on their own. Some excursions (e.g. to the Golden Circle and/or South Shore) can be arranged at discount fares if there is free time after the camp workshops/sessions. Weather may be cold or rainy, so we recommend bringing warm and/or waterproof clothes) and good walking shoes, as some of the activities take place outdoors.

This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal educational activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environmental protection by joining outdoor coastal cleanup tasks in the shores and beaches. Additional work will be undertaken in the area of our accommodation such as removing old fences dangerous to wildlife and visitors, as well as helping with renovation and maintenance of the house. We may also be marking some walking paths and, depending on the advance of the mentioned tasks, volunteers might do some forestry tasks in a small forest planted in the area, like trimming the vegetation or planting some trees. This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walking during the cleanups. Volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule, as depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the planned activities.
The Awareness, Engagement and Action project is part of a series of camps organised by SEEDS in cooperation with different partners, where we try to raise awareness about current environmental issues and encourage the volunteers to take action One of our main goals for the next few years is to contribute to a nation-wide project aiming at cleaning up the Icelandic coastline. SEEDS works along and supports the Icelandic ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, the Icelandic Environmental organisation Landvernd, the Environmental Agency of Iceland, Umhverfisstofnun and other partners in order to draw attention to the issues of ocean pollution, plastic waste and to engage volunteers in cleaning up actions around the country. Alpakaland will be an animal-assisted healing space where Ukrainian refugee children can be psychologically rehabilitated in a smaller community. It will officially open its doors on 11th May 2024, with the first children's camp starting in early June. Our task is to complete all the work needed to get the environment ready for camping by the time it opens. These are: - simple construction of slats and metal fences and their painting, - interior works: assistance with plastering and tiling, wall painting, - erection of large tents according to assembly instructions, - landscaping (spade, shovel, wheelbarrow), - gardening (flower planting, plant care, mowing), - simple assembly of animal runs, - assembling wooden playgrounds and painting wood, - decorating for the opening.
Migration Aid on top of running a refugee transit hostel and Ukrainian school in Budapest, Hungary aim to create a space where children can be psychologically rehabilitated. In this regard, they devote a special role to animal-assisted healing spaces. As the first test Migration Aid bought in Esztergályhorváti (countryside of Hungary) an empty, but utility-filled plot, on which there are currently only many trees. In an area of about 3 thousand square meters on the outskirts of the village, they plan to build 4-5 Green Shelter homes (suitable for 16-20 people), so the animal-assisted therapy space can help 300-500 affected children and their parents annually, counting on 2-week cycles.
The camp will take place right next to the "small Balaton" with an amazing landscape. Balaton is close to enjoying the lake, and Hévíz and Zalaegerszeg are the nearest cities with options for gastronomy and cultural programs. Although be prepared Esztergályoshorváti is a very tiny village with 414 residents.
Volunteers will live in the community centre of the village. There will be space inside the centre for half of the group (around 6 volunteers) and the other half (6 volunteers) will sleep in tents. MigAid will provide tents and sleeping bags. Camp leaders and volunteers will self-organise the breakfast and dinner, food will be provided. We will order lunch from the next village for each day.
Please fill out this additional short application form as well: https://form.jotform.com/egyesek/alpakaland
Keszthely train and bus station (it is the same) at 7 pm and 9 pm on the 26th of April, from where the host will bring with a minibus the team in two turns to Esztergályoshorváti. If you arrive by plane in Budapest you have to go to the Déli train station (ca. 1 hour with 100E airport bus and M2 metro), where we suggest reaching a train to Keszthely at 4.35 pm or 6.35 pm. The train from Budapest to Keszthely takes 2,5 hours.
No specific experience is required for this work. The volunteer work will be both lighter and heavier physical work, so feasible for girls and boys equally. There will be an initial discussion to decide which activities will be carried out by the different groups.

Organized together with NICE (Never-ending International workCamps Exchange) and supported by Greening Asia fund since 2002. The forest problem is serious also in Mongolia. Before 1990, the forests covered 10% of the land, but 7% today. It's caused by cutting trees without any control, forest fire, and global warming. Another side takes a long time to grow trees in Mongolia and May and the middle of October is the only season to plant trees in Mongolia.
We will plant trees in Mongolian workCamps Exchange`s camp and some other places. This is the only season in Mongolia to plant trees. There are increasing activities by some organizations to plant trees but it takes a hundred or more years to be grown, so we should also join this movement by global power! Part of Greening Asia. Any good experiences for tree planting and the future plan of international workcamps in Mongolia and Greening Asia.
MCE was established on January 11th, 2001 by an individual who had participated in the 3rd Training & Networking Workcamp of NVDA in Vietnam. Before 2000, there were no workcamp organizations or international voluntary service in Mongolia. However, there was much need for international voluntary projects to improve a Mongolian society. Through practical work projects, MCE hopes to encourage public awareness of Mongolia’s social problems and promote local actions. We promote exciting voluntary actions by fresh ideas and mobility as a youth NPO, to shift the world with too much competition and expansion into more healthy one for both nature and people. We create opportunities to meet new people and to start new actions by involving many locals. We make bridges between isolated NPOs and local people, and invite youth to depopulated areas. We grow exchange naturally among world youth and local people through living, working, talking and laughing together. They can improve global views/ sensitivity and language/ planning skills.

PROJECT: The association works to build an idea of an inclusive educational community where everyone has the opportunity to find the space to express themself, outside of any judgment, social or political. On a daily basis it deals with youth aggregation, active citizenship, reception and receptivity, and local development for the purpose of sustainable tourism. This project takes place at Rifugio il Trio, a new space that the association is aiming to redevelop starting from the renovation of the spaces. This camp will be one of the first held in this facility and the restoration work will focus on restoring the dormitory areas. The management of a refuge is an act of care for this rural area, offering an active presence in the mountain area and facilitating access to the hinterland for everyone.
