This camp is divided into two parts: Part 1, Study and knowledge of the legends and tales of the city of Huesca during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. We will make this work by visiting archives, museums, historical buildings in which the events took place. Part 2, Creation, design and implementation of dramatized street theatre plays. Volunteers will write scripts, design props, choose costumes... Everyone will have a role in the play. The play will be held in Spanish, but don’t worry if you don’t know a word, it is no necessary. We will rehearse the show to be presented to the audience. Partici-pants will be accompanied by History and Drama experts during the whole process.
Since 2015 we have verified in "Huesca is Legend" that the combination of volun-teering, performing arts and intangible heritage is an unbeatable starting point for wor-king with young people on concepts such as solidarity, cooperation and integration. After the years that have passed since then, we continue to be unique, an activity diffe-rent from those generally carried out in the Aragonese territory. Its main characteristics make it an exceptional field, since it tries to recover intangible heritage and disseminate it to enhance its value. And all this through the performing arts. Without a doubt a diffe-rent project. ITHEC has been working on youth, free time and performing arts issues for more than twenty years. In all this time we have held workshops for young people, theater and dance festivals. But among all these activities that we have carried out with young peo-ple, the camps that took place between 1995 and 2011 in Albarracín (Teatro en Alba-rracín, IAJ) and the Youth Initiative “La Campana de Huesca” financed by the Youth in Action program in the years stand out. 2012 and 2013. These activities have shown us that the performing arts can be part of young people's leisure, but also their training, in addition to promoting their personal development and even their employability.
Huesca is a small city of 50,000 inhabitants. It is located in the north of Spain, at the foot of the first foothills of the Pyrenees mountain range. A city with more than 2,000 years of history. Iberians, Romans, Muslims, Jews have walked its streets. Its pedestrian center, its medieval monuments, its university spirit, its effervescent cul-tural life and the safety of its streets make it a perfect place to carry out activities with young people. Huesca is also the nerve center of a privileged province: in less than an hour we can find landscapes as different as the desert areas of Los Monegros or the snow-capped peaks of the Pyrenees.
Accommodation will be held in shared rooms with beds at the Students Residence “Santo Domingo” in Huesca which is in the central district. The residence has common areas and dining room with TV. The residence also offers free WiFi access. Participants may help in the general cleaning of common areas. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be normally served at the residence. The meals are home made by the residence cook. If you have any allergy or food intolerance, please let us know to warn the cook in advance. Some days if we are in a journey or if we have a very tight schedule, we can have a “package lunch” with sand-wich and some fruit. It is possible to request a vegetarian diet in advance
It will be enough to bring comfortable clothing to carry out regular activities (tracksuits, shorts, tights, t-shirts can work), a swimsuit, and sneakers for walking. Health card and Identity Document. For the residence you must bring sheets or a sleeping bag and a towel, the blankets are provided by the accommodation.

In this edition the proposal revolves around the elaboration of different non-fiction pieces that reflect the patrimonial, cultural, artistic and literary wealth of the Celanova Council, involving the Celanova people in this project, through the realization of different interviews and collection of testimonies. The different pieces must meet a series of technical requirements (shots, sequences, angles...) as well as geographical ones (filming locations). Together with the audiovisual team, the participants will go through the three stages of audiovisual creation: pre-production, production and subsequent assembly. At the same time, they must take advantage of the technical means (cameras, sound equipment, tripods, computers, drones...) to film small individual pieces that they will present at the final short film festival, thus ensuring active and participatory learning, in which All the participants approach audiovisual knowledge in a practical and playful way. “Beyond the vineyard: the dry stone heritage” is a camp based on dry stone works, which were declared cultural heritage by UNESCO. Participants are going to recover a huge stone wall in a vineyard area and also a shepherd's stone hut. They are also going to work in a Civil War trench area in order to make them more accessible to visitors. The main work in the camp will be the recovery of different dry stone works (wall, huts and Civil War trenches). To do this, participants will have the support of experts from CESUB, Subirats historical study group. So, the technical tasks are: - Restoration and maintenance of the dry stone margins between the cores of Ordal and Saint Paul of Ordal. -Restoration and maintenance of the remnants of trenches from the Civil War that are in the same area. - Restoration of a shepherd's hut located near the Archaeological Jaciment of Subirats. - Location of dry stone constructions using the Wikipedra portal. - Maintenance Tasks in Saint Paul's Ordal (maintenance of public banks and children's park) - Build and place nest boxes. The privileged geographical situation, a plain protected by mountains by the sea, the mild climate of the Mediterranean coast and a permeable land, rich in phosphorus, make the region of El Penedès, the main producer of wines and cavas in Catalonia. This wine history goes back to at least the 4th century B.C. The vineyard structures are thus a distinctive cultural feature of the area, and they have been refined over time. The Subirats area, halfway between the Vilafranca plain and the Ordal mountains, has steeper terrain than the rest of the region. That is why, in this area, the structure of dry stone walls and constructions, which are necessary for levelling the ground and plotting the vineyards, is quite important. Leisure activities will be held every day. A list of the main activities that are in the programme: -Group games, workshops and cultural activities in order to learn more about Catalan culture and the vineyard tradition in the area. -Participants will visit cultural and historical areas and museum in Subirats, a wine and champagne factory and also Vilafranca del Penedès, the Catalan's wine capital. -They will also visit the city of Barcelona, which is only 45km from the accommodation area. -You will participate in the rehearsals of a groups of “castellers”, learnig how catalan human towers are made.

The participants will sleep in a large room all together in the same space without gender separation, on mattresses on the floor. The area has high temperatures in summer, so bring cotton and fresh clothes. The hosting organization highly recommends long sleeve shirts and t-shirts for the working as hat to protect from the sun. There will be a catering providing the food for the volunteers and snacks and fruit will be provided during breaks. Jorearte is a performing arts festival in a rural environment that was born in 2020 in Santa Eulalia de Gállego. In the last edition it was financed by the Provincial Council of Huesca, the Hoya Region of Huesca, the Santa Eulalia City Council, the Ayerbe City Council, the Biscarrués City Council, the Agüero City Council and the Loarre City Council. Each edition has been a success and far exceeds the organization's expectations. In 2024 the fifth edition will be presented and a volunteering strategy is proposed that will focus on two different areas: 1.- Support in the organization of the Jorearte Festival, Performing Arts in nature. Pre-production of the festival: adaptation of performance spaces, logistics, signage, etc. These works will be carried out with the supervision and accompaniment of the Festival's production staff. Among the tasks to be carried out are the decoration of the spaces, adaptation of the public areas with chairs. Preparation and transfer of merchandising and dissemination material such as posters and hand programs. Festival production: Assistance to artists, welcome upon arrival of the companies, accompaniment during their stay and preparation of the catering. Loading and unloading of technical material. Surveillance of performance spaces. Information to the public, distribution of programs, sale of merchandising, access control. 2.- Staging of a show that will be part of the Festival programming. The volunteers will create and stage a show within the Festival programming. This artistic work will be led by Javier García, professor at the Municipal Theater Workshops of Huesca, actor and theater director with more than 20 years of experience in the sector. The rehearsals will take place in the space known as Corral de García. The theatrical performance will be done in Spanish. Therefore, participants must memorize the texts in this language.
ITHEC has been working on youth, free time and performing arts issues for more than twenty years. In all this time we have held workshops for young people, theatre and dance festivals. But among all these activities that we have carried out with young peo-ple, the colonies that took place between 1995 and 2011 in Albarracín (Teatro en Alba-rracín, IAJ) and the Youth Initiative “La Campana de Huesca” financed by the Youth stand out. The program in Action stands out in the last years. 2012 and 2013. Since 2015, it has organized the Huesca is Legend International Youth Volunteer Camp and since 2021 Jorearte. These activities have shown us that the performing arts can be part of young people's leisure, but also their training, in addition to promoting their personal development and even their employability.
Santa Eulalia de Gállego, a small town in the Pre-Pyrenees that has less than 150 inhabitants. An exceptional territory, known as the Kingdom of the Mallos, perfect for combining heritage, nature and art. An idyllic place, at the foot of the first Pyrenean foothills, mythical mountains for Span-ish climbing such as the imposing Mallos de Riglos. These mountains have written golden pages in the history of climbing and mountaineering in our country. Every year they attract numerous athletes fascinated by the majesty of their walls and cliffs. An isolated place, like much of the rural world. A narrow road leads to the town. A perfect place to retreat and think, to work and create, to meet and share, to reflect and plan. A perfect place to coexist, concentrate and prepare a unique Performing Arts fes-tival in natural spaces.
The Casa Felisa establishment located in Santa Eulalia de Gállego is an old oil mill, re-habilitated and transformed into a cozy rural tourism home. It has double and triple rooms with bathroom. In addition, it has two living rooms and a common dining room. In recent years, Casa Felisa has run out of space to accommodate a group of 20 people, which is why since last year we also have the Casa García Artist Residency, which has been in operation since 2023. It has five bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a library, two kitchens and several common spaces. Participants must collaborate in the cleaning tasks of the common areas of the accommodations. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will take place at Casa Felisa. On days when there are excursions and during the Festival, some of the daily meals will be replaced by a picnic due to the need to travel to the town where the festival takes place, which, being itiner-ant, takes place in 5 different towns.
Our working language will be English, but just in case you need we can also communi-cate in Spanish and French. At the end of the work camp, we will prepare a theatre play that we will perform in Spanish, but don’t worry if you don’t know a word, it will be fun to learn together some Spanish sentences.

There will be two main lines of intervention in this work camp. A cultural and ethnographic aspect and another environmental aspect: 1. Ethnographic recovery: the ethnographic festival of Loñoá. Loñoá, a small village Pereiro de Aguiar was famous for its pottery. The ethnographic festival (on August 6) aims to recover and show the old trades in order to put them in value and prevent their loss. The participants will actively collaborate with the neighborhood of Loñoá in the organization of the ethnographic party, helping in the recovery of old ethnographic objects, making and recovering traditional games to recreate them, ... 2. Action will also be taken to recover its traditional barrier: Loñoá had an old barrier where clay was traditionally extracted to make pottery. This barrier was lost in oblivion and to this day has no accessibility.

The volunteers will prepare and finalize the programme in the first days. Each day, a four hours workshop/activities will be given and organized for kids in the morning. The volunteers will have many facilities and a park to do the activities with children. It is well known that people in Spain don´t have a good level of English, even though it is studied at school for more than 9 years. That´s why the participants are really asked to try their best if they speak Spanish to communicate with locals. Simultaneously, the workshops will try to teach other values such as the respect for the environment and promote the culture of peace. A good atmosphere will be the key for workcamps in future! Volunteers will be asked to take initiative, to “create” the workcamp, to leave a memory in Jodar.
Guardabosques and De Amicitia works in collaboration in order to support Summer Camps with various English workshops. English language is the pending subject of Spain.
Jodar is a village located close to Jaen. The main economic activity is agriculture and it is surrounded by the Natural Park of Sierra Magina which is a natural area with the high-quality landscape, pure and nearly virgin. Volunteers will have excellent possibilities to visit Cordoba/Granada or Seville and other spots like Jaén (Arabic baths and cathedral), Ubeda and Baeza. There is also a chance of doing a hiking route through the Serrezuela and the Sierra Magina and even to have a parapente experience in Pegalajar. In a workcamp we also dedicate some time to a study part. It is an activity of non-formal learning, where you can gain new knowledge or form new opinions on different problems; all this is done in a relaxed and entertaining way. The intercultural evening is a good way of intercultural learning. In every camp there is one evening, when all participants present their country in a relaxed way – making presentation, watching photos, telling stories, tasting typical dishes, drinks and sweets, dances etc. Please, have this evening in your mind while preparing your luggage to share a piece of your culture with the rest of volunteers. The volunteers will have access to the local swimming pool of the town and will be able to enjoy their free times in the poolside. As the local transportation is not very well connected, it is not easy to organize some trips to the big cities but depending on the volunteers, it could be possible to organize some trips to Malaga, Sevilla or Granada in the weekends. Keep in mind that De Amicitia is not financing your leisure time activities.
At local high school. The living conditions are basic, please bring a sleeping bag. Mats will be available but please check with us first! The center is equipped with showers and toilets. The volunteers are meant to prepare their breakfast, lunch and dinner, although last year we got a professional cook and we hope this year we will have the same “luxury”. This project will include a one day only vegan food day agreed by volunteers for the promotion of environmental sustainable lifestyle.
